  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Traveler with Harvester for us. Already have two trucks, only have one SUV though. :ROFLMAO:

I might even have this one on the road by then.

I am curious to see how many users keep the Harvester option in 2027/2028. When costs are released and with continued (slowly) improving infrastructure for charging, I am not sure it will be as popular an option as these reservations suggest.
As a current EV owner, I understand the gas extender for overlanders / off-roaders who are going to be carrying spare gas cans - it's a great way to make the Scout a "true" off-roader, and it differentiates the vehicle from anything else offered today. But 300+ miles of all-electric range and improving infrastructure will be enough for the vast majority of everyday use and road trips, and I am not sure how many people will really justify the extra cost/complexity/maintenance that comes with a gas engine stored inside the vehicle when it comes time to actually place the order. No judgement either way, just curious to see how it shakes out!

Traveler EV. Reservation placed before the reveal was even finished.

Loved the satin blue and wheels on the Terra. Hope they find their way to the Traveler.

Looks like Ford is not getting my money and I will be hanging onto the Atlas for a few more years.

I reserved the Terra EV, can always move to the extender once the customization starts. Wife already has a model 3 and this will be replacing a Subaru Crosstrek.

Traveler with Extender here. As we get closer it will really depend on the size, I'd need it to be an upgrade in size from my current truck for kids down the road, based off the width and length of the specs, it should have more backseat space and decent trunk space. The wife, dog and two kids is the goal!

Yes. We went round and round on this in the 09/10 forums regarding the Leaf vs Volt (EV vs hybrid).

IMHO the Harvester is a very nice option if you do a lot of highway miles, towing or both. Speed and or load has a big impact on battery consumption.

But

Where speeds are typically much slower, such as off road/crawling, range goes up. WAY UP. If an EV gets an EPA label of 300 miles, it’s easily 400+ below 30mph off road.

Also

Is the generator removable or could be added when needed? These are concepts but the animation made the Harvester unit look pretty modular. Order versions will be interesting.

I'm pretty curious about this as well. But living in Colorado, where so many small mountain towns have limited charging infrastructure (and are well over 100 miles from Denver just in one direction), I think the small gas tank will just be an insurance policy. Then again, happy to have my mind changed in 2027 when orders are actually placed!

Terra with gas extender, I was just considering selling my Colorado ZR2 but I'll keep it for a couple more years for the Scout. Best looking EV truck I have seen, and the gas generator extender is icing on the cake.

Traveler with extended range. The infrastructure is definitely a very distant dream in most of the country. I see us using ours more for trips of longer than 300 miles. There is no way I am depending on something other than a gas station to be available. Seen too many chargers saying they are available, only to have nothing working when you get to them.

Terra with gas extender! I've been shopping for something new since parting with my 4xe Rubicon. We have a Rivian and love it, but the optional fuel extender is a perfect solution for my fishing addiction and long treks. I'll likely buy something used and cheap to use for the next couple of years.

Terra with extender. Cant wait for this. So happy I wont have to deal with the dealer. I want to do truck things with this. Tow a dump trailer, put chainsaws in the back. Love the mechanical aspects if this thing. Proper door handles BENCH SEAT, solid axles and BUTTONS touchscreens suck. I love the leather and cloth seats. Perfect. Now dont make us wait for stupid expensive special launch editions. Start getting these things on the road.

I reserved the Traveler SUV and I'm thrilled with the timing of both the announcement and the release schedule. I currently have a 2024 VW Atlas Peak Edition that has been a lot of fun to use in the Rocky Mountains this summer, but as I push the AWD system I recognize that if I want to do more, I'm going to need 4WD with locking diffs. Having the extra ground clearance will be great too. Because these are scheduled to ship until 2027 makes it easy for me to trade in my vehicle for the upgrade. Just perfect timing all around. The vehicle I was considering for my next purchase was the Toyota Land Cruiser, and I feel this car and its specs line up nicely. It's my first-ever pre-order for a vehicle so I'm pretty excited about it.

I find myself in some pretty far off places in the mountains where there are no EV charging stations. I agree that most people won't need the extender but as a person who likes to get lost, having the peace of mind will be worth the cost.
