Scout Motors announces in-vehicle satellite connectivity and highlights Scout Community UX interface at CES 2025

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
So cool to meet Jamie! Seems like such a nice guy and he seems like the kind of guy who just climbed out of a Scout to take in the view from a 12,000 pass! Nicely done! The lady in this video was great too. Actually it really seems like Scout has pulled together a world-class team.

The integration of buttons and screens is even way better than I imagined. And, it peed a little bit when I saw the under body cameras! This vehicle is going to appeal to such a wide range of customers. As a "dyed-in-the-wool" Scout II person (currently an '80 Diesel and 2 other gas models over the past 40 years) I will actually replace my old Scout with one of these. I never thought I would say that and I think a tear just formed in the driveway.

But I do have a new problem with the New Scouts..... Which one? Right off the bat I loved the Traveler. But now I see how crazy cool and capable the Terra is going to be, I'm conflicted. So I'm off to reserve a Terra too.

I've said it probably way too many times, but "Nicely done Scout!"

Say it @J Alynn !!! Preach it

it's the worst thing all these EV/Auto youtubers say it brings me agony every time I hear the word Rivian near a Scout.
The other issue is the Scouts were well into design before the Rivian “partnership” so I think people late to the game have no idea. I know the new vehicles are not retro but maybe SM needs a few ads/FB posts that show the terra next to heritage vehicles and note the carry over details. Sure-those of us with Scout history get it but so many younger buyers won’t so showing the elements as comparison might be a good solution. “Scouts always come back” ….. and in doing so we’ve carried the heritage, the window kink, the grill, the swept wheel arches-the high, simple body side panels. I think there is a way to separate it from Rivian but sooner than later as the CES YouTube video implied Scout is using everything from Rivian and not just zonal architecture. They implied using their batteries even though VW is partnered with battery manufacturers.
Either way I’m all in and still sold on 350 miles of EV so keep marching forward.

I feel like we need to sit Jamie down to clear some stuff up. I thought they were using the Zonal Architecture from Rivian. and the batteries were coming from a different supplier.

And yes i agree with people joining late are mixing everything up and i think they are making it confusing for people who are potential customers.

I'd have to re-listen but I thought they implied using their motors, not their batteries. They do seem intent on using whatever works best which is refreshing in itself.

@Jamie@ScoutMotors saw you on the video, you killed it! Cool to hear how Scout Motors really cares about their customers and the way the product molds to them. Between that, the mechanical side of this EV or REV filling a spot in the market that I feel most consumers always wanted it really is cool to see. Also... wouldn't mind that jacket! lol

@Jamie@ScoutMotors i still think we need a good tailored sports AD: Hockey(I’m a hockey boy incase anyone wanted to know), football, baseball, soccer, and Archery for @J Alynn. Sporting community is huge, especially them Soccer moms 🙄. They are always looking for a new car.

Get those reservations up! 50k+ is great but 100k+ is greater.

We need to get the sports and outdoors people interested.

We all try and dispel the Rivian comparisons. We both sell an SUV and pickup. <Shrug>
As I’ve said, having seen it in person and talked with you at reveal I don’t know how people can say they look like one another other than the Scout kink (tired of BMW getting all the credit for being kinky).
I like the Rivian pick up other than Dory eyes (as @Scoutsie noted at some point) but I really don’t like the R1 s or R2. The Travelers proportions just scream all around do-everything SUV with a little nostalgia swagger. It’s a perfect SUV-IMHO!

Haha! If you only knew the archery pitches I’ve made to Jamie. I’ll keep him in the loop on my concept and many others may actually love the idea but I’ll wait until closer to the sales date when the final vehicles are legit

Does that gas can have a locking cap? Does the Harvester fuel door lock?

I ask because once at a Lake near a high school my truck and about 200 others had Soda put in gas tanks. Most annoying night ever.

The Right Balance of Touch, Tech, and Connection Brings People Together – Scout Motors announces in-vehicle satellite connectivity and highlights Scout Community UX™ interface at CES 2025
  • Scout Motors participates in CES for the first time
  • Scout® Traveler™ sport utility vehicle (SUV) and Scout® Terra™ truck concept vehicles on display in Central Plaza, booth CP-412
  • Scout Motors announces available in-vehicle satellite connectivity for the Scout Traveler and Scout Terra models
  • Scout Community UX™ interface makes its debut at CES, highlighting the right mix of tactile experiences and modern technology
January 2, 2025, Novi, Michigan - Scout Motors Inc., the American startup automotive company with heritage, makes its debut at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Its concept vehicles, the Scout® Traveler™ sport utility vehicle (SUV) and Scout® Terra™ truck, will be on display at the show for the first time. The Scout Motors display location is CP-412.

“To make a true Scout vehicle meant we had to listen to consumers and design a versatile tool for today,” said Scott Keogh, President and CEO, Scout Motors. “We’re pairing powerful, state-of-the-art software and in-vehicle satellite connectivity with a community-focused user interface to make our customers’ driving and ownership experience enjoyable and convenient.”

In-vehicle Satellite Connectivity

To add the capability and features consumers desire, Scout Motors announces available in-vehicle satellite connectivity for both the Scout Traveler SUV and Scout Terra truck models.

For peace of mind when off the grid or traveling in rural areas without cell service, to using your vehicle as a Wi-Fi hotspot for your home, worksite or campsite, the available in-vehicle satellite connectivity is one more way Scout Motors is developing a true Connection Machine™.
More than 70 percent of Scout Motors’ research clinic respondents said in-vehicle satellite connectivity was important and they would be interested in an in-vehicle satellite internet option.

Scout Traveler SUVs and Scout Terra trucks with in-vehicle satellite connectivity will be pre-wired from the factory for the satellite Wi-Fi feature. The vehicle hotspot is intended to have broad reach to help drivers and passengers stay connected in and around their vehicle.

Scout Traveler SUV Concept Vehicle

The Scout Traveler SUV on display at CES has been updated in order to imagine the possibilities with features and accessories consumers can choose for their own Scout vehicle including the Harvester™ Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) option, an added roof rack with forward lighting and space for a satellite antenna, Rallye graphics, and spare-tire-mounted, five-gallon gas can for peace of mind during off-the-grid adventures.

Scout Motors Community UX™

Scout vehicle designers employed a thoughtful, customer-focused process for designing the user experience for the Traveler SUV and Terra truck.

“We listened to our customers and created an experience that’s intuitive, versatile, and uniquely Scout,” said Chris Benjamin, Scout Motors Chief Design Officer. “Our Community UX is grounded, warm, and approachable, yet it’s innovative and modern, offering everything drivers need without overwhelming their experience.”

The Community UX interface is setting a new benchmark for human-centered design in Scout vehicles. The system will deliver a seamless integration of intuitive technology, tactile controls, responsiveness, and adaptable design, creating a connected experience for drivers and passengers alike.

With the right balance of touch and tech, the Community UX interface redefines the relationship between physical and digital controls, blending thoughtfully placed tactile buttons, knobs, and hardware with highly responsive screens. This approach provides drivers with the right control at the right time and ensures that essential features are always within reach. From HVAC adjustments to vehicle settings, quick access controls utilize familiar gestures, such as a swipe-down interface, to offer an instinctive, smartphone-like experience. It’s a helpful companion for every journey.

Designed for safety and security, simplicity, and comfort, Scout vehicles prioritize safety and usability through thoughtful ergonomics. A 16.2-inch, 24:9 ratio screen aligns with the dashboard for better visibility, reducing blind spots, and enhancing readability. Larger icons, clear layouts, and generous touch areas ensure a low-effort interaction for both drivers and passengers. Physical and digital controls work in harmony, helping drivers stay focused on the road while maintaining control of key features.

Blending heritage with ingenuity, Community UX reflects the Scout brand’s bold legacy and innovative spirit. By pairing modern technology with authentic, tactile interactions, it becomes more than just a user interface—it’s a connection machine that builds bonds between the driver, vehicle, and the land around them.

Its great to hear and see some of the additions to the traveler and the terra. I watched the out of spec review video they made at the CES and boy im glad to see how the User interface is looking and i really like what i see. I cant wait to own one

Good video but i agree with many in this forum. It’s getting old when they are comparing it to Rivian. It doesnt look like a rivian its a scout true and true. kyle input should only be only on ev charging and thermals. He doesnt like buttons and wants it to look like a telsa interior. 😝
Like many, I agree with you wholeheartedly. Scout is Scout and Rivian is Rivian. I’ve never once looked at it and said “wow that looks like a Rivian”.

I will say in silhouette form the pick ups have a similar shape but so do Fords, Chevy and GMC. It’s a more modern looking pick up with simple lines so I get a quick glance similarity but if you are running a YouTube channel take a more educated approach. There was two of them there they could’ve taken images and amazing notes then voiced over rather than on the spot filming that made them sound uneducated about the vehicles. That said-I’m glad they got to see the UX and the Nicole from SM did an excellent job on her walk through.

Hi TigerEyejazz, i meant the guy on the video and others have said it looks like a Rivian. I apologize if i came across as implying you did. Not at all. :-(.

Totally get that. Trucks are going to have Truck vibes. If I ever get the chance to review one when it does the tour I’ll make sure not to say Rivian lmao

Awesome news and thanks for attending CES. I would want to get the sat WIFI, extra gas can and roof rack.

  • For gas can can we get a lock cap? and possible to get 2 cans on there? What capacity was this can?
  • Can we get WIFI sat option without roof rack?
  • Will roof rack work on all 3 roof types (glass, canvas or solid?)
Additional things I'd like to see (from my Bronco accessories: (Things I bought and use a lot)
  • ARB type bull bar to protect from roam cows etc. on dead HI ways thru NV etc. (like around Area 51)
  • Lockable storage (i have an ARB slide out drawer in truck and its always full of stuff)
  • More info on built in air compressor? I have ARB duel I'd want this or better??
  • Mounts for ditch lights (I'm sure after market will make them but maybe Scout can be pre wired or make it easier some how?) Also mabye aftermarket lights can tie into lighting control so can be controls by aux switch and screen?
I'd like to see Scout at as many shows as possible and hopefully some on west coast.
