Offer it with a gas motor

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

This should be offered with a gas or diesel engine.
By going strictly EV, you have taken the heart and soul out of the Scout. It wasn’t ever a poser vehicle, it was an almost indestructible work horse. It wasn’t built for luxury, the Scout was a beast.
By offering it only as an EV, you will attract only flannel wearing bun hair hipsters. No self respecting fan of the original Scouts would own one. We all saw them discontinued once and I fear we will see it again.
I would buy one in a gas powered model but will never own an EV. I am a fireman and know the true hazards of EV vehicles that the public is unaware of. EV manufacturers should be required by law to post warnings of hazards in their ads.
I live in a small town in west Texas and have already responded to 2 EV fires. The first was an accident where the battery system failed. The lithium batteries ignited shortly after the crash burning 3 inside. It burned for 12 hours and took 10,000 gallons of water to extinguish. The second caught fire while being rapid charged at an in home charging system. The heat of the charging in a garage compromised the battery housing resulting in a total loss of the vehicle as well as the entire house. I am uncertain of the water usage in this instance. Three department work tirelessly for 14 hours and likely used over 30,000 gallons on this fire. Both regurgitated 10-14 hours of toxic gas into the atmosphere. Water is a precious commodity in west Texas and in many areas across the US is a resource that should never be wasted.

In closing, until there is a better containment system and safer charging options, I feel most EV companies will fail before the technology catches up. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

What’s wrong with driving on a beach, last time we were in Boca Chica on the beach a couple Tesla cyber trucks were also on the beach. As far as water, what about winter when you have feet of snow, busting snowdrift 3-4 feet high, snow gets into everything & melts/freezes

Coming full circle, every vehicle has its strong points and weaknesses and EV’s are very young and growing technology

You will gain a lot by reading these forums as someone new to EV's and EV trucks (which are very different than cars). Of course you can drive EV trucks on the beach. In fact EV trucks (mine included) have special drive modes for different conditions. SAND MODE is perfect for beach driving in my truck and SNOW MODE (in my R1T) is perfect for winter driving. Where I go in the winter, I sometimes need to rally through deep snow in unplowed areas then dig out a parking space (when conditions are good and I get lucky). Snow doesn't "get into everything" causing problems with melting or freezing. In fact, I would argue that the completely FLAT and armored belly of my truck is better than any ICE truck in these conditions. Lastly, the first EV was built in the 1800's in Scotland, and Porsche's first car was electric in 1898! Gas took over, but EV's aren't new.

I’m here to learn, but I’m also someone with a loudmouth and a knack for pissing people off (not my intention)

Here in Wyoming with 30+ mph winds & blizzards, snow gets into everything. I’ve even had it get past a tightly closed drivers window on a 19 Raptor as we sat stuck in the middle of the road a few blocks from home (not safe to walk home) I’ve had engine compartments packed full of snow & it melted/froze around the running motor

Oh the stories I’ve got about North Dakota winters/blizzards and snow

I’m sure EV’s undercarriage’s are sealed up better than “normal” vehicles and looking forward to learn about how they are in the winter. Sometimes you need to drive on top of snow around here & the heavier a vehicle is it sinks and high centers

A poster above said you were foolish to drive in water, beach….I enjoy beach driving and yes have driven into the ocean at times (then spend a hour or more washing the undercarriage)

I’m just “triggered” about winter as it’s almost here & I need to dig out the winter survival bags & pack the vehicles with extra blankets & such

With the new Scout's only being electric I was hesitant on embracing change. This will be my 1st electric/hybrid vehicle. I think the option of the gas range extender will help with people on the fence converting to all electric. I reserved both the suv and truck with the range extender. Will I change my mind before time to purchase? Maybe, we will see how things come along. Excited either way as the design team nailed it!

Thanks for being open minded. I’ve said to other but follow @R1TVT and @RebelliousPeasant they both have oodles of insight. I changed to a hybrid nearly a year ago and love my transition. It has prepared me for the full EV traveller.
