Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
South Carolina based news....Apparently not a Scout supporter...lol

Scout Motors Spams S.C. Lawmakers After Crony Capitalist Carveout Exposed
$1.3 billion in corporate welfare wasn’t enough?

I'm not sure FITS News is remotely close to a neutral news source.

The overwhelming majority of funding mentioned in the article regarding the Scout Motors factory was spent by the state on infrastructure improvements to the property. Expensive projects like a railroad bridge over a highway were the bulk of how those funds were spent. That was the state's commitment to try and get the factory built in South Carolina.

We have been transparent in what we are asking regarding selling/delivering vehicles in South Carolina regardless of how that person wants to spin/distort it.

Volkswagen didn't say the government/administration is the problem, the author of the article mentions it regarding the unknown future.

Second, the government isn't funding car manufacturers through tax credits. The Inflation Reduction Act actually made it more difficult to qualify for tax credits. Nearly 40 vehicles were immediately off the list because they aren't/weren't produced in America. The second portion of the tax credit stipulates that a certain percentage of battery minerals have to be sourced from North America (and the percentage is on an increasing scale). It is consumers that would receive (or dealers getting reimbursed) for the tax credit. So as it stands now we have to wait and see what the new administration will actually do. The Inflation Reduction Act actually encouraged quite a bit of private manufacturing investment (Billions) across the country, particularly in "red" states. Let's see how this plays out.
Thank you for the response.

We all need to remember that at the moment there are a lot of unknowns and significant biased speculation (no politics implied). A lot of different variables driving the market.

A lot of fortune tellers in this world. I wish I could see the future too...lol

I will say it. Fits News is a biased news source.

I am biased for Scout

Tell that to GM, Rivian, Chrysler who will never pay back those federal loans they took.

I was referring to tax incentives specifically mentioned in the original article you quoted.

As for your quote above, you are lumping a bunch of different things together. Chrysler/Stallantis paid back the bailout money they received in 2009/2010. GM paid back $39 of $49 billion. I'm not sure GM going bankrupt would have been any less damaging to the economy and unemployment when you factor in all the employees, factories and suppliers. Rivian just received a loan, so it remains to be seen if they pay it all back.

I don't have time all day to fact-check this stuff... :D

All good Jamie! Also I’m a moron for not reading thoroughly on what you said.

Illuminating video on the the state of what is possible, from a current technologies perspective, regarding EV battery packs and DC fast charging.

The punchline summary: from Zeeker, a 7X with a 75 kilowatt hour LFP cell pack, 10-80% charge in 9 minutes 40 seconds when preconditioned, using an 800KW+ charging station! 0-100% took 22 minutes 20 seconds, and at 100% the estimated range was 600 kilometers (373 miles).

Saw this today. The charging is "quite good".

Caveat, that the range, is using the chinese range estimate (CLTC), is usually regarded as "exceptionally optimistic".

Converting the CLTC range to EPA range, gives you a range estimate of ~421km (263 miles).

For those considering the Terra there was a story update on this forum on 1/17 with a full breakdown of items they are willing to share to date (stories tab on home page for those who haven’t explored). It may not answer all questions but it clarifies a number of things so take a look if the Terra is your preferred SM vehicle.

A thread to drop news articles into.
Tesla is the only EV maker that can sell directly to consumers in WA. Lawmakers might change that

"...hearing on a bill to repeal Tesla’s exemption. That would mean no company that solely manufactures electric vehicles could directly sell their vehicles to customers..."

Interesting approach

It's not really a new idea. An ICE engine turning a generator that in turn drives an electric drive train and also charges a battery has been around forever. Patent filed in 1889 by William H. Patton. Look up the Patton locomotive.
Doesn’t matter. It’s still not common in the Automotive industry. They could easily patent the technology. If they weren’t going to make something that was improved from his patent, then why would new R&D be need and why would it be taking so long for the information on it to come out on the Harvester?

And the Patton Locomotive was a standard hybrid not an EREV.

With the Ramcharger coming out a full year or two ahead of the Scouts, I'm not sure that we'll see Scout Patenting it.

Unless of course, they do it in some materially different way (which they might), but afaik, that probably won't be the case? But of course, if they can, and then license it, then yes, lets do that.

The only thing that worries me about the Ramcharger is that they keep pushing it’s production back and that it’s price tag is super expensive, which makes my believe that it will be yet another fail for Ram and Stellantis.
