We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

Assuming head up display I will rarely use the gauge as head up is SO convenient
This is an interesting comment because I think it highlights the fact the instrument cluster design is challenged by it’s position below the line of sight.

All this means is that it has to be designed better. It would be wrong to say the instrument cluster design doesn’t matter because some people will get the heads up display option.

i was thinking the needle would change to a different color to indicate speed set for cruise control / adaptive cruise control
I think the needle changing color would be bad for at a glance communication. It always needs to catch the eye in the same way and with the highest possible contrast.

The bar of the gauge should change color as the needle passes through and have color changes for the cruise control. Apple demonstrated color changes of a gauge dial for cruise control in their wwdc presentation of the new CarPlay design system.
 
I'm assuming the max speed shown as an indicator at 65 changes depending on the speed for that highway.
This is also a feature of the new CarPlay design system.

I really hope they include the option of CarPlay designed instrument clusters because they allow Scout to build feature rich gauges easily with pre-build building blocks. It’s kind of like Lego for gauge cluster design only that the manufacturer can work with Apple to make new bricks as needed.
 
Just thought I would add that my BMW iX displays kW per hour when parked or stationary and then switches to miles per kWh when moving. I think that’s inline with what you’re saying.

I just think there should be a geek out option.
It should provide battery voltage, charge in coulombs, battery temperature, Available battery energy in kWh or MJ. Current in or out (in amps) current used or regenerated by each motor (amps or power in watts) harvester fuel in gallons, harvester current generated in amps or power in watts, estimated range in miles etc

There could be a line of small horizontally split round gauges, each with 2 needles. I wish I could draw what I have in mind.
 
Sounds good but guessing NHTSA isn’t gonna complete flex or some idiot would lose speedometer. I think regulations will require certain portions always remain but maybe some small movements will be permitted.
No no, I’m not asking for complete customization as that would be ridiculous and would never happen.

Other manufacturers have already been doing this for quite some time now. Some vehicles allow you to move certain elements around on the screen to place them where you want them for easier reference or replace rarely used items with ones you frequently use. That’s what I’m referring to.

Given that it appears to be entirely digital (no mechanical components), multiple options should not be an issue. I personally generally prefer to keep a fairly large mph number visible most of the time, but also like to be able to cycle through various monitoring options (a lot of data is nice to have occasionally, but not necessary all the time).

I like to be able to check tire pressure, aux battery voltage and charge rate, compass, incline and roll (mostly off road info), next navigation, current speed limit, tow controller settings, cameras (even while driving - like to occasionally glance back at my trailer and bed cameras, even a back seat camera is nice occasionally - how are the kids/dogs doing), ect. Some of that will not be necessary on the Scout, others will be handled better on the console rather than the dash display - but even then having highlights on the dash can be nice.

I completely agree here. I am also very often checking tire pressure, all temperatures, voltage, compass, pitch & roll, cameras, etc. etc. especially while towing or off road so I too enjoy easily being able to flip through everything even if all of it isn’t on the main view.

Drive indicator/gear is only important at no/low speeds. Over 15mph and no one is really switching. Perhaps at speed while in 'regular' drive modes, it can become smaller & less prominent so that other, more important data can gain real estate?

What does everyone think about the instrument cluster shown in the reveal vehicles?

What do you like about it? What don’t you like about it? What’s missing? How could it be improved?

its software, so why not a variety of options. I kinda like the two round with a "tach/regen" on one side and a speedo on the other. Would like to see other pics where battery, fuel, battery range, fuel range, combined, etc are displayed. On the center console, maybe display the amount of power that is consumed by accessories and heating and air. Maybe if you want to get technical, put weight sensors in to calculate loss due to passengers and cargo.
 
Interesting observation!
I like the sample dash. For everyday travel, it's very sleek.

Is it a screen that you have complete control over? If so, I would really love to be able to select an "off-road trail" dash when needed. On this would be a speedo that tops out at 50 or 60 mph, a compass, inclinometer, rollover tilt, altimeter, and 360 camera. A graphic of the four wheels and differentials which shows differentials locked, tires that turn yellow when slippage is detected, motor temperatures, tire pressures and sway bar disconnected. Vehicle approaching from the rear warning light could be handy for those side-by-sides that fly up quickly.
