Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

So I am going to upgrade my off road trailer when I purchase my Terra. The trailer is the max weight and size that I would want to go to with Terra. It is an Exodus Capax. Here are the specs:

1. 7,750 lb gvwr. 6,700 dry
2. 21 ft long
3. 700 pound tongue weight
4. 8' 4" wide cab over wheel

I feel like this is the perfect Terra off road trailer because it is a pop up that is only 72" high in tow mode. It's wide which is both a concern for towing in cross winds but awesome for airstream type interior width. It would line up aerodynamicly so much better then my much lighter current trailer 9 feet tall. Probably do better on range even though it's twice as heavy.

So the reason I am posting this is to beg Scout to offer auto extending side tow mirrors. The kind that retract in. Even manually push in would work.

Also if Scout offers a spare tire off the rear like the Traveller i hope the hitch receiver is not buried under bumper.

Can anyone else think of things that would be nice to have on Terra for towing off road?

I'm interested in a Terra as well (but for my 17' fiberglass camper), but I'm concerned about using the range-extender to tow. There's not enough pull-through DCFC around yet to make towing all-electric viable for me (I'm not gonna inhitch/hitch every gas stop), but the way the Range Extended has been described by Scout I'm afraid it's probably got a pretty small tank. They make it sound like it's 350miles EV and "500 miles combined".... Which means 150miles gas. Which means it's gonna be closer to 75miles gas towing. So like I'll get one good haul leaving the house fully charged, and then it's another gas fill-up nearly every hour.

I really hope I'm wrong, cause this truck ticks off ALL the other boxes for me (Carplay/AA, switches and knobs, offroad capabilities, bench seat, etc).

Annnnd, just saw in another thread that someone talked to Scout at the reveal, and has it on really good authority that the Harvester edition has a 150mile EV range and 350mile gas range. I _really_ hope that's accurate cause it would totally address my towing needs.

The way I understand the Harvester is once that 500 (250ish with trailer) mile range is hit one has to recharge not just add gas and keep going. Just wish for the Terra they could fit the bigger 350 (or more by release date) mile battery then have a smaller Harvester engine that goes 100 or so. Like I said before by 2028 there will be more pull throughs. Maybe larger trailers take longer but my trailer is off in 5 min.

I keep going back and forth on Harvester. It all depends on how much smaller the battery will be. I have faith that the full ev battery will grow. Call me crazy but I am researching rolling with a DuroMax 16,000 watt generator/inverter ($5k) I will be installing a Bruno Curbside hoist in the rear of the bed for my daughters wheelchair. This will help load the 350 generator on camping trips very quickly. I would come up with a secure mounting system. Will need to carry 4x 5 gallon gas cans. Terre will liklely have accessories to mount safely. This size generator can charge the truck in 6 hours or so. I believe i could just leave it in the truck while charging. Biggest problem is running the generator all night. I have always been anti generator. Most of our camping is off grid and I could separate trailer from truck. Thoughts?

The following is how I understand the Harvester works, please correct me if I am wrong. I assume that if the battery only has 150 miles (75 towing) range and the Harvester generator has 350 that the battery is significantly smaller then the 350 range of the total EV model. My guess is that when the Harvester kicks on at 150 there is likley still quite a bit of charge left and the Harvester generator produces enough charge to keep the vehicle moving for the additional 350 miles for a total of 500 miles (250 towing). At this point I assume the Scout would need a super charger to charge back up to 100%. My guess is that maybe the Harvester could charge the battery to 100% but at Level 2 speed of 8 hours and of course not while truck is in transit.

So say I go on a trip with trailer and hit a super charger at 5pm and head out for off grid site. With Harvester I can drive 100-250 miles until dark. I would hit the camp site with 5-25 % charge. Will the Harvester charge the battery overnight? If it does my generator idea would not be nessassary.

Have you read through everything? I know I and others that were at reveal have provided review of this. Happy to add more if it wasn’t clear? Regarding the last paragraph-nobody knows this. It’s all just speculation at this point

If i go total ev and use generator i would arrive at camp with 10% charge. If I stay at camp the gas for the generator to keep truck near 80 % might be more like 30 gallons which is probably 3-4 days max.

It all boiles down to will that Harvester generator charge at Level 2 speed. It has to have a bigger engine than the DuroMax right?

Yes I read everything. That is were i came up with my assumptions. In your opinion don't you think the Harvester could produce the same amount of watts as the duraax 16,000?

Dont know the duraax. The general consensus it the generator will be a 3-4 cylinder, VW sourced, gasoline engine small enough to fit under rear of vehicle somewhere around/over the rear axle. Beyond that there isn’t anything factual to this point so its just a speculation celebration 🤣
I’m committed to going full EV. We have a 3-row ICE so I’m covered. I think there is a lot of opportunity for variations on what outcome may be. On the technical side, @CarTechGeek seems pretty close in assumptions to what I’m thinking as well as @R1TVT and @LastDayScout. I’d read through there stuff. Last day scout and myself-along with about 4 others were at the reveal so we heard a number of unofficial comments but again-the harvester was last minute and presuming it is based on known engineering possibilities but until SM works through it the outcome could evolve and range could possibly not crease by another 10% or more. Nobody really knows other than SM and @Jamie@ScoutMotors telling is true source information 😀

I can’t see it charging that slow, based on 500 mile range with only 150 EV it wouldn’t work. The 150 miles would be gone in under 3 hours of driving at highway speed and a level 2 wouldn’t be able to charge it back up fast enough to keep going for another 350 miles.

I am talking about while I am camping and sleeping at night. Will it charge the truck batteries in 8 hours?

I would expect so, I know we don’t know the battery size but if it was around 75kW for 150 miles that would be level 2 speeds to full charge
If you look at the size of the DuroMax generator around 30x38 at 34" tall and 350 pounds. I am sure the Harvester won't have that big of foot print and maybe it won't be able to charge at all when the vehicle is not in transit?

There are multiple CES/Scout video here and on YouTube that mention a camping mode so there will likely be some variation of charging when parked. To what extent is still unknown.
