What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I'll go one step further than you: without CarPlay, I will not buy a Scout. I'm currently on a lease for a Nissan Ariya - and the only reason is that the vehicle I really wanted, the Rivian R1S, does not support CarPlay. Like Tesla, Rivian has decided they want to milk their customers for more services revenue by locking down their infotainment system. Their explanations, of course, don't say that. Rivian's CEO couches it as "Rivian thinks they can provide the best possible experience for their customers" - completely ignoring the fact that there's nothing preventing them from providing the best possible experience - if the customer agrees, nobody will use the CarPlay feature in a Rivian (or Tesla)! But the fact of the matter is that what Rivian thinks is the "best possible experience" doesn't necessarily match its customers needs. What if I don't want Rivian to download all my contacts and other private information - just so its voice assistant can more easily navigate me to a contact's address? I've already placed my "security/privacy" bet on Apple - I don't want to run the risk of Rivian getting its servers hacked and getting to that info!

Anyway, Scout, provide CarPlay/Android Auto and give your customer *CHOICE*. Don't try to make extra revenues by selling your customers the same features their phones already have.
I backed away from an R1S for a couple of reasons. That wasn't really one of them, but it does tie into one of my concerns with Rivian. These are very expensive vehicles. I'd expect that for the premium, they'd give the customer what they wanted. Having been in a couple of R1S, they're pretty exceptional vehicles. And the sound systems are far from "providing the customer with the best possible experience." Mediocre, at best. Just don't get that in a $90-100K vehicle. Give the customer the choice and if you're set up blows away Car Play, I'm sure folks would use it.

The front truck should be a cooler. Like Rivian. Or the small space under the sliding bench should be a cooloer. ie. have a secure lid, drain, and a little insulation. Or if there is a small space under the floor in the back. Like the wrangler.

When optioned with 2 seats in the front the chairs should each have their own folding arm rest. Like the old land 100 cruisers had. Or when optioned with a front bench it should have 2 separate fold down arm rests from within the center seat.

No mater what do not lose the split rear tailgate or front slide out bench. Having a place to sit allows the car to be a the focal point for all sorts of gatherings. Just not a means of transportation which so many cars and EV in particular are today.

When it comes to the new Scout, there has been a lot of talk of them having satellite internet. I think it would be great if there was RJ45 ethernet connection to the internet in both the bed (Terra)/cargo (Traveler) and the frunk.
Just curious, what is the use case you're thinking?
I'd like to know what WiFi tech is being used for the network.
WiFi 6/6E/7?
And how much configuration you can do. Eg radio power output, band size, turn off certain frequencies, etc.

It’s been mentioned in another thread but I thought I would add it here. I would like to see factory options for tonneau covers for the Terra. I would advise against an automatic cover. Rivian initially had a lot of issues with theirs and it seems like just another thing that will break. However, simple hard or manual rolling tonneau cover options would be nice. I’ve heard of a couple companies that are building solar tonneau covers but I haven’t looked into it to see if they are any good. Might be something to look into though….

The one option I want in the extended range versions is detailed control over the behavior of the battery and ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) combination.

I watched one of the CES YouTube videos of the Scout, and while reviewing the interface they mentioned the driver can set the behavior behavior to be "auto", "battery only", and "full time ICE" (likely for towing). I want more control then that.

For example:
- I want the option to set different battery/ICE behavior when towing.
-- There should be an easily accessible option in the interface so I can quickly set "tow mode".
-- Tow mode should adjust the battery/ICE behavior and also configure everything else for towing (such as adjusting the rear sensors).
-- I want to set up a "towing configuration" with my preferences and have the interface remember and use them when I turn on "tow mode".
-- At a minimum, I want to be able to set how low to let the battery get before engaging the ICE, with this setting being different than non-towing mode.

- I want to be able to set the behavior when using the Scout as a generator (utility mode?).
-- I want the option to use battery only (with a user configurable cut off from 10% to 50%).
-- I want the option to set it to start the ICE when the battery gets below X% charge. I also want to be able to set it to charge up to Y% when that happens (and then turn off the ICE until it is needed again).
-- I want to option to shut off the ICE when the fuel gets below a certain level (again, configurable) when being used as a generator.

I read through all of the requests and didn't see something mentioned. I would like a truck that I can commute with but also tow a 3000 boat and have the ability to install a ladder rack. Not the kind for carrying your plastic canoe, but something that will allow me to carry a bunch of 12ft 2x6s. And with all due respect to the other requests, hopefully you have a version without things like HUD, satellite connectivity, and all the other fancy stuff that really belongs in a car. For example, if you sold me a 1976 Scout II with an electric motor, I'd be just as happy.

You can find them if you search bring a trailer or similar sites

I don’t camp but love that idea. Also wonder in a foil lining in the rear seat could be layered to help keep heat in when you are camping
I use camping mats currently. But when you’re car camping at nearly 9,000 feet in the Rockies late in the 14er season… a few heat strips embedded in the back of the seat frame would sure be nice.

You can eat dandelions. There are other edible weeds, I hear. I was thinking about what financial scam I could pull off that was just legal enough to avoid going to prison for in order to make money quick and then throw it into a CD or something and the best I could think of was buying herbs and empty capsules and making health claims about them that aren’t technically wrong, like “you can take these pills and increase your reaction time!” because they make you poop. A lot.

PLEASE READ THIS! I currently have a pre-order for both the truck and the SUV, currently living in Maine one of the most important features that I have ever come across is night vision/thermal imaging. Up in the north east in all throughout Canada moose and another large animals pose a major threat to driver safety. Their eyes do not reflect from vehicle headlights like deer, another large animals, which leaves the thermal imaging or night vision to be the only piece of technology to negate hitting one by accident. This is an option that is shared throughout Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche, even enabling this as an option would be tremendous. Additionally, the option of a HEATED WINDSHIELD is something that no other EV brand offers, which is an incredible feature in snowy and icy climates.

On a not as important, but very preferred note, massage seats would be nice, not sure if there’s any plan to add that.
Several EVs have heated windshields, including ford, Hyundai (according to the big G), Porsche, and maybe others. Thermal imaging would be cool (no pun intended 😜)

For whatever it’s worth, you needn’t worry about me selling dubious “medicines.” Still trying to figure out my middle-aged life’s purpose so I can go make those Scout-buying bucks.

Hey, there’s a feature nobody’s asked about: farming cryptocurrency.

a camera mirror, a branded soundsystem (maybe for more cooler efrect you can partmner with a legacy brand maybe marshall sherwood, etcetc, to match the legacy came back vibe) an HUD (if it has AR better) an interior camera to take selfies and use as a dashcam like some chinese brands and maybe you can add social media apps to comunity ux imagine livestreaming in your scout, (evn better if you somehow engineer it into the compass and make it a 360 camera) and a karoke micrphone that cxonnects to the car imagine that would be the ltimate roaftrip amusement

Option for a factory sourced camper shell / Hard shell for the pickup. Will be a while before ARE or other 3rd party options are available and for those of us that want pickup bed storage but live in snow country hard shells are nice
