Blind Spot Turn Signal Camera Displayed in Instrument Cluster

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Hello,

I am so excited for the NEW Scout Traveler (w/ the Harvester for my preference). I would like to make one suggestion which I am sure can be implemented via software at initial launch or future update. I think it would be helpful if Scout vehicles had Blind Spot Turn Signal Cameras that displayed in the instrument cluster whenever you turned on your turn signals like they have in the Genesis, Hyundai and Kia vehicles. I believe Rivians now have that feature via their most recent software update. That would be awesome. I have a Genesis GV70 Sport that has that feature and it has come in handy.

Wife’s whip is a 24 GV80 & that is a nifty feature, especially in heavy traffic zipping down the freeway

Just don’t copy the seats, those are soooooo uncomfortable on long trips

Yes, this would be great, also would be nice to be able to bring the cameras up while driving as well. Can be useful off-road as well as to see around you without needing the turn signal on in certain situations.
I agree. Can be very useful while driving, especially off road.

I’m not sure I follow why you’d want to have your turn signal off. The point of turn signals is to let the cars behind you know what you’re planning to do. What scenarios are there where you’d need the element of surprise?

I learned back in high school from Car Talk on NPR how to adjust my sideview mirrors so as to never have a blind spot, so I’m not clear on why using your sideview mirrors don’t cut it other than that I haven’t had the experience of being able to see other angles via camera while I’m driving. Are the Terra and Traveler going to be so massive and have so many blind spots that you can’t fix your mirrors to see oncoming traffic, or is there something flying over my head?

I can see how it’s helpful to have your eyes darting to one less place while you drive: is that what we’re talking about is the advantage of cameras here? My apologies if this is a real Captain Obvious thing: just want to make sure grilled swiss cheese brain gets this. 😅👍

For me there are two specific times I tend to use this in my Tesla. One is a weird merge where the lane I’m in stays the same and another lane merges from the left into it from a blind bend and difficult to see clearly in the mirrors so no need for my to signal but nice to have advanced notice of other cars that may be coming without having to look over my shoulder.
There’s another turn I do regularly that is a left turn on a big curve where it is very hard to see what is coming from the right. I’m turned so far that I have my left signal on but I can see what is coming from my right camera.

I was 36 or 37 when I bought my one and only BMW. Did the performance delivery and as fun as it was, leaving having finally learned how to properly set all my mirrors for no blind spots (and a little neck turning left). It was legitimately life changing. Will never forget it and taught my daughter at age 16 so she’d learn 20 years sooner than I managed too

YES!!! I always set my mirrors this way and have tried to tell other people how to do this and they don’t believe me or think I’m full of shit.

For anyone curious:

Its crazy to me that I have never heard of this method. For those of you who have not also, take a minute to read that link and give it a try!

After setting it up this way on my truck it got me thinking .....how can Scout do it better 🤔

When a driver sets up his/her programed setting (seat position, etc.) use the main screen to have something simular to Scoutsies link pop up and walk the driver through it. This will help explain why to all the people like me that didn't even know of this. I think it still needs to be an option that the driver can turn off if they don't like it.

Another idea would be that the mirrors go back to the "regular positions" when the vehicle is put in reverse, making it easier to see when backing up.
