What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Photos flatten terrain, this is a 3-4 foot drop from a road into a yard, and I'm hooked to a steel deck 18" car hauler with a a 2002 GMC Sierra 4x4 on it.

I needed wheel speed to get a run at this hill, to yeet the whole load up onto the cleared, paved road.

I would like, to be able to back up with the door open, below 2 mph or whatever for safety, please don't slam me into park when I'm trying to line up a trailer.

I would like to be able to fully disable traction controls for snow and sand and mud when I need to, again, make it below 30 mph or whatever for safety/durability.

And I would like to be able to integrate trailer camera's on the market, if I choose to.

I am most concerned about winter-ready features, ..electronic and otherwise. Physical door handles is good, physical dash controls is good, maximum heated things would be good too. How about traction control.. anyone heard if there's a "Snow and Ice" specific traction drive mode ?
Can’t imagine it won’t be offered. On a vehicle of this sort it’s almost mandatory

This is probably a dumb question, but can I get wireless phone charging with the bench seat, like in a sliding tray in the dashboard or something? Or do I need the center console for that?
Good question. I think there is a tray with the bench option. I’m just not sure if it also has a wireless charger.

just seems to me like there is a difference between "hot" and "melts my privates together". At that temperature, I would think paying her medical bills wouldn't be too much to ask.
Not to get too far off topic but according to https://www.poolelg.com/blog/the-truth-behind-the-mcdonald-s-hot-coffee-case-.cfm:

During the trial, it was revealed that McDonald’s knew that heating their coffee to this temperature would be dangerous, but they did it anyway because it would save them money. When you serve coffee that is too hot to drink, it will take much longer for a person to drink their coffee, which means that McDonald’s will not have to give out as many free refills of coffee. This policy by the fast food chain is the reason the jury awarded $2.7 million dollars in punitive damages in the McDonald's hot coffee case. Punitive damages are meant to punish the defendant for their inappropriate business practice.”

I did ask the interior lead designer at the reveal this question. He said the wireless charger for a bench set up would be in the middle, on the lower portion of the dash.

As a current owner of a Jeep, both a bare bones Wrangler, and a fully loaded Grand Cherokee L, I feel a bit spoiled with the tech of the GCL. There have been several great posts about this and it is hard to sift through them all and not list something that may be already listed. I would like to be able to have this unit not only be an offroad fun rig but also a daily driver that can be taken on road trips.

Things I would love to have:
- Fully assisted driving. Lane keep, adaptive cruise control, lane change, etc., it would be great to have something as good as the Chevy's Super Cruise.
- Fully integrated wireless Apple CarPlay that can recognize multiple phones AND maybe have Apple Car Play be a full dash user interface that has been talked about.
- THIS ONE REALLY ANNOYS ME ON MY CURRENT RIGS. I would like to be able to view full Apple CarPlay AND the native music screen. Have to switch back and forth to look at music and Appl Maps
- My Jeep GCL has a ton of pop-up notifications that take over and stay on the drivers screen for 5 seconds, ANNOYING! At least keep the MPH and Tach visible.
- Heated and Cooled seats
- Camera for a rear view mirror.
- Multiple passenger memories for seats, mirrors, etc.
- Interior LED lighting with light customization, think Mercedes.
- Able to connect aftermarket light and accessories easily with pre-wired hookups throughout the wiring harness.
- Rear gate accessories for cook tops, trays, etc.
- Rear trunk power connections, ie 110v, 12v, etc. also an air compressor.

I will keep adding as I think of stuff.

1) Satellite Radio Support - Every other car I've owned has SiriusXM built in. In my Tesla, I had to stream it via the app on my phone over Bluetooth. There is no reason for this. Please, build it into the car.

2) Heated Steering Wheel - I just barely missed this getting integrated into my M3P. Please don't miss that bus....it's a GREAT feature.

3) Good Wiper System - I once heard a wiper system as one of the most difficult systems in a car to get right. Tesla's was awful......please, please, please put the work in to get that one correct.

4) Heat Pump - My '21 M3P was the first of the Teslas to get a heat pump and the corresponding efficiency bump that came along with it. Hopefully this technology will be used by Scout as well.

5) Apple Car Play - If you can integrate this, it would be awesome. I know you won't need it for navigation (I assume that will be built in for charging purposes), but there are a lot of features that are also useful. Plus....that'd be a bit less your software engineers have to sort out.

6) Heated and Cooled Seats - Pretty standard now and, as I understand it, a more efficient method of warming/cooling an occupant

7) Wireless Charging - My Tesla had this...and it really was great. Get in the car, set the phone down and let it work. One of the features I really do miss from my M3P.

8) Good/Clear Backup camera - Nothing worse that a useless backup camera. Especially at night.

9) Don't fall into the trap of making everything work via a touch screen. Please.

10) Built in Trailer Brake Controller - The Terra is rated at 10k lbs towing. It needs a brake controller. Please don't make me install an aftermarket one.

11) Tow Mode - If you're towing, have the truck understand that and automatically adjust the sensors, cameras, cooling, power curves, etc. My current truck screams at me every time I get in it with my trailer behind me until I turn off the rear radar. If a trailer is plugged into the plug in the back, then it's time for Tow Mode.

12) Real Key and Phone Key - Kinda miss my phone key from my M3P, but I never really liked the Hotel Key Card system that Tesla used. How about a real key/fob with the option of using a phone key as well?

13) Have the truck tell me what's limiting charge flow. Is it the truck? Is it the charger? Why is it limited?

14) Configurable Gauge Cluster/Screen - Let me pick what information I want to see and give me some options on how to see it.

If you watch recent CES videos you’ll see a lot of what you want is being offered

The moon-roof mechanism, have we seen a closeup of it? What’s the material ? Will it work well in freezing temps, snow and ice ? Or just a setting that automatically disables it when it would damage itself by trying to open?

We’re told at reveal it would be made by an established company that makes tops. That narrows it to like 2 or 3. Nothing conclusive but it looked well built.
Is there a reason you would want to open it in freezing weather?
I would assume it’s treated functionally just like a power moonroof based on what we saw. I don’t ever open my moonroof in freezing weather so never considered it as a concern.

While I'm dreaming, I'd like a high-res infrared thermal camera that does a full-windshield heads-up overlay while driving at night... :ROFLMAO:

I’m not thinking I’d have many reasons to open it in winter, but if there are a few inches of ice and snow on it and I hit the button by accident don’t want it to damage itself.

just for info, the lady who sued about the coffee was burned so severely that her privates melted together where the coffee spilled. McDonalds had been warned that they were keeping the coffee at extremely unsafe temperatures but refused to change because keeping it that hot made it last longer. All she asked was for them to cover her medical expenses and they said no, so she sued. It isn't as good an example of sue-happy people as people have been led to believe.
Didn't she also place the coffee between her legs and not in a cup holder?

Rear view cameras have been mandatory since 2018, but it would be nice to have a stock dashcam. Saved our bacon in an accident.

If it's not included, it will be the first thing I add.

One other aftermarket I added to my old Sorento were rear view cameras on the side mirrors. Turn your turn signal on and it shows you the lane.

Also good for parking spots to see the lanes.
