What did you reserve?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Did anyone catch how the range extender will work? I just caught the end of it.. no motor.. I hope .. no maintenance like my Tesla!
Generator under the rear floor. If I was a guessing man, it is a standalone engine using the rear drive units inverter to step up the voltage to 800V to charge the battery. Probably similar for the NACS charging as that also needs to be stepped up. (Tesla chargers only pumping out 480V)

How do we see the load outs available to customize with? Do we have to go through the reservation to do that or is it on the site somewhere?

EV Traveler.

There are a lot of details to flesh out. No clue if they will be fleshed out completely till vehicles start rolling of the line. They did not mention driving assist features, they did not mention if a hard top will be an option (I live in a hot climate - I have NO desire for a rag top, no desire to deal with any additional heat or road noise that ultimately will come with it), they did not mention tongue weight limitations (without load balancing hitches). They did not mention camping/dog mode - which currently is not on a VW product. They did not show the rear seat (but have to expect it will be fold down). They did not mention how much EV range will be lost with the range extender - or exactly how the range extender will work (when does it need to come on to function correctly - can it maintain highway speed off of gas, or will the batteries continue to slowly discharge).

The range extender is a great idea in theory - but holding my breath if it will be great in practice. It would be great if it could effectively run on gas only IF EV charging was not available. But with questions unanswered - it will add complexity and maintenance to the vehicle, which could hamper the simplicity factor.

I can not say I like the price. It was not 100% unexpected. Would have felt a starting price of 50k would have keep the selling price (with options) at a more palatable level. Let's face it, a Wrangler might start at 35k (guess), but my Rubicon sure the hell did not.

Nothing yet, $100 reservation just gets you a spot in line. I’m betting we will see the different options/trim levels in the next few months to keep activity & interest alive along with colors and accessories slowly being published.
There are a lot of great accessory manufacturers out there so hopefully Scout is partnering with a few instead of re-inventing the wheel. Interior looks super clean and I like what looks like upfitter switches by the roof controls. Great for accessory lights etc. Living in South Texas what looked like heated and cooled seats is a major win!

Traveler, they hit all the lines and the option with the generator extender checked the last box for me. It looks great, will be a great look with 35's to nail the stance.
Omg those 35s…..I’m afraid certain members of my family will not be able to climb in or out, so hopefully there’s a good side step!!

Terra with Gas.

I'm currently in a Bronco that I love very much, but I really miss having a truck bed. I figure I can switch my reservation to the Traveler if I change my mind at some point. (they currently allow switching if you "Edit" your order).

Damn good looking vehicles, though. Looking forward to seeing them develop over the next few years. Cheers!🍻

Just reserved the Traveler with the generator! I’m so hyped that it’s midsized and has physical switches! Would’ve been a deal breaker if it’s another tablet only BS.
I think it looks fantastic, but it certainly isn’t midsized. It’s the same length as a 2024 Tahoe and almost a foot wider according to the dimensions they provided.

Reserved a Traveler with range extender as well.

I got the impression it would be like my previous Gen 1 Volt, which is good and bad. Has all the advantages of a Gas car but also all the disadvantages. I selected the extender more for resale as I can see all these EV naysayers only being comfortable getting in one that offers a gas alternative. But as a current full EV owner (now a Mach E), I dont think its really a necessity for me.
I just rewatched the launch video. I was too excited during it and missed some things. They said that the gas generator will power the battery, and the battery will power the vehicle. So cool. So different than the hybrid I have today. Do you have any trouble finding charging stations? I live in SE PA (between NY and Philly) - there are not a lot of them around here. I took a trip to Boston this summer and there were chargers everywhere - but not always the one that fit my hybrid. Hoping this continues to grow and change - if there’s a reliable network by the time I order, I may just go full EV.

It’s actually closer in size to a Tahoe but the way the proportions are designed it doesn’t feel nearly that big. It was riding on 35’s and the top of Frunk was upper chest level and I’m just shy of 5’-11” so the height of vehicle also helps offset the length visually

I immediately went with the Terra Truck Electric + Gas.

Bench seating, 80% user serviceable parts, gas extender, back window rolls down, body on frame...

... this was the electric truck I have been dreaming of. One that I can turn into a solid overland 4x4 to continue exploring all of North America in.

80% user serviceable parts!!! Those who know, when it comes to exploring out in the middle of nowhere, being able to fix/repair your truck is a matter of leaving your truck behind or getting unstuck. That beyond sold me already.

BENCH SEATS!!! I had an 86 Chevy Celerity and an 05 Dodge Dakota with bench seats. And growing up with your dog sitting next to you while driving... I honestly truly miss that. But most modern trucks lost that. My doggo is getting up in age, and I would love to travel with her with bench seats.

Everyone here who reserved know already what Scout has already shown, and I don't mean to repeat what was already talked about. But I can't really hide my excitement with this truck. Give me a dark blue paint job, and this will be the truck that will last me a lifetime.

Cheers,
The Beard

I didn't preorder; between us just having bought a house & a few other things, a $60k+ vehicle just isn't going to be in the cards in the near future.

That said, I'm still kicking around preordering a Traveler; with the Cabana top & a front bench I could almost trick myself into feeling like it's a two-door!
