Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I guess if Scout goes this route, at least there would likely be a physical toggle to deploy/recall the drone.

I would like to see a Scout drone that you can buy as an accessory and launch by hand and have it follow the vehicle. Almost like DJI’s track mode.

Expensive car & limited by the charging infrastructure but interesting....

...we developed new, unique technology to allow the 926V Lucid Gravity to charge seamlessly at up to 400 kW on 1000V charging equipment and at sustained speeds of up to 225 kW on 500V architecture fast chargers, including Tesla V3 Superchargers....

...This novel technology allows full compatibility with 500V and 1000V charging networks, offering Lucid Gravity customers maximum charging speed on whatever charger is most accessible. At peak charging rates, the Lucid Gravity sustains a robust charging curve, adding 200 miles in less than 12 minutes...

Honda plans sub-$30,000 EV model for North America

According to Nikkei, Honda plans to launch a smaller EV priced under $30,000 in the US as early as 2026. It will be made locally, starting with the batteries, to cut costs.

At under $30,000, Honda’s new EV would be cheaper than most gas-powered cars

Sadly, IMO the new Honda EV’s are just too futuristic. They don’t appeal to me at all. But maybe younger gen’s will buy them

They make the BMW Neue Klasse look not futuristic. I think all these Car companies are taking EVs and the Future to the extreme. I understand drag coefficient and stuff but not every car needs to look like it’s coming out of cyberpunk.

And Honda is in a rough financial mess at the moment so I wouldn’t think they would be able to turn a profit on a 30k car unless it’s being made by child slave labor in ChInA.

You’re spot on about the bimmer-which I also don’t care for-but better than Hondas. Lucid and SM seem to have it figured out in my opinion. One is classically unglued and the other is sleek and modern without being everything you described above

Volkswagen ID.7 Canceled For North America

VW has officially scrapped its plans for the ID.7 in the U.S. and Canada.

I think they are making the write choice by not putting the ID.7 into a flooded market. But to blame it on the. Current administration is ridiculous, they are still allow tax credits. All subsidies are cut off. Which to be perfectly honest I think is the best, survival of the fittest. The car industry shouldn’t be government funded. If you not turning a profit then too bad close the doors. Government funding Manufacturers didn’t start until 2008. Also consumers choice should be allowed, i don’t want to walk into a dealership and get an EV rammed down my throat.

Main reason for reserving a Traveler Harvester, one it takes gas lol. Second i made the choice not some guy with slicked back black hair with a suit and tie who will be getting 10k from the purchase.

I go back and forth on this. I’m cool dropping the credit though that impacts my upgrades but assuming all funding to continue adding chargers to highway networks will be cut off impacts a LOT of people who want to buy but already have range anxiety. Killing every incentive for EV and pushing drilling tells me there is no support of EV growth in any aspect. Time will tell but the money allotted for charger infrastructure has already been put on hold.
I assume it’s so Elon can just add his and continue getting wealthier.

Everyone seems to think that all the chargers in place to be build are going away when in reality they are getting finished and will be put online.

Thanks for sharing. I hate that this type of info gets buried from everyday people interested in EV. Every EV manufacturer should post info like this on their websites. Because all I heard was the pause on the $5billion

I agree the new BMW designs look great without being overly futuristic.

Volkswagen didn't say the government/administration is the problem, the author of the article mentions it regarding the unknown future.

Second, the government isn't funding car manufacturers through tax credits. The Inflation Reduction Act actually made it more difficult to qualify for tax credits. Nearly 40 vehicles were immediately off the list because they aren't/weren't produced in America. The second portion of the tax credit stipulates that a certain percentage of battery minerals have to be sourced from North America (and the percentage is on an increasing scale). It is consumers that would receive (or dealers getting reimbursed) for the tax credit. So as it stands now we have to wait and see what the new administration will actually do. The Inflation Reduction Act actually encouraged quite a bit of private manufacturing investment (Billions) across the country, particularly in "red" states. Let's see how this plays out.
