What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
And while thinking about trailers and winches, it doesn't look to me like there would be much possibility to mount 2" receiver on the front. They are very useful in accurately positioning a trailer in tight spaces; and my winch can mount there, too. Will there be access to the ladder frame that will allow for a hitch?
That would be cool. I have heard that aftermarket bumpers will be possible so you may be able to install one that can accept a 2” hitch.

Putting the winch on the receiver puts it entirely in front of the bumper, extending the overall length quite a bit. What would most likely happen is the winch would end up living a hidden life in the frunk and not adding it's cool factor to the vehicle. Which let's face it, probably sells more winches than actual winch use.

Point about coolness factor well taken. Admittedly the ones that slip over the ball, result in a less than perfect arrangement except fairly light duty tasks, but in a dedicated mount that fits the hitch receiver they should be quite effective.

Do you have a reference post supporting this? Still no official word about it on the support pages.
He was at the reveal and it was spoken about there. I was in attendance as well. They kept the reveal fairly general but we were given opportunity to pick brains after the after event so we learned quite a few things. Some are open to sharing and something’s will be posted in the future to keep interest on the forum. 2 more years to kill-need to feed the fun I to the forum slowly 🤣

If they have rain sensing wipers why not a stationary connection when rain is sensed and car is parked the sensors trigger the windows to close. Assuming sentry mode is active while parked a rain sensor could double duty.
I guess some of the reluctance comes from dependence upon a resistance sensor that's supposed to stop/reverse the closing window if it senses a child's arm or dog's leg. I've owned several vehicles that claim that capability but I am still reluctant to commit a body part to testing its reliability.

A lot of these options sound great but Scout needs to avoid the Tesla pay for software enabled features model (per the launch it sounds like you are). A lot of the over the air/mobil key features sound great but they HAVE to be backed up with robust cybersecurity (ideally with an owner-controlled option to deactivate connectivity features if desired).

So many tech companies decide what is best and take consumers out of the question. Scout Motors is a tech company, in addition to a automotive one. I implore giving some control back to the consumer. I want to own the vehicle, not feel like I'm subscribed to it.

Another thing, don't make updates automatic. Give a notification that an update is available, some release notes and let the consumer decide if and when to update.

An idea to @shazam post. Security conscious mobile phone makers will put physical switches to enable / disable the radios. There could be something similar here.

Stay pumped!

That's a cool idea. Are there any specs on the sustained output for the Harvester and how long it is expected to last on a full tank?
Not sure however a good benchmark is the F150 Hybrid. Read the following from Ford and imagine how on-brand this feature would be for Scout...

What Can I Use the Ford F-150 Onboard Generator For?

The generator can be powered through the FordPass smartphone app or via the truck’s infotainment system. With a robust amount of power available for up to 85-hour run time when on a full tank, your OnBoard Generator can power anything from onsite electric equipment to even possibly your home.

If you are on a worksite taking care of heavy-duty jobs, your onboard generator has more than enough power to charge electric equipment. You will never have to worry about losing power for your jackhammer, circular saw, battery charger, and much more.

When you are off the job at either a neighborhood cookout or tailgate of your favorite sports team, the Ford F-150 onboard generator can provide power to loudspeakers, electric grills or heaters, or projectors. In the event of an emergency, the OnBoard generator can potentially supply power to a home.

Can I request automated parking assist? With a vehicle this big, I think having automated parking assist would be great to have when squeezing into tight spaces or parallel parking.

The GMC Hummer EV has it, and it has an external tire carrier like the Traveler.

Beyond this, I’d like SiriusXM satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Google integration (like the GM EVs, but with CarPlay), and an under-body camera like the Hummer EV so I can see what’s on the trail as I ride over it.

Is this possible to get?

Ford reportedly is dropping the feature based on automated feedback that tells them no one is using it.

Heads up display would be a game changer.

High end stereo like in luxury SUVs

Heated steering wheel, heated/cooled seats

Panoramic glass sunroof option with cool scout homage design

Funky ambient lighting

Ambient lighting was very nicely done in the reveal concepts. Hope it stays through to production. Seats temps are shown as available options for fro t and rear seats

If the EV Scout is to ultimately be a utility vehicle then I cannot see many of those items. Yes I know SM will have to sell a lot to the mass market Sport (aka daily driver) crowd, so those perks seem necessary. I hope we eventually get a model close to the bare bones Scout 80s that I love. I do love my high end stereo, but when my pickup is towing my Scouts to gatherings 1000+ miles away. Funky lighting is something you define for yourself and install yourself. Two years ago I'd have omitted the heated steering wheel, but arthritis has since caught up to me and my aching hands do appreciate the warmth, hope it is an option.
