Kim Java reviews Scout Motors Terra and Traveler at CES

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
A few things that she got wrong… it’s 150 on Battery and 350 from the Harvester.

And then is it coming 2027 or 2028? Because she said 2028. And Scott said 2027 if I remember correctly from the holiday video.

Other CES video referenced 27 and beginning of 27. Not sure when 2028 became the new anticipated delivery period?

So at reveal they said two years and now it’s three? Any idea where the extra 12 months came from between now and end of October?
That’s what I thought. Everywhere it has been end of 2026 beginning of 2027. The holiday video, every event leading up to CES even the Scout Motors website says 2027. My guess is maybe testing the engineering and crash testing?

As much as I would hate to drag a man who’s name starts with a J and ends with a E into this… we might have to, to clear this up.

Not once have I heard or read 2026.

Production starting in 2027 is always what I have heard or read. Meaning deliveries could be in 2027 or early 2028.

What I think is happening is some are quoting delivery dates, some are quoting production start and this is where the mix up is happening.

My guess is they're targeting production beginning early/mid 2027 which would put a few trucks into customer hands in 2027 with possible (likely) production slips to late 2027 with deliveries starting in 2028. Either way, I think it will come out as a 2028 model year. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Harvester as a "late availability" option. They've admitted that wasn't part of the original plan so it had to throw a few extra engineering and production wrenches into their original timeline.
As a former program manager, I always have a best case schedule but I never shared/advertised that outside of my team and only with my boss if I had the time to explain all the caveats on why that probably wouldn't happen. I always added 1 or 2 quarters (3-6 months) on any briefs or presentations that were going outside of my organization.
1. Best case almost never happens because there are so many things that can come up. Any outside supplier that has an issue becomes your problem/delay.
2. Always better to deliver early than late. Deliver ahead of the advertised schedule and you're a hero. Deliver later than advertised and now you're doing additional work generating briefs and reports on why you were late.

Not in context that we heard. Was “start of production” but maybe that involves first round testers, etc.
3 years is a long time away
I feel stupid lol. It was always said that late 2026/early2027 would be start of production. Or am i wrong? Its always has been said it would be 2028 model year right? This is really confusing, yet again when a youtube reviewer thinks they know everything because they were around the car for 30 minutes yet they haven’t followed the company for years prior.

Where did you see those? The reservation page says production targeting 2027?

We have been saying 2027 since reveal. There are a lot of moving pieces obviously and we made a pivot to include a range extender which is significant. I would say late 2027 but let’s see how things progress.
For perfect clarity here, I’m double checking.

You mean calendar year 2027, not model year, correct?
