Fuel option/crucial to success

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

2 Motors are crucial to the successful future of the scout and all vehicles in that matter. The times are not calling for electric, it's a forced agenda/ rushed. Options are of course are good but not all out EV.

It's somewhat early to predict what 2026/2027 will look like. However, I agree, there has been a lot in the news lately about sagging EV sales in the face of interest rates and dropping gas prices. While I would love a dual-drive vehicle I think the proverbial die has been cast at this point.

I believe the commitment to full battery electric at Scout is set at this point. I feel we're just in a growing pains stage right now with charging infrastructure. I don't own any ICE vehicles anymore and that has worked really well for me. I get it though that I have a garage and can charge at home when many people can't. I think hybrids are an important part of the electric transition and it's not the right time for everyone to switch.

Just traded my Acura TLX type S tonight for a Honda Accord Hybrid. Part of my preparation for the new Scout EV as my fun vehicle. That said, I’ve ranted on the forum already about keeping Scout an EV and game plan in motion. So I had a new thought. There is a huge mental obstacle in jumping from ICE to EV. Toyota just introduced the 2024 Camry with one engine choice-a HYBRID. I think if the major automakers committed in the next three years to convert 80-100% of their ICE’s to Hybrid this would force all new buyers to take the next step toward EV. Quit selling traditional ICE’s and people will at least take one step forward. Instead of feeling like government is forcing it have the manufacturers step up and decide via product offerings.
I realize a hybrid is a mid step and not the most efficient BUT-trust me-it’s a HUGE step for me. I drove it 36 miles home tonight and while it doesn’t have the get up and go of the turbo V6 the Acura had it was very nice to drive. Quiet as hell (which I need to get used to-benefit is the stereo sounds SO MUCH better). I’m going from 20mpg to basically 42 mpg so half as much gas. These are all steps for me to save money for Scout, get accustomed and be a better educated person as the world moves toward EV’s-no matter the pace. Going Hybrid would start improving the environment, reduce gas consumption and allow time to continue improving EV charging infrastructure.

I drove a Prius for 10 years and it was a great car. Never had a problem with it.
