Audio system

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
A vehicle provides a completely different acoustical environment to what most audio companies are used to working with. It requires specialist experience. So any partner would need to have experience designing in-vehicle systems, or else it’s just a branding exercise.

Apple CarPlay now supports Dolby Atmos spatial audio. So I’d hope any partner also needs to have experience building for spatial audio systems.
Typically this involves creating a 3D model of the car interior. Lower end sound design efforts don't take into account materials and accurate NVH characteristics of the vehicle on motion. The higher end systems like B&O, B&W, Burmester, and Meridian usually work more closely with the automaker including real-world tuning.

I’d say I’m not as particular on the brand as I am the sound “consultant that tunes the system. Acuras always had phenomenal sound and I couldn’t tell you whose speakers but the tuning in the cabin was perfect. And no longer relevant but 10 years ago when you could still play audio DVD’s it sounded like you were on stage with the band. So any quality manufacturers but please have it tuned to the specific vehicle
I had a 2005 Acura TL. I loved playing DVD-Audio on it, especially Roy Orbison's Black and White Night. By the way, Panasonic made the ELS system (They also made the Fender system in my VW Golf). My Lexus LC500 will play some of my DVD-Audio discs, but not all (LC's had a CD/DVD player until 2024).

Loved the DVD. Had Metallica live and the Eagles live and MY GOD they ruined me for music. Didn’t realize Panasonic made ELS. Thanks for the knowledge

There’s car audio news today from Bose. They have acquired the McIntosh group.

This should mean great things for automotive audio.

The McIntosh CEO says "Gaining access to [Bose] expertise as a pioneer in automotive audio will also help us accelerate our presence and enable us to deliver solutions that are commensurate with our reputation and performance standards.”

Love it. I am betwixt Bose/McIntosh and Klipsch for my picks!

I was big on McIntosh till I heard they were acquired by Bose but hopefully like Scout is to VW, they will be to Bose. I guess tube amplification is out of the question? haha

It would be pretty cool to have a pair of analog output level screens front and center but not buying an ICE to get it and regardless as has been stated, the tune(r) is critical given the harsh environment of car audio.

Comsol just released an updated version of their multi-physics simulation software. This is the industry standard for acoustics. The new software better models the effects of materials such as carpet in the vehicle cabin.

For more information and to see an animation of a automotive cabin acoustic simulation, see

Scout….following up on this. Please have a good audio system standard and across the board for all trims. Similar to what Tesla does.

Preferably also a great upgrade system. I’ll shell out $5-7K for an audio upgrade. That’s how important it is to my car-driving experience.
