New Scout Trucks To Be Revealed October 24, 2024

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Jamie mentioned above that some items were softened and removed, not sure what that implies but we'll know soon enough!

The only photo we've seen so far (copied below for reference) suggests an approach angle similar to a minivan. The front bumper looks to be about 6'' off the ground. I'm not clowning or trolling, just wondering if maybe I've overlooked something in the photo below.

To me it looks like it'd be pretty similar to the Bronco's? Bumper comes down to the midpoint or slightly below the midpoint of the tire is what I am getting from that photo. Could also just be the terrain around it and also it being a silhouette doesn't help determine anything from it really. Good thing is we only have 44 hours left till we know its approach angle.

I think that was in relation to how its "similar" looking to an R2? But yeah does beg us to question what it would have looked like without being smoothed. I feel like smoothed is the opposite of boxy.

I saw a disproportionate numbers of SUV's at work today. With the exception of an older Suburban - all were newer models and honestly I could not tell brand from brand without looking at the names on them (abet I could not see the grills, only the sides and tails). They all looked the same, and honestly from the rear all were barely distinguishable from the single mini-van in the parking lot (oh, it might have had 1-2" less ground clearance). They all had molded in plastic bumpers. They all wore boring as hell - but I have no doubt their owners were proud of them - some even had vanity plates. Funny, but from the rear.

Started this post saying I don't even know what a "full sized" SUV or Truck is anymore. Full size for an SUV used to mean it had room for a 3rd row of seats - not that the majority I saw today probably only had 2 rows and a junk box behind the 2nd. Full sized truck used to be a 1/2 ton (or greater) - but now most of those have beds that would be better suited on a compact truck. In all fairness, the 3 of the 4 trucks at work were full sized, but I don't know whose they were - but they were not light trucks, all but one were at least 3/4 ton work trucks - I am not sure if all 3 had flatbeds on them. Then there was the dainty truck on the end with the sissy bars to climb in with (not that it was tall enough to need them).

Abet I am jaded - my LJ has a 4" lift and tires 5" larger than stock - and I don't need a ladder to climb in with. Abet, in fairness - the stock tires were 28", so 5" larger only puts it up to the current stock tires on a Rubicon (but it was the largest I could put on with a 4" lift and the largest I could deal with without changing the front axle to get a correct gear ratio installed. Still, the step up into my LJ is probably 2" higher than our Rubicon with 35" tires. And in all honesty, I do use the retractable step on my F250 - don't need it, but I like the looks of the retractable a ton better than the ugly bolt ons. Had Factory nerfs on my F150 - which my wife managed to break off, so probably another reason I don't really like them.

I’ve shown the silhouette to several people who recall the original and so far it’s not looking good for this design. I’m not shocked; the silhouette looks like every other car on the road: a minivan that doesn’t want you to know it’s a minivan. It certainly doesn’t look like a Scout so far. If the silhouette is not representative of what we’ll see on Thursday, why post it?

42 hours to go and you guys are all the sudden shitting all over it. What happened this week?
It’s a silhouette that’s been softened and tweaked per Jamie and blacked out to the same color as the ground it sits on so nobody really knows.
Take a deep breath, find a distraction for the next day and a half and wait to see.
I think we are all going to be surprised at how it looks-good or bad. Many of us have been on the forum almost two years. Heaven forbid it sucks, there are still plenty of ICEs and hybrids to choose from that don’t look like all the others.
If you are already disappointed before seeing it then you’ll likely still be disappointed after and this is just an excuse to not take a chance.
42 hours to go. We can all make it until then.

At this point I'm hoping that there are no leaks, let's all see it for the first time through Scout Motors.

Stepping out of the norm here a little (although agree with @R1TVT ), I posted a long time ago about a navy blue with orange accent that I liked to see....and was intrigued when I saw the Scout Motors colors be just that. So I'm thinking Navy, w/orange on the truck and a reto look redish/orange with white top on the SUV.

I do not know where you see a Minivan approach angle here. For me it looks like ~35 approach angle.

Bit difficult to tell, since the ground seems to be not level. The yellow arrow is my presumption of the tire contour, I think the red portion is jut a rock in the background.

Since Magna is doing the fundamental engineering on this vehicle I suspect that this:

will be the drive train, or a variation of it.

Since the vehicle is coming out in 2026, I would hope for an 800V architecture.

Battery size is difficult, something like the Silverado's 200 kWh battery will likely price it to high, not to mention the absurd weight, 100 kWh is likely to little range, so... 150ish?

The VW group needs to focus on getting the Porsche Taycan's charging performance (ability to take on ~75 kWh in ~15 minutes) into lower priced vehicles, so that eventually an ID3 - Just call it a Golf please - has it as well. The Scouts need to have a good charging curve, peak charging is frankly irrelevant.

Yeah, plus considering everywhere they advertise it as having the possibility of competing with off-roaders I don' think they'd go with a minivan approach angle. https://scoutmotors.community.forum/threads/a-new-generation-of-scout.861/post-8647
Also how may Minivans are even on the market now adays? 2 or 3? Its not like Scout would think about going with a Minivan xD.

Just about every vehicle on the road today is a minivan. They call them SUVs now.

And I don't think we should stifle honest, unemotional discussion about it. I'm not dunking on the silhouette just to dunk on it; I have an opinion about what I'm seeing with my eyeballs. That's all.

I mean yeah SUV's arn't what they used to be but I don't think they should be considered minivans. Honda, Toyota, and VW have actual real Minivans
