Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
We haven't yet.

Retro colors in modern formulations. Some with metallic where the single stage paints didn't often have them. You'll see.

Rust will be a premium add-on. :D

It's all good.
Wait you guys actually took my idea of rust add-on to the paint that i brought up like last year??

Also can’t wait to see the final paints now that it seems it will be using a custom formula.

Please clarify what “modern take on retro colors” means. It sounds like NOT original colors. If so, fine, but I don’t understand the point of having similar to retro colors instead of actual retro colors. Modern paint formulation/ clear coat, sure but why change the color?
Based on modern day paint formulas and bonding it could be possible they can’t replicate exactly. That said I would think getting super close would still work. I think it would be cool to introduce a vintage color (unique from today’s colors) and offer limited edition with modified interiors to package it annually for first 5 years. I also think that schedule of colors should be posted the first day orders open. Would be cool to know now which unique colors be offered each year

I think that’s a great idea. Jeep does that with the special editions that have different trims etc. mine is a 2013 MOAB edition. It got the power dome hood, steel bumpers, MOAB vinyl stickers on either side of the hood and some other things to make it different that year. Then the next year it changed to something else. And so many brands have a first year special edition in addition to the regular ones that are released. I am dying to see the colors. That what I am most looking forward to right now.

My guess is that they will use the original colors as inspiration for the new models. As someone else said most new cars have some metallic in the paint. They could more than likely match the original colors with modern paint. But they have to take into account. How well it looks with the body of the vehicle and if people like the colors and what colors are selling well on similar vehicles. So it’s very likely that we will see a modern twist to the originals.

I agree. Always liked Jeep’s naming of colors-tongue in cheek approach.
I will say I’d prefer the exterior/interior combo as only fixed item. Maybe a wheel color too. I don’t care for having to get $5K in extras just to get a color but I do like how Jeep changes it up.

I saw this a few weeks ago and sent to my daughter since we got rid of her Bronco (per her request and our issues). That said-I’d drive a tuscadero pink Jeep but not this, I’m not a light pink kind of guy-however, my daughter went nuts over this (which surprised me).
This is the kind of play I’d like to see SM do-then let buyers upgrade mechanicals and creature comforts. No interior on this and could be AI for all I know but I just thought this was tastefully pulled off

Im sure the modern formula has to do with the acid wash and prepping used to clean the material that will be used prior to painting. Because back when the original scouts were being made it was probably just sand blasting. Now paint prep for cars is much different, with the technology improving.

And if i remember correctly it was Toyota i believe that found if they negatively charged the paint it would bond more paint to the positively charged panels, allowing for a higher quality finish.

Id love to see them allow buyers to upgrade mechanicals and comforts.

Here’s a good question for you Jamie if you can answer it. Is the Paint shop gonna be automated spray arms? Or will it be like VW with the massive paint bath and acid wash thing? Or will it be a totally custom paint experience?

It would be outrageously expensive but they could do like Porsche does and you could bring in whatever color you like and they match it.

That Jeep pink they brought back last year was amazing. This year it’s the Willy special edition with Army green wheels that match the body. Still all in on yellow, even if they had pink.

The art of painting has taken a futuristic turn with computerized spray systems that can create flawless thickness and coverage on intricate body panels. Quick color change over and cheeper to maintain.
