Swore I’d never buy an EV, then Scout happened

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I’ve sworn for years I’d never buy an EV. It’s not that I have anything against them, it’s just that none of them really got me excited or fit my needs. I’m also not convinced that the charging network is where it needs to be. I like the idea of being able to drive 500 miles with nothing more than a quick pee stop and topping off the gas tank. I was intrigued by what Scout might do, but figured it would just be another flashy EV. While watching the reveal I was impressed by the details that Scout put into the vehicle, but knew it wouldn’t be for me. And then Scout dropped the Harvester with the range extended gas option. If Scout can truly offer this vehicle in 2027 for $60,000 ish like they claim, my order will go through.

I love the idea of the range extender model. I may mean that folks will pay a premium to get it and maybe thus subsidize the BEV only version. As I want the BEV I love the concept of a gas option as it will drive up sales and success of the brand would be good.

My guess 240mile LFP BEV base at $59k, $68k 350mile BEV extended range and Harvester as a $7500 option on both.

My fear us no Bidirection charging with the small pack.

I'd love to be wrong but no way the range extender model will be 60k.
I’m suspect of pricing that far out regardless of manufacturer. Rivian is saying $45K for their R2 in ‘26 but doubt that too. However, batteries appear to be getting better and cheaper so that may offset other increases over time. Our loaded XC60 was almost $80K. I know it’s not apples to apples, but cars are way more expensive these days and I feel a decked out Traveler in ‘27 will hit $70K. Just try not to be sold on the price or it’ll taint this great feeling you have down the road.

Can’t imagine it will. But with a nearly 50% reduction in batteries to accomplish it, it may be close. Still guessing over $60K

The harvester package really shrinks the battery that much, woza

Really don’t care about price if it’s really comfortable & has the option of a high end package as it will be replacing a 24 Genesis GV80. We put on 18k miles travelling so far this year & still have 1-2 more short trips planned. Biggest problem with the Genesis is the seats, they are not comfortable long distances & going from Wyoming to Florida my backside was not happy

After 35 years of offroading, achy bones, bad back, and other health issues, I swore I was done offroading, especially since there were no affordable BEV options that could truly offroad.

Then Scout happened.

Been off roading since mid 80’s & between back surgeries and other military related injuries I swore my off roading was confined to gravel/ranch roads & pavement only in the winter & then Carli came out with the E Venture suspension 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

And now Scout is teasing with a Harvester

Well, I was incredibly enthusiastic about the Scout. During the reveal I was shocked to see the Harvester option and the prices were just above my budget, so I reserved immediately. I guess I should come down to Earth now. Everyone has convinced me that the pricing won’t happen. Too bad. I guess realistically I would have been stretching my budget too much anyway to purchase at the price they presented.
