Dimensions Traveler - Updated

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I'm in a similar situation. The bollards in front of the water heater limit my garages length to 204in (which would be touching both the garage door, and the bollard, so realistic limit is a few in smaller than that). I think the option to put the spare tire a few other locations (in the rear trunk area behind the hatch, and also the underbody option) will really help with that aspect.

Its amazing that the spare tire carrier adds ~17in in OAL.
fortunately the delay between now and when it is available gives me time to figure out how to expand our carport!

That's what I'm thinking. 80" wide body is fine but hopefully they can get the total width with mirrors a little more compact before production.
I hope they keep it 80" wide. That's basically same as the F-150, which feels so roomy inside. Plus any skinnier and the proportion of vehicle width to length would be thrown off and not be as nice looking.

This thread was helpful. I read an article talking about how wide the Travler was, and I was getting disappointed. It’s still wider than I would like, but not as bad as I thought. It should still fit on mountain back roads. Although it will probably get extra pin stripes from brush.

I'm sure the mirrors will include a motorized fold-in feature like so many other modern vehicles, which would make the concern about total width moot.

Looking for the cargo dimensions too! I need to carry a folding electric wheelchair. It fit in the back of my Kia Sorento (which got totalled) and now I haul it in my Audi Q7. I'm guessing based on the pics the Traveller is similar?

Folded the chair is 27” x 17” x 30”.

See my other response but your chair will easily fit in the rear and possibly the frunk. Thought I had frunk pic but I don’t. Dig around and I’m sure you’ll find a few pics of frunk on forum-I know they are here somewhere

Agreed, this should fit easily.

There are talks of the traveler interior being wide enough to fit 4x8 sheets of plywood between the wheelwells. So the 30" width of your chair there is easily handled.

I don't believe that we have vertical height for the opening yet. But visually it looks like a spare tire could probably fit upright in the back, so we're talking ~33-35in at least vertically, and in depth.

So yeah, should be easy peasy.

I don't own a vehicle that many would consider modern - but the only vehicle I have owned with motorized mirrors is my F250. It has towing mirrors that are about 2x as wide as normal - and can be extended a few inches wider if needed. At the time I got my previous F150, I do not recall towing mirrors being an option on it.

All that said, normal mirrors generally don't extend much wider than the wheel flairs - so it is somewhat less of an issue. Towing mirrors, definitely would be nice to have them collapsible. I do it as a curtsy when in a crowded parking lot (so I don't get keyed - has happened to me before, noticed my truck was keyed, then saw the mirror was heavily knocked out of place), and often even when trying to go through a drive through so I can get close enough to reach (although that is not always possible).
