I was having a conversation with a local mechanic last night and he brought up some concerning news with Mercedes. He was talking about how they have a recall on one of their 2019 (or 2020, he couldn't quite remember) with regards to the frame rusting. He witnessed this in his shop and was blown away that a car only 3 YEARS OLD was excessively rusting so rapidly. It sounds like Mercedes is addressing the issue with the recall. I have a hard time understanding how something like this would happen with all the advancements and lessons learned the automobile industry has made in the past century. So with that train of thought, and knowing the rusting stigma associated with the original Scouts, I would again ask Scout Motors to put emphasis on the quality of the build and products being used. Mercedes has a good example here of how saving a buck might not always save a buck. More than anything I just hate the idea of the new Scout getting a bad wrap. Unfortunately there is a balancing act with not making vehicles that can last forever because car companies do need return customers. .....just tip those scales in the positive direction at least so the Scout name continues to stands strong.
