  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Are the terra measurements still accurate? Seems it falls in between the size of a mid-size and full size truck based on the website measurements, with the length being slightly shorter than a full size tundra.
Yea I’d like to know this, if it’s the same as the Tacoma, I’ll cancel the reservation. I’m all in for a full size or close to it, not looking for a tiny truck again.

Full size is the way to go.

This is great! I think it’s perfect size! Rivian R1S is 82” wide and it looks huge, so this being slightly smaller is perfect. Much easier to navigate narrow forest roads.

Is the spare tire carrier in the back optional?
I was told that the tire carrier is optional by at least 3 Scout design members.

Whew, that sounds more reasonable. Is the tire carrier something that can be removed when you don’t need it?
It is optional. It looked like it could be removed a the hinge. I will try to post some of my pictures soon but there is a cool Scout logo on the top of the hinge pin.

120" wheelbase is right in the sweet spot, IMO. Land Rovers range from 80 - 130" and perhaps Scout Motors will introduce a SWB version of Traveler in the future. For now, the specs are good with me. Wide shoulders seem to extend to or even slightly beyond mirror edges.

The discussion of a SWB was certainly not dead. Scout Motors knows and hears that loud and clear.

Great news. I was never a D90 guy, but you cannot ignore that 88 - 90" segment. They are often using the trucks for more aggressive off-highway travel, whereas I'm a long-distance overland expedition user. Discovery and Defender sat right in that 100" - 110" sweet spot, but for towing, the 120" will offer improved tracking under tow loads. I'm very happy if they stick that landing in the first reserved offerings.

Tire Sizes... is this up for discussion?

I've happily run 31x10.50x15 and 33x12.50x15 (BFG TA KO) and wonder if the 35s might not want a smaller option, and if Scout Motors has already agonized / engineered this to death? There are many reasons to go smaller on the wheels, opening up many more tire options. Would love to hear other's feedback. Scout Traveler looks to be one of the more sizable SUV platforms available, and maybe 33s are simply too small.

No exact specs yet, but there will be smaller options for both wheels and tires.

I'd be surprised if they offer less than a 20" wheel. These big EVs weigh on the order of 6500-7000 lbs and have massive brakes. I believe the Rivian off-road package uses 20s. Not sure about the width though.

You may be correct but I would think the brakes could be smaller because a lot of the braking is regenerative. I hope it can have 17” wheels fit.
