What are you driving until release?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I daily a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee (4.0L straight six) with a 3in lift and 31’s. I bought it used 16 years ago, and it was my/my wife’s sole vehicle until about 6 years ago.

Well “daily” is a bit of a stretch lately. Between working from home, and some repairs that have taken me longer than needed (radiator), it’s not been driven tons in the last year. It’s currently getting a leaky transmission fixed, and needs new tires. And with that it should be road worthy for another while longer. Hoping that it will make it until the scouts start shipping.

About 2 years ago we picked up a 2022 Hyundai Tucson PHEV that we’ve been loving. It replaced a 2005 Mazda 6 wagon that was nothing but problems (stranded us twice on family trips, 2 fuel pumps, motor mounts, throttle body, valve cover gaskets, main seals, control arms, wheel bearings, o2 sensors, etc). Even doing all the work myself the costs added up, and it just wasn’t reliable.

The Tucson PHEV is what opened our eyes to what driving an electric vehicle could be, and my wife in particular went from not wanting to have an EV, to being really open to one.

The Traveler harvester I reserved I hope replaces the ZJ for me. Big enough to take 5-6 people and their stuff snowshoeing, mountain biking or whatever, and capable of driving through whatever obstacles and weather gets in its way.

Maybe get a used ID.4? Since they will be on the same platform, you might well get a feel of it. Also, a 2-3 years ID4 will be well depreciated already. Saying this as an ID4 owner. :ROFLMAO:
I’m in an 18M Ariya lease now, as I needed something cheap to get me by for a while. I do need a truck though, so I’ll have to bite the bullet and buy something next year or lease, but unfortunately it won’t be electric.

I’m in a hard spot I think compared to most others, but I feel I should get something reasonably priced slightly used or lease so I don’t have a difficult time selling at a huge lose when it does come time to get the scout.

Just wanted to point out that the Scout platform is a brand-new platform and isn't shared with anything else in the VW Group. The scout is a full body on frame platform - you can put a lift kit on it if you want. The ID4 is a unibody platform.

I am in a short term Nissan lease and was going to buy a tundra fall 2025. However, now with my reservation on a Terra, I am no longer going for the tundra and I’ll have to lease something for three years while I wait for the terra and hope timing works out.

What is everyone driving and what is everyone’s plans for the next few years?
I was one of the early adopters for the Mustang Mach-E, so this will be my second go-around with an EV. This will be my second experience ordering a vehicle sight unseen other than pictures online. It would be really cool to see some production-level examples of vehicle options before making your order, but I'm not counting on it.

It's not based on the same skateboard platform? You can call ID4 unibody but literally it's a body mounted onto the skateboard. I know scout has a frame, but I thought it's battery and management system is same as ID4. At least that's all the journalists are saying

Have you thought about Ford Maverick? I have 2, and AWD and a hybrid. It has even more payload rating than my 13 f150

MEB/MEB+ is a different architecture. We will be able to talk more details down the road.

Oh yes, I just recalled that when I watch the 46 minutes full version of the launch event it did say the new Scout will be 800 volt system instead of 400 volt like MEB. If the REEV Harvester would also be 800V system, that'll be awesome. A lot faster charging than 400V system
