What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Trick tailgate is a must for me. The Terra should have a tailgate that swings out in some fashion as well as dropping in the conventional way like the Honda Ridgeline. We have a 2020 Ram Laramie with the multi-function tailgate, rear fold out step and a box cap. This works great for us. Our truck has a front bench seat and a good combination of tactile controls with the 8" screen. The soon to be released Ramcharger may be the Terra's biggest competitor.
Agree: Have a Ridgeline currently and the swing out tailgate is really a great feature. I've often wondered why others didn't copy much earlier given how long thats been around.

Reliability: I don’t want to be making more trips for service than are necessary. For all the comparisons being made to Rivian, I don’t want it to be like Rivian or Tesla or Volkswagon in that regard. I want it to be like my Toyota, where I’m amazed at how infrequently things go wrong with it compared to the American-made cars I’ve had in my life. I maintain my cars the way they’re supposed to be maintained. I’m not neglectful. I expect something I’m putting 50 grand into to act like a $50K car and not crap out, have panels fall out, have electrical problems, engine problems, battery problems, etc. I want it to be Japanese-made solid.
I do like that VW is partnering with Rivian on the electrical architecture though. Car reliability overall has decreased each year for the last 3 years. The lead culprit is electronics. Cars today can have on average anywhere from 70 - 150 ECU's. The new Rivian architecture has 7. No doubt they will be doing this in the scouts. Great call for improved reliability! I think they are taking it seriously because they didn't fork over $5 plus billion to Rivian for nothin'

The most comfortable seats for long term driving i drive 300 to 500 miles a day. Have back problems, need seats that are comfortable and will hold up to a heavy driver. 6'3" 250 pounds.

4 cyder diesel generator option for even better mileage would be great.

I have read some threads that touch on this subject....however, I want to see a user selected LOW Range gear ratio. I use my trucks for hunting and scouting, which takes me places where low range 4x4, tire chains and aggressive tires are a necessity. A 'goat mode' or other torque converting gimmicks won't work, which is why I have shied away from EV's. I'm on the board for the Harvester option for some of the same reasons.

Also, a model without the moon roof would be a welcome addition.

Three roof options are confirmed. All metal, the glass moon roof, and the cabana opening top. So your last request there is coming true as far as we know at this point.

The bit about 4 low, is highly unlikely to happen. This is because EV’s typically only have one speed/one gear.

EV motors also have full torque available from 0 rpm. And having the harvester option doesn’t change that (the gas engine doesn’t mechanically drive the wheels at all).

I personally think there is a use case for a two speed transmission in off-road EV’s. Because while electric motors do have their max torque available at any rpm… the current draws needed for big burly off-road moves are high, and still drain the battery.

Case in point, the Rivian R1S that did the rubicon trail, used something like 85% of their charge, covering 12 miles of the rubicon trail.

That said, I think it is extremely unlikely that we will see a 2 speed transmission/low speed transfer case on the scout. There are only 2 production EV’s that have 2 speed transmissions, with one more supposed to be released in the near future. Jeep apparently is working on a 2 speed transmission for its EV’s, but no word on an actual product with it yet.

Couldn't choose 1, so here are all the ideas I could come up with:

1. Open or drop the rear window similar to the Bronco, Land Cruiser, or 4Runner. Ideally like the idea of a 4Runner style window. I know the Terra has it but would love it on the Traveler too, even if it goes up like the Land Cruiser.
2. Mobile App where I can send a destination via the App to the Scout, and set the temperature of the car, please have Siri or Google Assistant shortcuts, and widgets!
3. Easy Access mode, seat is set to easy access, and the car if possible drops on its suspension for my shorter SO to easily get in
4. Voice Control for simple interior changes (eg. Set Driver Temp to XX degrees, etc.)
5. Weird one but I use my car as a chase car occasionally to record footage for car rollers, would be cool if we could use the cameras on the car for similar things (wild idea and very niche)
6. Active Noise Cancelling for any unwanted noise in the car, especially for someone like myself who loves the open roof which I will use all the time
7. Under seat storage in the front and rear seats? (Would be a great place for hidden storage (helpful for me to put some golf equipment and other equipment I like to keep with me at all times) [Takes the gear tunnel and makes more like a gear trunk]
8. Not sure if this is a thing already, so apologies if it is, but puddle lights are incredibly helpful
9. Are you also possibly using the Harvester heat as an additional heat source for the battery for fast charge, cause that would be brilliant!
10. Extended CarPlay support would be incredible, I love my CarPlay and with SharePlay my SO and I can do the DJing thing together, but love what you folks are doing too.
11. Speakers on the seats, maybe tweeters there would be good, but also if I am taking a phone call I only get the pumped phone call audio but SO can keep listening to music. In addition would be cool if every passenger could control the volume of the music in their "area" I know in long road trips some folks wanna rock out but others are less interested and just want to chill out. (Maybe via the app so passengers can connect to the car's wifi and control their area? Kind of a radical idea, but what the hell why not share)
12. A scout social maps app that syncs with the Scout to share routes with each other and/or talk about diff charging stations, maybe even share playlists, tell each other about traffic, Scout meetups, idk.
13. TimeLapse for a long trip via front facing camera
14. Please give us the option to control how much of the safety features we can have, like the bongs for speed limits, lane drifting. I would much prefer a warning on the HUD or my seat/steering vibrate to get my attention instead of the bongs also getting my SO's attention, if you must keep the bongs then have the option to keep them quieter
15. Storage for some basic camping/daily usable equipment, like a flashlight or umbrella, sorry if this seems like a steal from Rivian and Rolls Royce but it is a great idea
16. A door that has a nice click when closing. GWagons have them old Range Rovers had them I would imagine the older Scouts did too so maybe might be a nice call back touch
17. 2 Diff horns, 1 is a louder attention grabbing, the other is a more polite horn.
18. When I do tailgating would love to have an audio mode that directs audio such that it plays with an outdoor audio focus
19. Fun locking and unlocking noises, not like the other T named electric car company, but I like the Rivian idea of an owl or a bird.
20. Interesting idea would be a camera for the backseats so I can watch my kids, could be nice to have that on my HUD
21. With the Community interface, would love a mode where I can pull all the map data to my HUD and leave my SO with the Music and other important items on the central screen. I like having it front and center and gives my SO more screen real estate for other things
22. Short people friendly seating positions especially when driving, my SO is 4' 11" and the amount of cars that don't care for folks under 5' 2" is criminal so please make the car short people friendly. For contrast I am 5' 10" so the 1 foot difference is pretty stark.
23. Color changing fog lights to like the yellow would be helpful, it gives the car a more fun appearance
24. VW group has some of the best lighting in the biz so would love some of that projection lighting that Audi and Porsche are using on their cars
25. Live camera interior and exterior via App
26. Be able to cycle through settings via my steering wheel controls, using a touch screen to change settings while driving is impossible so if I can also pull that to the HUD and change via my steering wheel controls that would be wayyy more helpful
27. Manual control of battery conditioning if I am going to a fast charger but don't need the turn by turn navigation (feel like this should be a normal thing in all evs)
28. Lights in the frunk and trunk area, can not stand opening those in the night and not seeing a damn thing
29. When starting up the car, the audio is set to a predefined volume so that I don't get blasted with audio at 5 am because last night I was rocking out
30. For the sun visor, a larger mirror is always great, feel like the real estate on those are never properly utilized, additionally a place to keep my registration and insurance info via a clip would be handy, and if possible a hidden part you can pull down that is slightly tinted such that when you pull it, it adds like 1-3" of tinted clear plastic for those times where the visor can't cover the sun, both passenger and driver.
31. Reprogramming an Aux button or a button on the steering wheel to open my garage door
32. Digital rearview would be incredible
33. As much as I like a digital key, I absolutely would love both a fob that I can keep on my hip, and a fob I can wear, a la a wrist band with a RFID tag on it, in this thread folks have talked about a num pad, which is also brilliant.
34. All seats (Front and Back) ventilated and heated plllleeeeeaaaaasssseeeeeeeee
35. Rain sensor wipers and no need for those complex washer in the rain wiper arms, they are too complicated to fix if broken, but spraying from the roof down is a good idea especially for those who are gonna be driving with their roof open. No need to accidentally spray my rear passengers.
36. Sliding degree of one-pedal driving and full coasting, in fact if I can have that as a programmable button that would be helpful. On the highway I love to coast when I am going at the flow of traffic, but when I am in the city, one pedal driving is phenomenal.
37. Ability to turn on and off features at will, can imagine some folks would love a crazy amount of creature comforts others want simplicity, so a primary list of features that you want to have and don't which can be controlled by the user.
38. Adaptive Cruise Controls, especially for stop and go traffic or those long drives that are just straight roads!
39. Night vision driving for those suuuuper dark nights.
40. Extremely Wide Opening Doors like 90+ degrees
41. A normal cigarette lighter, comes in handy for some tools I use.
42. Under thigh support is absolutely amazing on long drives and just feels fantastic.
43. Other folks have mentioned it, but for the bench seating, being able to drop all the seats forward would be incredible for that in car camping experience.
44. Wish more cars would have this but BRING BACK THE RAIN GUTTERS!

Other feedback:
1. Saw some YT videos about the camera under the car, please keep that
2. Bench Seats are awesome, but I am curious if there is like a shelf or somewhere we can put our phones or drinks while driving?
3. Love the satellite internet, the dream is to take my Friday meetings by the beach with my Scout.
4. Love the open roof, but I am concerned about sound leakage and heat/cool leakage, don't know how to address that. I suppose the glass roof that also opens up above the driver seat would be incredible. Coupled with a sliding rear window and there would be an awesome breeze through the cabin.
5. Dog friendly trunk area, noticed some railing type stuff on the ground in YT videos, but like a softer, cushioned carpet over that, would be incredible for my pups feet
6. Please keep that above head led lighting even for us folks who choose to do the cloth top, love it as a light ambient glow.
7. Weird idea but if that center screen could move back and forth between the passenger and the middle that would be helpful, as it makes the experience for the passenger easier to input items
8. Manually serviceable by the user, would love to do my own oil changes, brake fluid changes, etc.
9. Would love interior vegan leather or other sustainable material options.

This was a ton and I am sure folks here will have expanding ideas from this, so completely fine with folks building off the idea. I have a ton of ideas that I am willing to work with you folks (Scout and the community alike), don't mind brainstorming more just feel free to DM me.

Led lights under the truck for use of lighting up camp while in camp mode or a conduction speaker in the tailgate it would keep battery usage down but allow foe entertainment.
Ooo this is a better idea than the puddle lights, make the under carriage glow at specific spots. Love it.

I mean, this is definitely correct. But it really depends on when your frame of reference is.

I was curious. Turns out, $20k in 1989 is the same as $50k today.

And $250k in ~1982-1983 is ~$850k today.
And for the 1960's-1980 when Scout was built.... the inflation numbers are scary too...

$20,000 in 1960 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $55,675.68 in 1980, an increase of $35,675.68 over 20 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 5.25% per year between 1960 and 1980, producing a cumulative price increase of 178.38%.

The inflation rate in 1960 was 1.72%. The inflation rate in 1980 was 13.50%. The 1980 inflation rate is higher compared to the average inflation rate of 3.03% per year between 1980 and 2025.

$20,000 in 1975 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $40,000 in 1985, an increase of $20,000.00 over 10 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 7.18% per year between 1975 and 1985, producing a cumulative price increase of 100.00%.

Predicted inflation?

Avg Automobile price Dec 2024- $49,740
Anticipted price of Scout EV-$60,000

$49,740 in 2024
is equivalent in purchasing power to about $54,714.49 in 2028, an increase of $4,974.49 over 4 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 2.41% per year between 2024 and 2028, producing a cumulative price increase of 10.00%. The buying power of $49,740 in 2024 is predicted to be equivalent to $54,714.49 in 2028.

$60,000 in 2024
is equivalent in purchasing power to about $66,000.59 in 2028, an increase of $6,000.59 over 4 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 2.41% per year between 2024 and 2028, producing a cumulative price increase of 10.00%. The buying power of $60,000 in 2024 is predicted to be equivalent to $66,000.59 in 2028.

Well only time will tell. Hopefully inflation pisses off over the next couple of years. Best thing to do is to be positive, not negative. If you think negatively only negative things will happen.

A predicted annual inflation rate of 2.41% is positive.....lol!
Its better than these numbers lol.

  • 2020: 1.2% annual average inflation rate
  • 2021: 4.7% annual average inflation rate
  • 2022: 8.0% annual average inflation rate
  • 2023: 4.1% annual average inflation rate
  • January 2024: 3.1% inflation rate
  • February 2024: 3.2% inflation rate
  • December 2023: 3.4% inflation rate
  • End of 2024: 2.9% inflation rate

Ability to leave the key in the car and lock it. When out in the woods, I can't be carrying my key around as it might get wet/los Need to be able to leave it in the car and unlock via key pad i.e. ford's solution. Or lock the key in sometype of lock box on the outside of the car. Range Rovers solutinon with the activity wrist band would not be ideal but still better than noting.

Remote windows up or down. Had a 2003 Audi that did up and down with the key door lock..that would be better than nothing

An option for electrochromic smart glass to replace the visors for the top of the windshield and top of the side door glass; 4 controlled areas from the driver's side (driver/passenger windshield/door glass) and passenger areas controlled by the passenger (rear passenger controls would be a nice option). Additionally, having the ability to make all windows opaque when the vehicle is parked and locked would be a nice anti-theft feature. It would also help protect the interior from UV and keep it a bit cooler when parked in direct sunlight.
