  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Not looking forward to price, realistically it's going to be $80k unless they are going to take a huge loss or battery costs really really come down.
Cost is a big part of what made me reserve the EV and not the Harvester drivetrain.
Well, if that's the case, some of us would just take our $100 back, no biggies.
Did that with Cybertruck and Ioniq 5, nothing crazy. EV is still a toy for me, I got 2 2024 vehicles to drive around and beyond 2027.

I reserved the Traveler Harvester option mostly due to towing my camper or boat. I figure I will need the extended range with gas generator since towing cuts down your actual EV mileage. I am hopeful that the Harvester option will also provide power for other options/features by the time it rolls off the production line. I am super excited about the new Scouts!

I know Scout Motors would prefer the conversation to occur here, but the ScoutEVForum has a larger community base and is well ahead of compiling meaningful data available to future owners.

Thanks for the info. With so much things undecided, I'll try to downsizing on only the official forum for now. Just so I don't get too excited and disappointed more like what Tesla did to the CyberTruck.

Is the 150 mile estimate confirmed by someone from Scout? That is really low with the Harvester (which I reserved). It would be fine for commuting to work I guess, but the EV savings wouldn't really be there on trips. I am wondering if there will be a larger battery option to go along with the Harvester especially for people who are interested in towing.
It is confirmed as their target range based on pre-engineering. Assuming it could change once they start road testing but math and science are pretty predictable

As a huge off-roader I could not resist to reserve the Traveler with range extender.

Owned these off-roaders in the past:

1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara
2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

now owning a 2023 Tesla Model Y Performance for traveling easier since the Jeeps where really bad on gas. Did not like the 18mpg and decided to go with an EV before getting another EV car in a few years.

Since I work at Scout Motors, I absolutely love our design for the Traveler and could not resist now to reserve the EREV Traveler.

Now I am super excited to see what we will bring out in a few years with all the color and trim options.

I think what they said was the gas motor kicks in at 150mi, doesn't mean battery drain at 150mi.

I'm probably confused, but to get to the proposed 500 miles, would that not require a lot of fuel to keep charging the battery if the generator starts running at 150 miles? So for 350 miles, the engine would run, or would it stop again at some point? I guess it also depends what the fuel efficiency of the generator is.

I’ve going for the Terra Harvester. I feel it would be pretty practical for my use-case. I’m a contractor, but my daily is usually less than 100 miles in a day. Usually no more than 140. That said, I do tow a 16 foot utility trailer often enough that EV only seemed like a bad idea for me. I love the idea of the frunk still being available to hold some of my more common tools.

I’m just really hoping they set this RE up to be strong enough to keep going on gas and not end up being a limp mode like the BMW i3 is. Being able to run on electric only on a normal day-to-day and dipping into gas with extended towing or range uses is the bees knees for me.

No. From the support page:

"Yes, you can change your vehicle selection on your reservation anytime by signing into your account. Making this change will not impact your place in the queue, but it may impact your delivery timing depending on the options you select."
Thank you. I ended up canceling one of the orders. So for now, it’s just the Traveler Harvester reservation for me. But I am open to the pure EV if there is an improvement in estimated range or bigger battery option.

Terra + Harvester!

This is the truck I’ve been waiting for! I love all the benefits of an electric vehicle, with the added bonus of a generator. Gas isn’t going away anytime soon, and having the flexibility of being able to either charge or run on gas is perfect for my expected use. Most of the time I’m just running around town so no need for gas. However, when I need to take a trip, I’m not going to be worried about not finding a charger where ever I may roam.

Also, this would have been handy a year ago when I was stuck without power for a week at my house. I have been looking at the Dodge Ramcharger, but I’ve never been a fan of Ram’s design; interior or exterior. I had hoped GM would be smart and do something like this, but was extremely disappointed with their all electric Avalanche offering. I have owned 3 Silverados, putting a combined 500k across all 3, and their new electric is NOT a Silverado.

Anyway, I’m super excited about the new Terra and can’t wait to get mine!

I’m worried about it too. Hoping battery costs do come down by then.
The solid state battery is expected to be out in about 4 years, so if Scout doesn't adopt it, the lithium battery price should drop significantly. Otherwise, this vehicle will be worthless before its even delivered.
