Including the Traveler Harvester?

Thats good to know, as reclaiming that spare tire storage space from the back of the vehicle is great. Turns out 33in tires are quite large :p.

I read somewhere that for Terra with 33s, the spare is under the truck. For 35s, it is in the bed. Would make sense that a Terra with Harvester would have the spare in the bed regardless of size.
I was thinking the same thing, but will likely become more clear when there is a configurator. Thanks.

I’ll assume 35s require the rear carrier as would the Harvester.
Yeah, thats my worry.

I just have limits on OAL to park in my garage. So I'd prefer not to have the spare tire carrier if I can. But given the generator placement, there doesn't seem to be many other options.

I've been wondering this as well.

I keep reading that the Terra will fit a 33in spare tire under the bed. But not if a Harvester Terra will fit 33's under the bed.

And same deal with the Traveler. Will the Traveler offer the spare under the bed, or inside the back trunk area ala my old Jeep Grand Cherokee?

(I have the same year as this photo, but this is just a random jeep from the internet).

My issue is mostly that the parking space I have available for the Traveler is ~204in long from the concrete bollard protecting the hot water heater to the back of the garage. Which means that with the spare carrier on back, I won't be able to park it inside the garage.

So the ~191in OAL for the traveler without the carrier is totally fine. I just... also want a spare tire somewhere :). And if that happens to be under the bed for the Harvester Traveler, awesome, but even as above I'd be ok with it.

Now this has me thinking. Because when I put my pre-order in I'm going to pick the Terra with the Harvester. But I also want the full bed space. Wonder if there will be some kind of above bed rack available. Or something like the tire rack on the Traveler.

Reason is I will want either a bed cover at the least and maybe some kind of bed shell. It there's snow and wet weather here like 8 months of the year and will want to have the bed as covered storage space, especially when taking the whole family out.

Thinking there might have to be some sacrifices made on my part. Not sure which direction to go yet.

They indicated 32’s will be offered so still a decent size rim/rubber and then you know it fits under the truck

I'm actually surprised there is so much interest in the range extender. I get there are some people who would really want/need it - but honestly I think the majority of buyers would be better off with the all-electric version. I'd rather have the simplicity/lower cost/etc. of 100% EV with over 350mi of range. I'm sure I'll get lots of arguments here...but that's OK! Something to discuss for the next three years :ROFLMAO:

Yeah I agree, I think most drivers would probably be fine. I think I would be fine 90% of the time too. But we do drive long distances, my kids hockey season will take us to three or four states in itself. So for those trips. Peace of mind will be worth it. Especially in frigid and sometimes dangerous conditions.

Our family I believe still needs one vehicle that can utilize gasoline (likely PHEV, or EREV, but a minimum of hybrid), for at least the next 5-10 years. The current use case is ~900 miles in one day road trips that happen once or twice a year, through rural ID (which, I presume will be among the last places to get good fast charging infrastructure :p). The speed limits are very high through that area, so it actually is only about ~12hrs of driving. But if we stopped to charge for 30-45min per stop, it adds up, and would add a hotel cost (and another day off of work) to the price of the trip.

I'm currently reserved for a Harvester. But if we find another good EREV option for the "family car" (Toyota Sienna Plug in Hybrid? Ioniq 9 EREV?) that pops up in the interim, we might do that, and I could swap the Scout to a pure EV.

I plan to install a bed rack that places my tent high enough to clear the cab, so my first thought is to hang my spare tire on the underside of that rack toward the front of the bed. Doing so would allow me to run a retractable tonneau cover, as well.

I'd also consider a cap for the bed if Scout or a third party has one available soon after release.

You can make a battery flat, you can make a gas tank flat, but you can't make the range extender itself flat, so there is no doubt you will loose valuable cargo space (or space for other things) with Harvester I would think. And I carry a full sized spare in the R1T (hidden nicely underneath the bed), and I would want a full-sized spare with the Terra. Will be interesting to see if the Harvester deletes a full-sized spare option in the Terra b/c it needs to take away from some space somewhere at the rear of the vehicle (if the frunk is to be left intact). I may have missed that bit of detail, or perhaps it is still TBD.

I will gladly give up space for the Harvester package, forecast is calling for 4-10 inches of snow tonight

I have no idea how efficient EV’s are at heating the cabin over long term. I 80 here has been closed for days and we spent about 14 hours trapped on it in the absolute middle of nowhere with -30 wind chill temps, lots blizzard conditions after 2 semis crashed and blocked the freeway (weather got bad after the crash)

It was not a fun time & thus my desire for the harvester package

I have no problem with the Harvester package at all for anyone that thinks they might need it. Based on my current usage of my R1T with just under 300 miles of range on 20's, I won't need it enough to justify it, and wouldn't want it just to hedge against an edge case or using it a few times a year. That trade-off is not enough for me to give up a pure EV. 350 miles will be excellent for my range needs 99% of the time.

Wait, what? I hadn’t heard this anywhere. So we can have a spare without getting the swing out carrier? I was afraid the only option was no spare (🙀) or using up storage space in the vehicle.

Thanks for the info!

Wow, I hope so. Swing-out carriers are a total PITA. Would love an option to delete but still have a spare, even at some cost of departure angle. It's worth it.

Agreed! I guess for me it depends on how much EV-only range it will have. If it's like 250 miles, then I'm interested in the harvester. If it's more like 150, then I'll go EV-only. Also, I wonder how much this option will add to the cost. I'm guessing it will be a $3000-5000 upgrade, that I'm likely not willing to pay for...

Someone that attended the event mentioned that the Harvester was supposed to be the cheaper option, though I can't remember who it was or find the post...
