Welcome and Introductions!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Hello all from So California.
I've been involved with EVs for about 18 years.

With the Green Power Program I drove a RAV EV, always solar charged.
110 mile range, expect 90 best be back on the charger by 70. Took 24 hours to charge.

We pulled into Baker Calif to fuel our Diesel truck some years back. The station had Tesla chargers and at the time I realized its going to go serious.

Our latest a EV6, almost always Solar charged at home and a few solar powered charging locations on the road as well.

The Toyota Rav EV Rep was a guy named Brad. Enthusiastic and motivated and terrific.
The Kia Dealer we bought from EV service rep,,, is Brad.

We'll always select EV vehicles to buy if available and will fit our needs.
The Scout looks sooo promising.

Yes. I still want to find that land fill that is 2 miles wide and stretches over the horizon, full of EV batteries that the opponents claim is out there.
Latest conversation was with a service writer friend from a local Audi Dealership.

Convinced his job is at stake.

I politely mentioned:
We have HUGE Tesla service center nearby with a half acre back log of car to fix. Look inside at the mechanics with cars torn apart parts scattered all over the place.

Local Kia dealer stop taking EV appointments. They''ll get back to you.
Our Chevy dealer had to train two more mechanics on EVs.

Instead of a gas tank ya have batteries.
Instead of an engine ya have up to 3 motors, that break.

Elect Motors with transmissions are next. Porsche has them on the road already.
Allison was talking up their EV truck motors with transmission to increase range.

Nothing to-worry about.

How's it going Scout community. Names Rocky and my home base is sunny Arizona. I love Scouts and been building these for years. Glad to be here and can't wait for the new models to be released. Thanks for having me.
Welcome, @OEM+ ! You're jumping in just when things are going to get exciting.

Having fun getting caught up. ;)

This is definitely something to worry about as a consumer. My own anecdote is going to a Cadillac dealership in Longview, TX for a CEL. They had ONE mechanic who worked on EV/ PHEV. My issue was just some bad gas but I talked to him awhile and he told me there were others trained on EVs but that they refused to work on EVs out of fear of their HV systems. He had customers that came from Shreveport, LA because NO ONE there would work on EVs.
Things do break and Scout better be ready with trained service techs to fix things in a timely manner.

Had my R1T for over 2 years which is about the point I start looking for something fresh. We have the R1S also and a Bronco Badlands weekender. Hoping the Scout is the next reservation I place and spend a couple of years explaining to people what it is and who makes it. ("What's that car?" - oh it's a Rivian...."who makes it?"....oh it's a newer company called 'Rivian', they make them in Illinois...."yeah but who makes it?"....) We've all been there right?

Hoping the reveal is everything we all wish for.

Don't worry, if it looks anything like the 80/800 or II, you'll get the "nice bronco" at the gas stations when you go there and get snacks, not gas of course! ;)

Hi all. New member Bob. I owned a 1976 Scout II. Patriot model white with red and blue stripe. Owned it for 15 years. Heavily modified, 3/4 ton axles with spring over conversion, 40 inch Super Swampers, 5.38 gears. Built 392 motor out of a IHC truck. One big question for me is will the new Scout come with factory rust like mine did?

I heard it will be an option- a VERY expensive option. It won’t be offered in the Midwest however as the dry climate will not allow the rust package to perform to its optimal spread and output. There is also a pro-salt option which removes the chemical coating but only east and west coast locations. A special order will permit gulf states but it’s one of those packages that adds a bunch of nonsense like delaminated chrome bumpers and street view (option offering holes in the floor and below the door sills). It too will be a costly option

I asked something similar very early on. I was sent a video of the technology used and lengths that VW groups go to to prevent rust. I’m in a saltwater flood prone area and it matters. I think we will be in good shape!

Hey all, I joined the community back in 2023 but have lurked until today :) Some previous vehicles I coming from are 02 7.3 f250, Cherokee, TJ Rubicon, JlU, and now a Tacoma (currently building). I have always admired Scouts look, tough built aesthetic and excited for what's to come! Any way, just wanted to finally say hello and looking forward in learning from everyone here. Have a good release day!

Hey all, registered a while back, finally posted up the “greetings” post here today along with a shiny new reservation on the Terra.
I’m intrigued and excited to see this all unfold!
I was impressed with the vibe of the reveal from both the CEO and design team lead.
I’m from rural NC, up near the mountains and frequently lead trail rides in Uwharrie (maybe Scout will venture up and host an event/ have an inaugural and repeated event there to show some off-road prowess??).
I own a ‘21 Bronco Badlands with a host of upgrades, have owned a handful of Jeeps in my day.
I’m a Plant Manager at a manufacturing facility full-time, a custom paint/restoration hobbyist in my free time.
Father to 5 amazing kids (now all young adults forging their own paths), have had the opportunity to take some of them to some pretty epic places prior to their leaving home.
I look forward to continued adventures that hopefully incorporate a Scout once the time comes.
Glad to be here, glad to meet you all and learn all I can in the process!

Greetings from Arizona. Have had a life long relationship with International Harvester trucks and Scouts. I've had the honor of being the caretaker of a number of low production number IHC trucks and Scouts over the years.

I just put in for a reservation on a Terra Harvester. Looking forward to seeing this modern interpretation come to fruition.

Just reserved a Traveler Harvester edition. I’ve owned a Scout since I was 16, 45 now, and have built a 72 from the ground up. I’m excited about the new Scout and will be looking to replace my Grand Cherokee with it in a couple years.
