Welcome and Introductions!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
New member here, grew up with a 62 (I think) IH Scout pickup the family business had & it was a beast in the winter that started my love affair with 4x4’s

Winters here in Wyoming can be harsh & we go to Saskatchewan regularly in the winter, had a Raptor but it was horrible in deep snow so it went by by for a. Super duty with a full Carli suspension (everything in the catalog) and a Transfer Flow 58 gal gas tank

Put down a reservation for Traveler Scout-Gas

How engaged is corporate Scout here? Do they read & contemplate out of the box thoughts & concerns?? (example….EV in Wyoming with very few charging stations)

Hello from the land of maple syrup! I've been a huge car nut basically my entire life and have owned way more cars then I probably should have haha. Been a huge fan of Jeeps and Broncos for the longest time, and absolutely just fell head over heals with the new Traveler design. I feel that it takes all I love from the new Bronco and molds in into something that is perfect in every way. The range extender option is what sealed the deal for me as I think this is the perfect combination of the two techs.

I'm from the Ottawa Ontario region and I'm looking forward to any other canucks that are taking the plunge with me, and I cant wait to make the guys in the off road club jealous when I pull up haha.

Been on since day 2? Many of their design and team members read it daily. There are some great existing threads here-most started by @Jamie@ScoutMotors. Investigate them, learn everything that’s been asked over the nearly two years now and see if we covered. If not drop them a note on those threads.
6 of us on the forum are lifers (🤣) and just got back from the reveal. We are here to help answer questions but right now there are TONS of new members posting lots of new items. We can’t keep up right now so I’m sure Scout team is struggling. Use the search tools to narrow your thoughts and you’ll be amazed what all we’ve covered over the last 23-1/2 months 🤣

Do not understand your statement about been on since day 2, I’m confused

I’m on my iPhone as it’s just easier than the laptop & struggling to learn the forum

I just learned of the new Scout less than 24 hours ago & placed a reservation at 0106 Saturday morning after swearing I’d never own a EV 🤣🤣🤣

Have seen other vehicle forums where the manufacturer owns/admin then with next to zero actual interaction thus my question

The SM forum has been active for nearly two years. I joined on November 14th of 2022. Just saying I’ve been on for quite some time and Jamie and the SM team is active and supportive. The forum is managed/moderated by Scout Motors. If you search threads started by @Jamie@ScoutMotors and read through all the pages you’ll see lots of interaction.

Hi everyone, and welcome to the Scout Community forum!

My name is Jamie (Jamie@ScoutMotors), and with my cohort Chris (Chris@ScoutMotors), we will be your central "tour guides," so to speak, here in the forums. We will do our best to answer your questions, help with any forum issues you might have, and generally try and keep things moving along and share Scout news when we can. We couldn't be more excited about the return of Scout and hope you are as well.

About myself - I've been a lifelong car enthusiast and have owned various brands and types. I've also modified many cars along the way and love to tinker and explore. I started the VW enthusiast website, VWvortex back in the day, and it became one of the biggest automotive forums in the world, so I've had a lot of experience running forums like this one. At VWVortex, we built and restored numerous cars, from some beautiful Volkswagen Mk2 GTIs to a 500hp "Super" Beetle converted to AWD that won awards at the SEMA show. All of it was shared with our readers in detail in our forums and on our website, and I think you will see similar things here at the Scout forums in the future.

Growing up, one of my uncles had a Scout 800a with a V8 that he was "restoring" for many years. Not a ton of progress was made outside of basic (and non-basic!) maintenance, but I remember spending a lot of time in the garage with a beverage or two discussing the potential. It was great fun to tool around in, and we'd often take it into town to run errands where numerous people would stop to ask questions and share their Scout stories.

I've been an avid outdoors person most of my life and have spent time overlanding, back country hiking for days, off-roading everything from mud bogs down south to Hells Revenge to Imogene Pass to Black Bear Pass. I have also helped wrench numerous Jeep, Toyota, Nissan and Ford off-road projects, so I have some background that lends itself well to being involved in Scout.

You rarely get a chance to be involved in the start of a car company, let alone one with the history that Scout has. I am as excited as you to see what the team puts together and can tell you that everyone behind the scenes is incredibly passionate about this undertaking. The new Scout can't be everything to everyone, but the team here is trying hard to tick all the boxes that make a Scout a Scout.

So welcome to the forum, and please take a moment to introduce yourself, tell us any Scout stories you may have, and join us on this ride as we work to bring the Scout back to America.

See you in the forums!

- Jamie
Hello, my name is Joe live in Florida Fort Myers area. I currently drive a Volvo xc90 plug in recharge. 2023 so by the time you guys bring this to reality seems sometime in 2027 I'll be ready. We trailer a pontoon with our xc90 so interested in trailer hitch configuration. As intrigued with gas recharging system is that activated while driving to give you extended range. Or doesn't engage until batteries are depleted. Sound dampening charging times battery configuration and warranties durations and mobile service etc. Have a traveler reserved looking forward to the journey. We travel from New Jersey to Florida twice a year we're both 65 and retired hoping to add a bulldog to the mix again so need a comfy place for my best friend.

Howdy, friends. I'm Calvin, I'm in Austin, and I want a vehicle I can work on with my kids that can tow our 1988 Avion 34W all over the country and, occasionally, spend a bit of time off-road.

I was preparing to do an Edison conversion on a 2004 Ford Excursion 4x2 with the PowerStroke engine so I didn't have to modify my 2001 Excursion 4x4 with the 7.3.

I dropped that plan like a hot potato last night as soon as I saw that the Terra could tow 10k and had a range extender. My fingers are crossed for a diesel range extender but I'm so happy about the Terra that I reserved a Terra and a Traveler.

Glad to be here, friends.

10k is impressive! A shortcoming of Wrangler and Jeeps is that they're limited to 3,500#'s. My dream, tow an 800 or Scout II with the Terra at an IH-related event such as Harvester Homecoming, Truck nationals, or Harvester in the Holler to name a few.

Hi to you and everyone else who is new, and welcome to the Scout Community forum.

Yes, our teams read these forums quite a bit, and in fact, I've already gotten several notes from team members since the reveal about the activity and suggestions in our forums. I'm here regularly, and in the future, we will have a few more team members coming in, asking questions, looking for suggestions, and overall engaging with our future customers.

So welcome to the Community, settle in, chime in, and we absolutely will try and add as many ideas and suggestions people make.

Jamie

That’s actually really incredible that Scout is taking the time to read this forum, not as a PR measure but actually looking into suggestions to see if they are viable

To say I’m impressed is an understatement & makes me glad to have jumped on the Scout Harvester bandwagon 😎😎

Now about my winter sub artic weather conditions concern….😉😉😁

Put in my reservation yesterday after watching a YouTube video about the new vehicles from the launch event. I'm pretty excited to see what the final products will include! I'm a long time Jeeper, life long off-roader and cyclist. I love being outside! The very first real off-road trip I can remember as a kid was a trip to Moab Utah in my dad's Scout II. It was an awesome trip and sparked a real love for off-roading! Looking forward to being part of this community!

Hope to see you and your rig at the Upper Canada ATCA truck show in Athens, ON next August. It is held in conjunction with the largest collection of IH trucks in the world. Should be a good introduction the the Scout family and it's related cousins.

Hello all JB here from Telluride! I think I'm in the minority here, I never grew up with a Scout in the family. Instead I was exposed to them when I was growing up in South Africa. There was a man in Jo Burg who swore by them and their effectiveness in the bush. He had what he called a Scout halfcab which was a Two door Terra. I knew from the first time I saw it I would own a Scout.

Anyways I'm excited to finally be included in the Scout Family!

Hi all, new checking in Southeastern PA. Never owned a scout, but did have a fascination with my neighbors Scout II when I was a child. Very excited to be on the list for a traveler.

Love the fact that Scout has brought back the community via the “forums”. My love for cars started at a young age, but I really became part of the community in 2002 when I joined VWVortex (hint hint Jamie). I’ve owned a bit of everything over the years from Ford Powerstroke trucks to Benz wagons and countless VAG products. Currently in an X5D.

Very excited to see the Scout community grow!

Welcome aboard. Lots of info to check out and a handful of us just came back from the reveal as guests so any questions fire away. If we can answer we will -if not we will defer to @Jamie@ScoutMotors
