What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Close! Although its German like Raaw (and I love their bikes), its not one of theirs. Another guess I get often from people on the trail is Nicolai.

Its neither. Its a Kavenz.

The same company that does 77Designs components, made a high pivot frame with swappable shock mounts (for 120-140-150-160-180mm of travel variants, both 29'er and mullet options), swappable chainstay lengths (0, +10mm, and +20mm), and dual crown support.

No matter what they do...they have to give us the ability to shut off ALL smarty pants junk that has the truck driving us instead of us driving the truck/SUV!

Push button ability to disable all of it...crash, lane departure, on and on...I still like to be in complete control of my driving experience and I DO NOT want the truck driving me down the highway or gravel road!!! Please don't screw this part up.

From what we've heard, Scout will not be FSD, so that is not a concern. Even if Scout offered a FSD update, it would still need to be manually engaged. Also, I don't know of any current make or model truck that defaults to "turning on smarty pants junk" when you start a drive.

L2 driving (as an option) is almost table stakes for all new vehicles on the road today, and the set of features/sensors/SW required for L2 driving is shared with a set of safety features. Safety ratings and NHTSA ratings help sell modern vehicles.

The issue there is they need to meet safety ratings. Some of those features can be turned on and off while certain items ( I believe) must be on all the time. I agree with you but unfortunately the percentage of drivers who text while driving goes up probably every year so this safety crap is to keep them alive. Those of us who love to drive stay focused. There in lies one of the major issues

The new CES videos showcase both Adaptive Cruise Control, and "L2+, hands off" driving modes. Also mentioned something about lane centering.

No idea if all of that is standard, or optional. That said, nothing prevents you from not using them even if they are included.

As you said, I think that especially as an EV sort of vehicle in 2027, not having them would be a relative miss in the market.

FWIW, I've never driven in a vehicle with L2 driving capabilities, and I'm not sure how much I trust it. Our newest vehicle (the other ones were/are from the 90's and early 00's) has Adaptive Cruise Control, and lane keeping assist. The latter of which I don't find I use all that often.

But even that vehicle will be 5 years old by the time that the Scouts come out, and in a totally different market segment and price bracket. Curious to see how things end up.

Sunglasses holder. If the compass is the reason that there isn't a sunglasses holder already planned, I'd definitely want to drop that compass so there's room for a holder instead. The compass is a fun/cool aesthetic choice, but not really needed.

Some sort of mode that allows one selection to turn off all lighting. Is useful for camp mode, so maybe an option within that?

But I can think of many uses cases for this. One would be at drive-in theaters. The ability to not have any lights flash on or turn on when opening/closing doors, etc. A single-touch mode that enabled zero lighting like this would be fantastic.

You should watch the videos posted from CES.

I just want to mention a little that i hope engineers wouldn't add too much nice features and push the price too high. Lowkey hopes a mid tier with some nice features without too much stress paying the car loan.

Good news there is that you are not "allowed" to fully trust L2 by definition (and implementation). You are required to keep alert and to keep a hand on your steering wheel. Even if it is just a finger, you must be ready to take control. L2 is far better than adaptive with lane keeping for longer HWY journeys, as the car will completely drive itself - you just can't go to sleep or be inattentive. The result on longer trips is a more relaxed and less stressful drive IMHO. I think I've mentioned this before, but you can also be more efficient when you "set it and forget it" and let the truck maintain an optimal speed, which can improve range... Esp if you have a lead foot. LOL

I want less features, not more lol.

I'm concerned about the concepts interiors, too nice for me.

I want vinyl floors, vinyl windows.

I want the cheapest, most straightforward pickup that can haul 2k, tow 10k, that I can fill with greasy rusty car parts and tow my other trucks around with.

I'm going to throw a wild idea out there. Some ML based object detection.

I don't know what the underlying OS is for the media center but it looks way fast and smooth to be these hobbled together monstrosities from other vendors. I know Redhat is working with car manufacturers to get a real time Linux kernel in there. So maybe it is Linux. Point being it looks pretty capable under the hood.

With that assumption out of the way (yes I know what they about assuming). But if true, that's a pretty open ecosystem. There are many open source projects out there that can run ML/AI object detection. And really doesn't require much resources. You need the right tool for the job. But googles TPU chip which will outperform any thousand dollar CPU, only costs like $40 for an average consumer. And along with those projects there's thousands of already pre-trained objects to pull from.

Where am I going with this?
With all the cameras and what I mentioned. You could could have a true early warning detection system.
Throw in a Deer model, now as you're driving down that mountain side at dusk, your object detection could pick up that deer on the edge of the road up ahead. And give you a subtle in dash or console icon denoting an object off to the right. Just a little hey be careful, nothing crazy to distract or cause panic.

..... This has been a concept of mine for a while, but time and resources I don't think I'll get it off the ground in a meaningful way. Happy to talk Project Management terms 😉

1) I would like to see a high power USB C port on the dash. Possibly 2. For go pro, cameras, dash cams or other devices. In my jeep I place a rear view trailer cam screen that connects to a camera on the rear of my trailer. Letting me see behind the trailer.

2) would be amazing to be able to Bluetooth a device to see on the in dash screen. Same purpose above. I have a nice screen in my jeep but I can not hook that to my rear trailer cam. So I have a bulk screen on top of my dash when trailering.

No truck has these features.

Led lights under the truck for use of lighting up camp while in camp mode or a conduction speaker in the tailgate it would keep battery usage down but allow foe entertainment.
