  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Terra Harvester reserved day of announcement and then I also reserved a Traveler the following day. We have a JL Wrangler right now and a '24 Blazer EV lease that will be up in 2027. We also have a reservation on a Rivian R2 that we originally made the same day we leased the Blazer.

I reserved the Traveler. So excited about the build. My family was a big International fan. I remember growing up with Scout II and Trucks.

Terra Harvester. I've been spoiled with a ~600 mi range SUV (Touareg TDI). And hoping I've got a few more years of overlanding in me. Fingers crossed the product lives up to its promise (and legacy). 🍻

I reserved the Traveler but I didn't see the Traveler Harvester, what option is that? The ELectric & Gas?
The Harvester option is a Extended Range Electric Vehicle. Also known as a Series Hybrid, and a Range Extended Electric vehicle (all of those are terms you'll see thrown around, that mean the same thing).

Which means it has a smaller battery pack, and an onboard gas engine that acts as a generator to charge the battery.

In this case, the Harvester models are said to have 150 miles of EV only range, and "up to 500 miles of total range". But how it functions EXACTLY is a bit of an unknown right now. We don't know if at the end of the 500 miles of range you'll have to charge, AND refuel, or JUST refuel to continue driving on longer road trips.

That single subject of exactly how the Harvester works/is implemented, is likely one of the most anticipated bits of un-released information. So now we can only wait and see (and speculate wildly in the forums :D).

Considering changing my reservation from Harvester to all-electric. I don’t know that it’s going to be necessary to go for it, nor do I think that I want the albatross of maintaining a gas engine. I’d rather get away from it. 🤔
I have no plans to switch mine at the moment, but I'm open to it.

It will really depend on the implementation of the Harvester, the charging infrastructure, and what our other vehicle plans are at the time.

I'll consider switching from harvester to EV:
  • Charging infrastructure gets way better in the next two years.
  • A better trip vehicle comes out, and would kick the Traveler from the "might be the road trip vehicle" into the "probably mostly a within region vehicle".
    • A family style 3 row EREV/PHEV?
      • Hyundai Palisade/Ioniq 9?
      • Toyota Sienna Plug in/(or rumored Privia reboot?)
  • The specific implementation of the Harvester
    • Range, cost, is it gas and go vs stop/charge/fill, any factors that it changes (like, spare tire fitment), etc.

Hoping for lots of fun details later this year if we're lucky :D.

Rolling over 100k miles this week on an EV I drive all over the country. Only replaced wiper blades and a climate filter. The maintenance piece is the best part of having an EV, no way I would give that up for another hundred miles of range. Just make it charge fast and we’ll be fine.

Yes. You’ll be able to pick either vehicle in either configuration (EV or EREV) at time of order. No telling if either/any will have constraints or more order delay time for one type than the other but the answer is YES

Reserved Traveler Harvester. Range extender is a great option, in my view. Certainly when the charging infrastructure throughout the country is more robust, it'll be an easier decision for me to go full EV. For now, on longer road trips, I just prefer having the extended range and peace of mind that I don't have to grip over finding a station that's working.

Reserved a Terra after the announcement. Also considering R1T. Didn't know about this place until the Out of Spec Reviews video yesterday.
