Scout shows off the UX at CES!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Great video. Learned a few new things. Love the way the UI looks and the thought behind the design. The context specific UI changes/modes seems awesome.

Detox mode is interesting. Possibly something I never thought I needed. Can't wait to see more.

So, what have we learned so far?

Much of this was assumed, or inferred, but I watched this tonight, and thought I'd note some of the things I think we know more concretely than we did before.

  • Harvester control (17:09)
    • Auto, EV, or Max
    • 1736326379308.png
    • User control over remaining state of charge (you can see him slide the target SOC around).
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (19:37)
  • Advanced Driver Assistance (20:55)
    • L2+ mode
    • Different mode that you have to activate, and visually different from cruise control
    • Hands free? He says that a few times.
  • Cameras (14:28)
    • 360 cameras
    • Driver display becomes front bumper camera display when in offroad modes
    • 1736326356121.png
    • Underbody cameras facing forward/backwards
    • 1736326343825.png
  • Confirmation of Harvester location?
    • Shows it in the rear of the terra, somewhere in the vicinity of the rear axle.
    • 1736325979187.png
  • Detox Mode (22:32)
    • Reduces UI to minimal levels.
      • 1736326275162.png
    • Sneakily shows one pedal mode, and maybe something about creeping mode? Also might be showing adjustable suspension with "comfort steering"?
    • 1736326223362.png

Anything else I missed?

Greetings!

Scout head of UX was kind enough to walk us through their interface. The interior is just phenomenal.

Great video, gained a new subscriber here. Looking forward to more content over the next few days. Right there with you, hopefully the cabana roof will be offered on the Terra. Having this with rear windows will be a great combination. We'll see!

Cool breakdown. I've got the same video from another angle posted in our Facebook group for reservation holders. Some clearer shots of the screen sometimes.

Very cool to see confirmation that the software customization by Scout is far deeper than mere "skinning" of the Rivian software stack. Also cool to see how the physical button integration with the screen behaves. The attention to detail, such as aligning the screen pop-up with the location of the button itself, is encouraging. I was worried there would be a confusing disconnect between the physical and virtual (screen) controls, but no more. Very exciting!

Also intrigued by the Harvester controls shown, i.e. EV-only, and the slider for SoC in Auto.

Thanks for sharing this content!

Seems like you covered everything perfectly. I think all these UX/UI information really sealed the deal. I love the detox mode. You have no idea how many times I’ve just wanted to shut off everything when I review certain cars. It’s to bright and in your face all the time. Having everything go into a dark mode with the main information is so welcoming.

Detox mode was my favorite. Very smart, and something no one else has done as far as I know.

Love the underbody camera's, this will be great for the offroad community.

Great work on the video, helped to better confirm the Terra and Traveler features. I’m really excited by the potential of a canvas roof for the Terra. Still going forward with buying both of them, but that helps further enforce why Terra will be my daily driver and Traveler my wive’s. ROMR, you gained another Aggie as a subscriber today!

I like seeing we have driving options of one pedal and etc.

Detox mode seems interesting. But did it have like next turn directions on the instrument cluster or something? It's nice that it's just simple to distance left and distance till next charging station. But I don't want to miss my next turn when it comes up.

Also wonder if driving with destination programmed will audio notifications be available or muted when in detox mode?
Hoping like others for a HUD included which would then show next turn, etc

Very much appreciate this video, and Dre's efforts on the vehicles so far. Clearly, they are trying to do many things, without cluttering the UI. My big complaint on our Tesla is the constant updates (good thing) > new and often mysterious locations for apps / features / functions (bad thing). The buttons along the Community screen appear to not be soft keys, which I think is good, as you want to have muscle memory for where key features are in the UI.
