Camp mode

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I guess the Riv stove is fancy enough to use in your house but for camp purposes I will stick with my propane camp chef blind stove or a Partner steel one. I mostly roll with a off road caravan that had oddles of propane. Induction stoves are a power suck. It would be cool for a tailgater if one doesn't roll with propane.

There was a Japanese-made grill table that I saw not so long ago that would change my mind because it means I could have a grilled meat feast anywhere at any time. 😍 It was pricey, but also very practical and really beautiful and also had nice, clean lines. I’m on Team Charcoal for grilling, but this was a pretty dope grill table. For all I know, this is a horrible stove. I hear good and bad things about Snow Peak (cookware bad, utensils and cups good). I’ve never used any of their stuff.
Would a good ol’ Coleman stove do the same thing for much less? Yes. I’d still like a table for work space, ideally. This is so elegant. 🤤

I thought the harvester doesn't kick on until 150 miles on ev battery?
It HAS a 150 mile range in EV. That means at some point prior to the 150 the generator needs to kick on to stay ahead of the curve, so to speak. If range is 150 and the generator doesn’t kick on until your 150 miles of EV range is used you’d be stranded-in theory -and in likely actuality as well 😀

How and when this happens has been explained about as well as the IRL existence of the Krampus and Batman, though.

Camp mode i like this. The more cool camp stuff they do the better. On the Traveller has anyone noticed how far buried the hitch receiver is under the spare tire and bumper? Do you think the prototypes even have hitch receivers? Just don't want to have to use an extended draw bar receiver when pulling trailer. Nice to have a light that shines down on hitch receiver for hooking up trailer at night.
The prototypes do not have hitches and the production bumpers are likely to be different so they can include the hitch.

Anyone else notice that on the two different screen shots we have in this thread, both show 49% battery, 100% fuel, and 397 (what I'm assuming is miles range).

One image shows Harvester OFF with 1d 23h 59m Battery Time Remaining.

The other image shows Harvester AUTO with 8d 5h 59m Battery Time Remaining.

What does this tell us? I have thoughts. But maybe someone good at mathing the math can extrapolate something more from this?

If the battery is at 49% with 2d remaining, then it could ostensibly power a campsite for 4 days from 100%.

And if the fuel adds another 6.25 days, that tells me that the Harvester fuel tank in the demo vehicle holds enough gas to completely recharge the batteries about 1.6 times.

I'm just mathvomiting and I don't really know what I'm talking about lol.
Here is another clean version of the pic. Definitely shows the Harvester reference so this should be a solid bonus for Harvester reservation holders. Right at the finger-like it’s pointing at it so we’d see it 😀

I'm assuming this is not actual data and just a filler image so I'm not putting too much thought into the metrics here.
My hunch as well. I suspect it’s a preface to info we will get regarding camping modes available with the harvester but guessing the math, as you note is just there to imply the feature-not the specifics. SM hasn’t even shared the engine/generator they are using so the numbers shown have to be hypothetical. For those who camp and overland I hope SM offers more info ASAP to help people/buyers gauge the abilities of the new harvester models

I would really like to see a rooftop tent for the Traveler like the Alu-Cab Icarus, where you can access the interior of the vehicle from the rooftop tent through the cabana roof, or push up the bed in the rooftop tent to be able to comfortable stand inside of the interior of the Traveler. This would be extra great combined with a camp mode auto-leveling feature like what a Rivian can do!

Here's one for those speculating about the harvester...

On this test mule, the battery state of charge is 49% and it hasn't started using the range extender enough to go below 100% in the fuel tank.

I think I see “level” on one of the UI buttons. That would be sweet if this beast would self level for car top tents or sleeping inside the vehicle.

I'd love this too. I'm hoping the roof options will enable some neat after market options. Remove the Cabana Top and add at tent?

Scout people, have you thought about giving Colorado Campervan or SportMobile an early look at what your doing? It could open a wide range of aftermarket coolness early on. Maybe even solicit them for feed back.
