What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I agree though I think if car runs more than 15 minutes or so it should honk periodically unless in regen mode when powering a house during electrical outage. I recently was at an event where they announced someone let there car running at least 45 minutes. Not a tree hugger and believe natural selection should eventually eliminate clueless people but some people need a reminder-apparently 🤣. The event was 3-1/2 hours long so imagine had somebody not been by it twice to realize it was still running for 45-ish minutes and made an announcement.
Back to McD’s needing the hot warning on their coffee cups. Another layer of CYA because of clueless/sue happy people
I agree 100% about the 15 minute thing. But when I get out, shut the door, and head to my mailbox I really don't need the truck to honk twice. Now if I walk away and 10 minutes later haven't come back, then honk away.

Side question/Random Thought:
When I walk away from my current Ram and leave it on, the truck is running. If I walk away from the Scout and do the same thing, is it "running" or just powered up?

Wouldn't be too hard to have a USBC port on the rear view mirror that would allow for aftermarket power. I would prefer that over it coming with its own.
Agree make it an option. Whether or not you decide to submit your dash cam footage should be your choice and if every model has it you will likely get lawyers demanding it cause they know it's there.

So this thread is now 19 pages and has a wide range of asks and please don'ts. Other than the few who had face to face time with engineers/ directors at the reveal, I at least feel a little lost in what is and isn't going to be incorporated.

I understand the desire to keep us engaged, but it is starting to feel a little like work to monitor the suggestions and steer towards or away from them. Could the SM team chime in here and maybe let us know which suggestions are definitely in and which are definitely out and maybe take the rest and put them in a poll so we can all respond once and feel like it was captured? And maybe make the poll tiered like "must have as standard" to "i will request my deposit back if included standard"?

I think in a number of cases it is too early to say what is in and out. We have said there will be a mix of screens and buttons in the vehicle and you can expect the typical features available in most EV/vehicle products and rugged off-road type vehicles. Not every feature will be in every trim level, but I think the mix will be good.

how many trim levels are we looking at? lol

I’m guessing everything OS related will be standard across the board? Beside maybe a connectivity subscription of some sort.

But actual features like heated seats, power mirrors, etc. will be add-on or different trims?

It’s like new appliances they all have reminders. My oven plays a song when it’s done preheating it’s like are people not aware anymore? Same with my wash and dryer they also play a song that are at least a minute long. And they all connect to an app it’s like how lazy have us as humans gotten in the past 10 years?
It’s the invention of the cell phone as a mobile distraction. Once they became more than phones that’s when everyone quit thinking and paying attention

Thanks Jamie! I appreciate how hard you guys are working on this and look forward to hearing more about your packaging options!

Apple CarPlay (a must)
A killer sound system please
Lane assist that actually works
Remote start that turns the heat (including seats) on when it's cold and the a/c when it's hot
Unlock when you simply walk up to the car (assuming you have the key on you)
Ability to control when it actively charges (so being able to plug it in in the evening, but have it charge during off peak hours)
An easy, smooth user interface. So many new cars, especially EVs are too complicated. I love the fact that it will have simple knobs and buttons, but the computer screen should be simple and easy to navigate.
Can't wait!

just for info, the lady who sued about the coffee was burned so severely that her privates melted together where the coffee spilled. McDonalds had been warned that they were keeping the coffee at extremely unsafe temperatures but refused to change because keeping it that hot made it last longer. All she asked was for them to cover her medical expenses and they said no, so she sued. It isn't as good an example of sue-happy people as people have been led to believe.

Weather radar on map, like what the latest Tesla update has.
I would love to be able to get a weather report/plan for long trips. The map knows about how quickly I will get places and the weather knows how fast rain or whatever will get places. Does anyone have an app or anything that can combine those and tell me I might want to wait an hour or so to leave so I avoid the the storm that is going to be at the town 200 miles away at the time I would get there if I don't wait?

Heated and cooled seats

Heated mirrors

Heated steering wheel

Wireless phone charger

Apple Car Play
💯on the heated seats.. front (across the whole bench) and rear. Bonus heated mirrors and steering wheel.. Winter/Cold-ready electronics is my #1 question mark for this design. Make it super-clear what’s drawing battery and what’s not, to preserve range in sub-0.

There is a little more to the story than that. The older lady was in the passenger seat. Since the Ford Probe they were driving did not have cup holders, and the dash is sloped, her grandson pulled into a parking spot after they got their order. She decided to put the cup of hot coffee between her legs and proceeded to take the lid off to put cream and sugar in it. I can't imagine trying to stop hot coffee from spilling while squeezing the cup with one's knees. But she did. Was the coffee too hot, and were there complaints, yes, about 700 total over a 10-year period, which is very small considering how many cups of coffee have been sold in that time period.

Take the story how you will, but I personally expect coffee to be hot. And I'm not going to take the lid off and balance it between my legs while I try to add cream and sugar. Just my 2 cents.

just seems to me like there is a difference between "hot" and "melts my privates together". At that temperature, I would think paying her medical bills wouldn't be too much to ask.

Maybe so. But why would anyone open a hot cup of coffee...no matter how "hot" and place it between your legs? I mean, Darwin has to laughing at this.

Right now I have a Raptor and Bronco and Wife has Telluride which is what I want the scout to replace. All have max options:

  • Adaptive Cruise with lane centering (similar or better then Kia's system) [Like HDA but better]
  • Very comfy long drive seats (10+ way adjust or do like Porsche, have 3 options or more) [So old people can drive 800-1k miles a day without back ache]
  • Something like Blue Cruise or Supper Cruise for mapped HI ways (adaptive is for unmapped)
  • Heads up Display (helps keeps eyes on road)
  • Rear AC/Heat vents
  • I would like heated seat back only and/or bottom (so 2 switches) I seen this I think in a photo??) [Miss on last Chevy truck]
  • Trail cruise control, one pedal for off road and trail turn assists (Makes easier for friends etc. to drive off road)
  • Info screen that displays elevation, wind speed, temperature etc. (all info on one display so we can save or send to ourselves for trip reports etc.
  • Rail on dash for GoPro etc. (like Bronco h as, USB on dash too)
  • Hidden storage compartments around (more storage is always better)
  • A place for wife to put purse (maybe a net to hold on place too so I don't have to hear screaming when it rolls onto floor on a corner)
  • Off road maps (ability to map trip and print/save/send reports
  • A standard roof for overlanders or people that live in areas that get 120 degrees in summer (other 2 will be brutal)
  • Games (need something to do while charging)
  • Nav system can take relatives times you want to eat breakfast, lunch dinner and suggest places to eat for those and if you select them route them into trip (of course around chargers) [Don't just copy Tesla here make it better]
  • More Towing on SUV model (10K on truck is fine, but 7k on SUV is little low? can we bump it to 8k?) [I want to tow 2 SxS's (Maverick R's) extra gear and gas in an enclosed trailer] (my estimates are 7k to 7.5k so 8k would be nice??)
Off a lot of options. Most US companies have limited options, IMO only Porsche does it right and offers stuff for wide range of people with top end stuff being rare but its still there for those with deep pockets or strong need for that one item.

Nothing was said about the center position on the bench seat having heating and cooling. Great question though! I’ll see what I can find out.
I am most concerned about winter-ready features, ..electronic and otherwise. Physical door handles is good, physical dash controls is good, maximum heated things would be good too. How about traction control.. anyone heard if there's a "Snow and Ice" specific traction drive mode ?
