Terra - Roof Top Option

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

The glass roof top option looked amazing! Curious if anyone has seen or heard if the cabana top will also be an option on the Terra? That would be my choice if given the option.

I feel like I heard someone say that. I assume the roof hole is same size for glass or canvass so theoretically it should be viable? I thought the openings looked similar in size-what did you think @Harris005 ?

VW is REALLY GOOD with the split panoramic sunroofs. They are quiet, open and shut smoothly and, in my experience, NEVER LEAK. Having come from years of Land Rovers, which had decidedly undersized and leaky sunroofs, I'd love to see a VW Atlas / Touareg (my current ride) styled glass option. Must open!

Agree on size, but don't know what is needed for the mechanics of the cabana?? The Traveler had more room behind the opening to potentially accommodate it. I do hope it can be an option in the Terra!

I agree with you on the atlas roof being cool option for truck. However, if they can’t make it like the VW roof then in my opinion I would want it to be solid glass as in the prototype. I heard back glass comes down in back like normal doors. I used to love this option in the tundras that I owned. So I hope they keep it. I hope they can deliver on all items and in price range stated. I have the all electric option for my reservation.

One of the videos I watched of the reveal event stated that the Cabana top option was unlikely in the Terra. I’m assuming due to limited space for mechanicals. The prototype shows a solid glass roof, but I hope the production model has the option to open the glass.

Fixed big glass moonroof like that, is my favorite roof option. It creates all the feeling of openness, without anything to leak, or add wind noise, and no motors to fail. If you want more open air drop the windows and the rear window, and you will get all the air you want.

The only thing I would want to add is some kind of shade, even it meant you couldn't extend the glass as far back.

Here is the Ioniq 5 sunshade in action. But a simple manual slide would be ideal (again less to go wrong).
