[Traveler] Trim that maximizes range and utility

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Basically a mall crawler. And that is coming from someone who drives a Land Cruiser.

We love off-roading. Have two reservations: one Terra and one Traveler. Terra is for off-road. I would like to have the Traveler to have a trim that excels in the city.

Mall crawlers / pure city drivers are a large crowd. We would like to win them over. Have a Traveler trim that has:
    - Road / All season tires (maximize range)
    - Rear wheel drive (maximize range)
    - Optional foldable third row (maximize utility, win families over)

There will be no three row in the traveller as I heard at reveal. They are leaving option to offer a larger model down the road

Well I hear you mate. But this is for the occasional day when you have friends or family visiting and you need to accommodate a couple more persons in the car. Doesn't have to be spacious.

Considering that VW fits a third row into a Tiguan (which once made the difference between renting one vs two cars for us) with 185 length and 110" wheelbase, I'm sure it can be fitted into the below: 🙂

I’m sure it can fit. Having seen it at the reveal there is plenty of room. But from a sales perspective they want this as a two row. The bench seat option is their way of getting 6 passengers. We have a pilot and have had multiple Acura MDX’s and maybe three times a year-at most, did we ever use the third row.
Not saying it can’t, just saying as of now they aren’t choosing to so they can position a larger three row (travelall) above this and as battery tech improves and company succeeds they can design a smaller (scout II/800 version) with hopefully a 2/4 door combo and maybe an open top

Well then there's hope! :) One of our vehicles is an overlanding truck with a popup camper (reserved Terra to replace it). The other one has to have a third row. Currently driving a Land Cruiser, Traveler with a third row would fit the bill perfectly. I guess I'll hold on to my Traveler reservation until we have that option.

If you can afford a 60-80k EV, should be able to get them another vehicle or Uber.
