Audio system

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I don't know about anybody else, but I plan to play this as I drive out of the South Carolina plant in 2027. This song for me will now forever be connected to the Scout Reveal! ❤️❤️❤️

Ever since the reveal its been on repeat in my head. I think ive watched the video of the scouts coming out at least a thousand times just to hear that song and see them roll out of the barn/garage.

Sitting in the stands at the reveal I had a tear roll when that started. It just all connected and brought back memories

I some how just made the connection that thats the same band that sing “Have You Ever Seen The Rain?” Now i think my appreciation of the reveal song has gone trough the roof. Crazy that I only noticed it know since when do you hear the name Creedence Clearwater Revival everyday.

CCR has many hits. A great classic band. Damn, probably showing my age a bit here 🤣

Depends on your age 🤣. Many of us choose to listen regularly enough

Whatever the brand, it won't be loud enough or have enough bass for me, so please have full-range audio coming from the "head unit" to whatever amp/processing package is used. That at least allows me to access wiring and add additional amps as desired. Hopefully the 12v system will be amenable to upgrades for audio and exterior lighting at a minimum.

I see this was posted so won’t start a new thread but also curious what type of system the SUV will have and who is Scout working with-can that be shared at this time?
Had plenty of Acuras with great sound systems and our new Honda Pilot has the premium Bose system and it is very good. Hope the system has plenty of speakers 12 minimum and maybe premium system with 18 or 19 so a killer sub-woofer speaker can be in the rear. Please don’t short change the audio system like Ford did with the Bronco.
I also laughed that we recently purchased a Lexus IS -new and it has a single disc player in the stereo face which blew my mind. Kinda wish the Scout would include one as a bit of a retro touch but also so I can play the 30+ albums I still have sitting in a soft case.
A CD player would be so nice, a single would be great but a six track would be perfect in these.

I’ve had nothing but good experience with my Bose consumer audio, wouldn’t whine if I was told to expect Bose audio in my car. I don’t know why folks get down on Bose when you bring them up in any discussion about speakers. The other thing that I’ve liked when I’ve reached out to them? Tech support is in the US, right in their Framingham, MA office. I don’t mind that. The majority of the company is owned by MIT because Amar Bose was an MIT professor and his patents are theirs, ergo. MIT is really into protecting its image. None of these are bad qualities.

Want to add to the requests for a premium sound system. As a long time EV driver, a high sound quality system is just as important as high volume capabilities. I did not buy a Tesla since the SQ was not very good. I currently have a Meridian system in my iPace and don't want to step down from that when buying a real SUV. The Meridian system in the RS1 sounds great, and I assume by the time the Traveler is released LR will have an EV with a Meridian system as well. Looks like Scout will win on function and capabilities, but the sound system can't suck or the wife will get the final choice.

If going for a classic American partnership, Polk SR mobile speakers were some of the best USA designs available. While made in China, I had a set of separates in a VW bus that worked well over engine noise and were awesome when camping. I drove mine with a Denon head unit and Sony amps, but a/d/s and Soundstream are also from the same era. Also Alpine had its roots in Motorola and Alps, so maybe its origin as a US - Japanese partnership is not too far off the mark. Or maybe do something with Marantz or Kenwood. Whatever you do it needs to sound good as EV's are unforgiving of a bad system.

I have no complaints with my experiences with Alpine systems in a couple of vehicles. I haven’t heard any of the other systems and I’m not an audiophile, so I guess there’s that. I won’t be willing (able?) to fork out a big premium for premium audio unfortunately, but a step down from my Alpine system would be a disappointment.

I’d say I’m not as particular on the brand as I am the sound “consultant that tunes the system. Acuras always had phenomenal sound and I couldn’t tell you whose speakers but the tuning in the cabin was perfect. And no longer relevant but 10 years ago when you could still play audio DVD’s it sounded like you were on stage with the band. So any quality manufacturers but please have it tuned to the specific vehicle

I'm sure you're not but don't take this lightly Scout. You'd be surprised how something like this can bring down the desirability of a product. Its things that owners interact with everyday that you need to nail: seats, steering wheel, audio, infotainment, ingress/egress, HVAC, camera quality, grab handles, wireless charger that works well.

Bang & Olufsen, Mark Levinson, Harmon Kardon, Bowers & Wilkins. Any one of these systems would be awesome. If they go in-house lets hope they are closer to Tesla than Rivian.
