Actual pricing

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I hope when it time to place our orders Scout will reference actual prices and not “price after estimated savings” like Tesla does on their website. It’s ok to list savings below the price. Hopefully the tax credits will still apply.🤞

100% agree.

You could/can still get to that on the Tesla website. But its not intuitive at first.

Before rebates they list: "Retail prices starting under $60,000."

I would take that to be near $60K, like $58K to $59.9K.
I agree.

I just think the OP is saying "make it default to the actual price" when you're configuring it, rather than "pre-applying" the incentives that you may/may not be able to take advantage of like Tesla has historically done.

Considering the incoming administration will end all tax credits there probably doesn’t even need to be considered at this time. Not a political argument-just what news is reporting
Yeah it does seem very likely that they will be going away. Hopefully they can still come in at the expected price.

That doesn't really imply what the other guy thinks it does.

All I think it means, is that they consider "under" $60K is a reasonable starting price, even if incentives disappear and don't lower it.

If you look at what else is available (Like Rivian), at $60K Scout seem to have a very competitive offering.

IMO, there is ZERO chance that they drop prices to $50K-$53K if incentives disappear.

What is that supposed to mean?
If you go to Tesla's website, https://www.tesla.com/modely/design#overview for example, you will see the pricing depending on the Cash/Lease/Finance tab.

Did you notice the 'Include est incentives..' or 'Include est gas savings' checkbox below? Unclick that. Notice the price jump? Yea, thats your *actual* cost you pay. Or maybe it isnt. You need to click on the Edit Terms/Savings link below to actually see real numbers.

I believe this is what OP means by 'reference actual prices'.

This is exactly what I thought they were talking about.

Not if they can hit a specific price point or not. But how it’s displayed.

So the request was to be transparent/up front with the actual cost, not hiding it like Tesla does.

If the typical battery packs are costing -say $15K and pricing can drop by 50% as the Gold/Sachs article reads right there is the $7500 tax incentive that will most likely be gone. That said G/S is correct in their thinking as the article reads where EV will be nearly even to ICE

That article is out to lunch.

Packs the size of the ones for Scout will be a lot more than $15K, and they aren't dropping fast enough to matter before debut. Most pack price drops are based on LFP packs that Scout won't be using to hit 350 miles of range.

I hope its not. I read https://aukehoekstra.substack.com/p/batteries-how-cheap-can-they-get 6mo ago and it makes some interesting arguments. It's not the same, but I've been watching RV batteries for a while. I bought 2x Weize 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries in Nov 2022 for $320/ea and they were the cheapest ones around. Exact same one I bought is now $200. Thats 37% in 2yrs. And there's some that are $150 now.

In general, battery tech is moving forward. It's tech. This feels like the CPU wars of the late 90s-early 2000s. Moore's law type stuff. We're hitting an inflection point (EVs yes, but energy storage in general) where its all really accelerating. And when it accelerates, prices fall.
