Dimensions

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I was there (forgot my tape measure) and I really think the website may be incorrect. It didn’t seem that big in person. It seemed the be about the size of a Rivian R1S. I’ll see what I can find out.
I think the R1S is way too big so if it really is that size I'm super disappointed.

I couldn't find great confirmation either, so I did the next best thing. Measured it from photos with an object of known size.

The tires on the show vehicle are BFGoodrich 35x12.5R20, which are 12.5" wide.

The outside tire to outside tire width is almost exactly 7 tires. If this estimate is correct, it means the track width is 87.5 inches. I think that it's easily believable that the body width is 4.1 inches greater (2.05 inches on each side), given the fender flare.

I believe the width spec in the diagram on the Scout website is correct for the show vehicle. Whether that will also be true for the production vehicles remains to be seen.

This is just too big for me. I'm used to Tacoma-sized vehicles. I traded the Tacoma for a Lightning and it's been an adjustment. It's too bad because I love almost everything else about the vehicle. Maybe they'll announce a "sport" version of either or both the Terra and Traveler.

Fairly certain the dimensions we show on the website right now are with the sideview mirrors on the concepts. Most manufacturers publish the width minus the side mirrors (because some trucks offer different side mirrors). Also because DOT looks at vehicle width minus mirrors.

I'm getting clarification on all of this and we will update things very soon.

There was chatter at the event that there will eventually be a smaller vehicle but probably 5 year plan-after launch

Found this on another site, no idea if it’s accurate but it’s an inlay of the Traveler with the white outline being a R1S and the smaller vehicle inside is the R2.

I’m very much a visual person so I enjoy seeing stuff like this. The new Traveler is going to be quite commanding on the road! I’ll have to get use to the size haha

79.9” width minus side mirrors.
207.9” overall length with rear tire carrier.
190.9” without the carrier.

Website will be updated soon.
I must have miss-measured by an inch or so on the tire when doing my estimate above. While I wish we would go to skinnier and smaller vehicles overall, at least it's not outrageously wide as the spec sheet claimed.

This is great! I think it’s perfect size! Rivian R1S is 82” wide and it looks huge, so this being slightly smaller is perfect. Much easier to navigate narrow forest roads.

Is the spare tire carrier in the back optional?

This should help everyone and some of those numbers are definitely different so thank you @Jamie@ScoutMotors for clarifying. Even our group at the event thought it wasn’t as big as dims showed

Are the terra measurements still accurate? Seems it falls in between the size of a mid-size and full size truck based on the website measurements, with the length being slightly shorter than a full size tundra.
