How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I'm already thinking wheels too, Nomad has a nice spinoff of the steelies that i'd consider. Some of the legacy Scout's onsite had theme. Also, the pre-productions had KO3's how incredible is that!?

I would like to see off road bumpers that allow for lights to be mount like Baja lp6 or lp9’or s series lights in my own selfish needs ha. I’m excited to add my own touches to it but also love to do a one stop shop and buy things and have the truck delivered ready to go with roof rack platform and bumpers direct from you. Less time modifying and more time enjoying it.

There was a screen shot during the reveal of a green Scout that had an offroad bumper with a bullbar hoop. Not a stinger. It looked really good and I feel fairly certain that bumper would accomodate offroad lights. Based on the look and quality of the accessories we were shown I bet Scout will have a killer factory option for almost anything.

Scout intends to land vehicles to owners at $60K or so, to start.

The more a la carte they go, the more expensive and hand-built it all becomes? I'd like to have a base option that compromises none of the drivetrain, with full spare, all premium paints, and technical fabric interiors. From there, you should be able to work your way (up) through the build, just as others do (VW actually had very few trim options for Atlas on launch).

Post-factory options, with transparent dealer installation pricing, should be plentiful. Bolt-on accessories like roof racks, bumpers and winches, rock sliders, underbody kit, suspension mods, rallye graphics, light packages should be in the "installed accessories" menu in the final stages of ordering. And all of it should be designed to bolt-on, wire-in, and be fully integrated and warrantied.

There will be plenty of "on-own" aftermarket items for customizing (read: breaking and voiding) these soon enough. But Scout Motors should make and install kit that will get us there and HOME, and engineer it to that level. Too many other manufacturers compromise on this, and others only offer key chains and YETI tumblers with their name on it. Let's not be that!

I do like the fact that they are already planning on different bumpers. That said, like many things, they are a matter of personal preference, so I hope the allow aftermarket options. I personally have enjoyed ranch hand grill guards and replacement bumpers. All it really takes is saving one trip to the body shop because a stupid deer decides to commit suicide by truck.

The day I got my Golf TDI, they had a really pretty used Mustang on the lot - so I came home with the Golf, and my wife came home with the Mustang. A dog decided to commit suicide by Mustang. The Mustang cost 9k, the dog did 7k worth of damage - all in less than 1hr of Mustang ownership. To date, 2 deer have committed suicide by TDI - but at least those were a bit cheaper ($2k on the first, and $250 on the second). To date, 3 deer suicides with ranch hand grill guards - no vehicle damage (ok, one took out the side view mirror).

That said, they have not been without complications. The Ford dealer put on a Ranch Hand replacement bumper on my F250 before I took delievery. Took 2 months to figure out they messed up and the mess up disabled my cruise control.

Having seen the vehicles in person and seeing the frunk slide bench and trainable tub and cup holders is there a way to incorporate fishing rod holders for those who drive beach and surf fish. Could create a fishing molle panel and maybe pop-out rod holes somewhere. Could sit on the slide bench, store catch on ice next to cold beers.
Maybe bottom of cup holder could have pop out hole for rods to anchor

We only saw two styles of 20" wheels at the reveal. However, I have heard that the smallest wheel would be an 18". That could very easily be a steel wheel option.

Interesting, I don’t want 20’s on an off road vehicle, they are for pavement princesses & 18’s are better but 17’s sidewalks really help absorbing impact & road feel. Bet the heavy weight has something to do with 18’s as the smallest

Scout is looking at K03’s as factory tire….hummm

I was a BFG fanboy till a snow storm and a Raptor with K02’s collided & we got stuck 4-5 times in a few blocks trying to get home….hopefully the new K03 is more like MT/AT hybred as that’s a wicked tire

I want anodized aluminum wheels like what you have pictured in clear machine finish, give it a old school look/vibe

I just worry that options is synonymous with price increase. I mean don't get me wrong I don't expect the world and not pay for it. But like if you opt for "crawler" package it'd be set set price increase but then maybe an option of a handful of different bumpers, rock sliders, recovery hooks, etc just to make it unique enough to call it yours from the factory.

What got me onboard with this vehicle was the claim that it's being designed to be easy to work on for the do-it-yourselfer at home (or on the trail). If that holds true, then there should be a thriving third-party parts/accessories market to support all the wacky and niche customizations.

As soon as I get the vehicle home, I'll probably put on a winch, bigger tires, an air compressor, and a bunch of electronics (radios, mostly). Having full-RGB interior lights is useful so I can make it all red working in the dark and have less impact on night vision. Making it easy to tie into the wiring harness, to run my own wires/coax (without looking terrible or having to cut or break a bunch of clips/paneling), having factory bolt holes in all the right places to add things... that's the sort of customization I want. Factory option for a good, rugged bed liner that stands up to shovels and gravel would be nice. Lots of colors and trims... meh.

Options are good, customization is good. So long as Scout follows through with letting me ditch the Cabana too in favor of the glass roof - that alone will make me happy. But it would be nice to have some factory rim options. Not limiting interior colors to certain exterior paints will also make me a happy camper.

I think the vision should always be that base has all the features and everything else is just customization touches or swapping out visual pieces.

Will be excitedly following along now that I have my reservation in.

I love having interior and exterior customization options, colors, electronics; fabrics, wheels and tires, seating, etc. that allow for personalization

It makes me feel like I am getting the value and features that I truly want instead of compromising here and there on a vehicle of this expected cost.

For the Traveler, you need to gain the city crowd. That is those who will never/rarely go off-roading. That would entail having a trim with road / all season tires, and a rear wheel drive trim that maximizes the EV range. And a third row for the Traveler! The car is bigger than R1S definitely can fit a third row in there! This is a must for mall crawlers!

I won't be surprised if there is a "surprise" option for a 3rd row. It certainly seems long enough. Even if it's only for children, it seems like a no brainer to offer it as an option. I'd get it if it removed easily.

I see a lot of bro-dozer trucks here in Colorado that never leave the pavement too.

I for one do NOT want a standard 3rd row in the Traveler. It will compromise rear cargo space. Optional is fine.
