Daily Driver Comforts

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
No matter whether it supports phone-as-key, retina scan or brain implants, I’d really like to ensure that there is a physical key backup that works when the battery is dead or you’re far from a network, so I can at least crawl into the vehicle to be safe from mosquito attacks.

I suppose safety from bears might be too much to hope for . . .
It used to be fashionable to carry a lock pick in your wallet - just in case - but what do you do when there's no lock to pick? As we venture further into the era of high tech everything, and with our Scouts further from civilization, there's a comfort to knowing there are some simple failsafes that will allow us to function, even live, when all else fails for the lack of an electron.

That and air cooled seats are the best
I didn’t know that air cooled seats existed until I test drove a KIA and it was amazing! Cool air straight from the AC pumped through the seat kept my back wonderfully sweat free!

(Or was that TMI?)

I’d call you out for being a lazy driver 😀 but it’s a great feature. Had it on our Acura and we used it A LOT! Definitely a nice feature
J Alynn, I don't know whether to hit the REPORT button for insulting a new member, or to agree, or tell you you missed an opportunity. We are aware that some of the rock crawler crowd add a camera or two in each wheel-well, too. Are they too lazy to hop out and assess the situation or just using technology to be better informed and to better get through the course?

My Tundra has 360º cameras, plus I have a few personal mobility problems, so yes, I love those views and guidance overlays which allow me to park that monster in some awkward places. Which experience suggests to me that that will be the only use of the feature on 95% of the SM Scouts (and even the rock-crawlers seem to show up in parking lots a lot (99% ??).

Yet when I drive my Scouts 80/800, even though they are equipped with the larger West Coast Junior mirrors, I quickly am reminded of how inadequate my views are. But pause, . . . . . . I can still call upon 59 years of driving early Scouts and remember where the edges are.

We likely can presume that 360º tech is now so standard that it will just be in whatever 3rd-party package that SM decides to source from. I'll be happy it's there, and so will some of my less functional (human) body parts. Maybe SM should offer an accessory plug-in to this feature to accommodate eight extra cameras: wheel well or elsewhere.

I find the 360 degree view also useful for ensuring you are centered when parking... The overhead view of the white parking stripes left to right or forward to back are great.

They are completely useful everywhere. We just rid of the Acura and first thing my wife said was she missed the 360 camera. I think an optional camera package especially for the rock crawler group would be great.

360 camera is great. I had another thought related to visibility: 360 lights. I often drive down a single lane country road with a lot of bushes etc right up to the road. When someone comes the other way, one you you have to pull off into some spot between shrubs/trees/etc, often having to back up while doing so. This gets tricky at night...in the rain. So, 360 lights. Hit a button and all of a sudden it's daylight all around!
