Future Model Expansion Might Include a 2-Door Short Wheelbase Model

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

From The Autopian (https://www.theautopian.com/scout-might-be-planning-a-2-door-convertible-4x4-and-also-a-3-row/):
"Scout purists, I have interesting news: I have it on good authority that Scout — a subsidiary of VW and future purveyor of the glorious Traveler and Terramight build a two-door convertible 4×4 SUV variant of the Traveler/Terra. "

"If that two-door comes with the range-extender option, I’d be tempted to choose it over the Traveler I just preordered. Because a two-door Extended-Range EV with a tailgate, a rear spare tire carrier, a solid axle, and a bench seat is the Grail of Grails."

It’d be super popular among a smaller group of enthusiasts

Whether that’s enough to sustain development and production and profit in the eyes of the decision makers…….

I like the idea of a two-door. It would be lighter, turn sharper, be more nimble and would be easier to tow. However, if the backseat becomes cramped and uncomfortable for adults, it would lose it's charm. I'm assuming it would have a smaller battery, but depending on the output of the Traveler, maybe it would still have great range?

A removable top is always fun. Maybe two-piece that installs onto a 2 1/2" built-in roll bar? When both pieces of the top are installed, the roll bar simply looks like a door post and the roof line nearly smooth. With the piece over the front seats and the larger back piece removed, it looks like it has a cool, custom roll bar (which it does). Two pieces would also make it easier to take off and store. Maybe even an optional soft top for the back section and a place to store the front section?

Anyway, just dreaming here.

Or more accurately, not very popular at all.

4 doors are about 90% of Wranglers, leaving the 2 doors at only about 10%, so they are probably only selling about 16K - 2 door Wranglers for the vehicle that defines the space. IMO the business case for this is likely quite poor, but Jeep simply couldn't abandon the 2 door, even if relatively few people buy it because the Jeep faithful would descend on them with tar and pitchforks.

Scout might build something like that, eventually, if the Terra and Traveler are wildly successful and profitable.

So, don't hold your breath, that would likely be in the year 2030 at best.

Analyzing the picture above. That's an extreme off roader with no front overhang, and about the length of 4 door Wrangler. It sits much taller than the regular Traveler. Higher ground clearance, bigger wheels, higher hood than the already high one on the other Scouts. If rear overhangs are super short as well, WB may even be the same as the Traveler. Wrangler 4 door length combined with larger in every other dimension, so still not small. It could still have 4 doors given the length.

I think a 2 door that is the same in front of the back of the doors but shorter wheelbase and removable top. I've heard the Bronco 2 doors are around 25% of their sales.
