Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Who watched the live Scout Reveal? What are your thoughts on the new Scout Traveler and Scout Terra?
The sheet metal is perfect and the color on the Traveler was my ideal color! The front/rear masks weren't to my liking, but I suspect you'll have optional, interchangeable masks, at least for the front. Actually, I'm fine with the masks, just not the lighting portions. On the rear, I'd really like to see amber for turn signals, and not just red. I don't like the tailgate on the back at all. I'm short with T-Rex arms and those tailgates sticking out make it hard for me to load the trunk. Beyond that, I'm loving the exterior.

The interior was way too luxury for my tastes. I want functional, durable, washable and inexpensive with creative use of space to store crap. The physical controls for things are incredible though, and having had vehicles with the switches across the middle, I know the design works well. The bench seat option is AWESOME.

The mechanical bits are solid. SLA independent up front with a live axle in the rear works well. In my current Toyota with the same setup, it can get tippy in serious off-camber rock climbing, but the Scouts' low battery and center of gravity would alleviate that. Body on frame is also a big winner, along with a pretty traditional suspension setup, though I'm hoping the air portion is optional. That's just one more thing to break off-road.

After being here for two years waiting for this reveal, the range extender was almost enough to tip me over the edge, but I DID NOT reserve one. My frugal nature won't let me buy an EV at this point due to poor resale values mostly across the board, and there are too many parts that I can't service myself. I guess I'm just getting old...

Really digging some of the less EV technical design features like the bench seating w/o a massive console and the front trunk drop tailgate on the Traveler

I watched the reveal and my first impression was that I didn't really like it (Traveler). I think the headlights are very off-putting, like beady little eyes. Why can't it have round headlights - like a Scout? The Cabana top is OK but would definitely prefer a removeable roof. More open = Better. I think the "belt" around the spare tire looks weird - is that necessary to hold it? I also hate the color which affected my initial impression.
I definitely liked it more once I ignored the color and saw the interior. The interior is gorgeous. Soooo glad it is light and not a black hole. Love that the spare swings out (just not the design) with a tailgate, the frunk and especially the EREV option. I like the overall exterior design aside from the headlights. Tailights aren't my favorite but better than the headlights.
It is definitely more a Land Rover(luxury off-road) vibe than Bronco or Wrangler so I get the no removeable roof decision. I see it as an American budget Land Rover-not a bad thing.
I put a reservation on a Traveler Harvester.
I posted this separately but are the dimensions on the website correct? Is it really this humongous? The length and width are larger than an EV Hummer. (Edit: Jamie confirmed in another post that the width is wrong. Actual width is 79.9" and the length includes the spare tire)

I really spent time studying the press pictures and pictures from friends that attended the event before making my post. Perhaps the design team will consider my suggestions.

Overall, well done Scout Motors team! Speaking as a longtime multiple Scout owner (12), here are a few thoughts on possible refinements.

1. Front-End Design: I'd love to see some adjustments here, especially by moving the turn signals from the bumper to the lower valence. This would honor the original design of the Scout 80/800 and Scout II and would allow room for aftermarket bumpers. With this change, buyers could more easily add brush guards, winches, or rugged bumpers.

2. Grille Updates: It would be fantastic if they changed the grille design each year for the first five model years, just like the Scout II. Round headlights with DRLs positioned at 1:30, 4:30, 7:30, and 10:30 (like Porsche) would create a modern yet nostalgic look. A nod to the original Scout II grille from '71/'72 could also be achieved by implementing a similar three horizontal slotted pattern or even an illusion of it, considering the frunk design. Subsequent years could incorporate vertical grille openings or other Scout-era-inspired details such as headlight bezels, all within the same dimensions to keep tooling costs low.

3. Body Design: I love the "scallop" on the Terra bed, reminiscent of the 80/800. It would be great to see the new Traveler/Terra reflect the hood style lines of a classic Scout II to deepen the heritage connection.

4. Color Options: I think they nailed the copper color choice for the press car! It would be nice to see a full contrasting roof color as an option (most likely white). This subtle cue could further accentuate the homage to classic Scout aesthetics. However, if the roof cap contrast is the only offering, then please have white or another light color as an option.

On the interior: Spot on! I’m thrilled to see physical buttons—thank you for listening! The dials even remind me of vintage IH radio dials. The cabana top is interesting, and I'd likely go for that option myself. Just make sure there’s no unpleasant wind buffering, like I’ve experienced with panoramic roofs in other vehicles. Bench seat! Not sure it’s for me, but way to go on offering!

As for the gas/electric choice, that’s definitely the right call. While I'm still weighing the benefits of a generator versus a full ICE-electric setup, I appreciate having the option of gas power for backup and extended range.

I've got my reservations in and can't wait to see more details and take delivery of my new Scouts.

It would be nice if the rearmost side windows vented open/popped out at the rear. My Opel GT did this and really eliminates buffeting because the air has a place to escape. Like these on this VW:

Bravo, Bravo, Bravo to the Scout Motors team. Absolutely nailed something very appealing to many of us longtime fans, and I think the "neutral" buyer who doesn't know anything about the history. You really struck a balance here!

Love the range expectations, the interior (including that great center console with cooler/etc), love that we can hang out in the frunk or the tailgate once we're out in the world (easy to sit on both).

Very creative idea with the cabana top. I love it, but am concerned about leaks. Possibly consider a sealed glass/metal/fiberglass lid that can be put in that space seasonally that makes it super, super weathertight. Ideally something that can be swapped in a few minutes so that I can run the cabana in the summer and then when we get into months of drizzle and rain here in Seattle, I can pop on a hard cover. This will be important for those Scouts that park outside all year too. Possibly offer it in tinted glass and opaque materials, depending on what people want with very good gasketing.

I didn't see if the Traveler had AC outlets. I saw them in the Terra and would encourage you to do at least 120V in the frunk, cab and rear, but consider a single 240V outlet for this car as well.

visually, I think you guys did a great job on the exterior. I would say that the skidplate seems like "too much" on the front, but if that were replaced by a winch option or something, it could be fine. LOVED the mounting points on the hood for carrying boards/etc on the roof! the 35" tires are just right, it will be very capable. Work with the suppliers to also offer a narrower 35" tire option. While many will love the wide tires, in our part of the country, a 10" x 35 high tire would perform great, with higher efficiency, lower noise and better traction in ice and snow. I expect most will want 35x12.5 that you showed, but just consider an option to get skinny, yet still tall tires when we order.

If it's not too late, it would be interesting to have the ability to fold up the front seats so that 1-2 people could sleep in the back. In true scouting fashion, you sometimes find yourself sleeping in the back, sometimes last minute, due to changes in plans, weather, etc. I don't know exactly how long it is inside from inside of the tailgate to the back of the front seats, but if it's a sconch over 6', it would work.

One other thought: I love the caribeener compatible attach points on the hood, but I would change the ones on the bumper to rounded bar instead of a square profile. Someone is going to hook a chain there to help pull a friend and it will mar those up.

Bravo, Bravo, Bravo!

Gotta be with mirrors extended. But still, the mirrors don't look that huge in photos, so even subtracted out I think these are just wiiiide trucks.

I'm a bit disappointed. Vehicle looks great. I knew 2 door wasn't happening, but I was hoping a 4 door wouldn't big this big. Mirrors on the doors are also going to make it difficult to take the doors off. Just seems more like a rivian than a scout/bronco/wrangler.

Just reserved the EV Scout SUV. Might change to the range extended version if it doesn't add too much complexity, weight, and take up too much space. Hoping they offer a top with just a glass sunroof with integrated shade. Also, please tell me you are going to include satellite radio options. I travel to out of the way places with no cell coverage so having satellite radio is something I cannot live without.

I really like the no chrome, like the wheels arches (just like my Scout 80), like the front trunk, like the interior, like the side marker lights, like the hood tie-downs, like the range & it can (might) fit 35s (y)

They look absolutely epic! The Traveler (EV) was exactly what I was hoping to see. Reservation placed the moment they opened.

Honestly, you had me at;
Pure EV
35’s (+?)
Body on Frame
Solid Rear Axle
Front and Rear Lockers
Swaybar Disconnects
7000lb Towing

I really loved the color and wheels on the Terra so hopefully they find their way to the Traveler. Oh and of course, a much darker interior option.

Just reserved a Traveler with the gas extender. I was definitely grumpy at first with no removable top, but the body on frame design with a rear solid axle really opened my eyes. Incredible job!!! This will go great next to my 78 Scout II
If you are willing to gamble the cabana top it is awesome. I have a garage so I’m gonna take a chance

Would love to know the bed width between the wheel wells for the Scout Terra. It is the truck I want (with the range extender) in basically every imaginable way, except I can't tell for sure if it can fit plywood (4 ft wide) between the wheel wells in the bed. I assume so given the full sized bed claims, but the only thing I can find is the 5.5 ft length measurement.

Would also love to know, will there be any sort of tie in/clamp points on the tops off the bed walls for attachments like bike racks, elevated racks, etc? I would love to add a truck camper over the bed (like a wedge style) and having some attachment points on the top of the bed wall for the camper to latch to. Something similar to the mount points on the R1T would be great in this way.

And I can't say this enough, I absolutely LOVE the design of the truck from the exterior to the interior with real buttons. I can't wait to see it in person.
Stay tuned for more details on both the Terra and Traveller, we've got a lot to unpack and finalize before the vehicles are in our customer's hands, but rest assured: we built a truck to do truck things. Safe to say you'll find everything you're looking for in the back of the new Scout Terra.

Great job! Loved the classic design call backs, range extender generator, projected capabilities. Reserved my traveler! I live <2 miles from the Blythewood, SC plant. How early can I camp out at the end of the assembly line? 😬. Factory delivery option???
That is the true Scout spirit, camped out waiting for your new Scout Traveler to roll off the production line:giggle:(y)
