SCOUT TRAVELER FAQ

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Im guessing the amount of Trims will be a single digit number like ex. 3-5 since these are the first releases from Scout Motors and the more trim types the more tooling.
I’d guess early release-i.e.-first 6 months will be 3 at best. Even Ford pulled back quickly on their options for the Bronco. To have a launch package to get production ramped up and flowing will likely mean very narrow options choices at the very beginning. Knowing SM will want best foot forward there will likely be a premium interior, a mid and MAYBE a stripped down but that will likely be a lower take rate so may be a vinyl interior that dressed up but easy to clean as a compromise to start off production

I think fords options are overwhelming, they have so many. Probably a reason most broncos are sitting on the lots and are priced so high.

That and the early greed of dealers. I wish I wouldn’t have had so many issues with ours because it was a fun vehicle. Sometimes I think about stopping to negotiate the shit out of the dealers since the demand is no longer there and they still hold the prices high. Serves them right 🤣

Ok, I’m an idjit

Cabana operable roof, what is this in English please I saw some kind of top folding open in a couple videos but nothing that really explained it. Not to thrilled with some kind of fabric on the outside that folds back, lots of potential problems with that

Fixed huge pano glass roof, I take it it’s got some kind of sub shade inside the scout?
At the event we were told:
Full metal roof
Fixed huge pano glass roof
Cabana operable roof.
Could it change??? I guess maybe
No specifics on battery packs yet. Only that the approximate range on the BEV model is 350.
What’s the configuration the 350 mile estimate based on? Are the range estimates consistent for type of roof and wheel packages? Will the cabana roof have reduced range? 35 vs 33 in tires?

Sounds like 350 is the max range. That would likely be with smaller tires with a less aggressive tread. I don't see why a Cabana roof would make a difference unless you drove with it open all the time. A roof rack would also affect range. So might a external tire carrier, but we won't know until they release the options and EPA figures.

As low a profile as the cabana top is, being mounted on top of a brick on wheels should have virtually no impact on range

Not remotely the same thing. The Cabana Top is more like the Wrangler Sky One touch, which is a more desirable top.

For myself though, I want the minimum of future hassle so I want something fixed. Either a completely normal metal roof, or a fixed glass panorama roof (with some kind of internal shade. These will never leak or add wind noise.
I have a full pano glass roof…it came from factory with tint. Even in Houston never an issue. I’d even bought the internal shade and didn’t use it even once.

My dad would almost bring dealers to tears. I learned to pack a lunch and bring a book. The first two dealers were his exploratory discussions. The last one was his serious one. He could talk ALL DAY. When they started in on rust protection he’d start in on them removing the premium wheels. When they’d start the “sign here so I can talk to my manager” to mentally make you feel committed he’d take their paper, write down his ambitious financial offer and ask the sales guy to sign it as a commitment he was going to take it to the manager, lol. Then, after he’d negotiated them to the bone, then he’d spring it on them that we weren’t financing through them and they wouldn’t get their finance vig, either. I’m still so traumatized by those days.

My in laws were helping us by a Nissan Xrerra years ago. My mother in law would make friends with everyone. I remember she brought balloons to the dealership she was so excited we were buying the car. We were all in the finance room and as soon as that guy said extended warranty she flipped on a dime. Her tone completely changed and she said are you telling us this isn’t a reliable car. Maybe we shouldn’t be buying this. I will never forget the look on that guys face and the no no no it’s great you don’t need any of this. She had her ways and we lost her 21 years ago. I miss her.

Approximately 150 miles battery range. We will have more specifics about the range extender as development continues.
The 150mi battery sounds good. Normal home use would ony require a 2-3times a week charge and at a. 50cents per gallon equivalent would save owners a couple thousand dollars a year off gasoline. The regeneration would eliminate setting 'somewhere ' to wait for charging!

We are looking at a number of trim options. Too early to say, but something similar has been discussed.
I'd like the "Original 800A Owner" package please. That's a stripped, wash-out version, but with super-heated & massaging seats that have great support for my aching back and can give it a good once over, a 360 camera because my head doesn't swivel as freely as it used to, and a steady comfy suspension because when I was a kid I was promised that we'd have flying cars by now, and I believed it. Oh, and put that on/off button up above -- everybody wants to be a pilot. Bonus points if it has one of those covers that you have to flick open in order to use it...I'll tell my friends it's for the ejection seat.
