SUV Reveal questions-pregame

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Isn't that dash just a Scout II? Like I think their just trying to hint towards it's shape being similar and taking inspiration from the Scout II. Just like the lines across the body of the Scout II in the other image
Correct, those are just style lines for benchmarking. Rest assured it will have all the modern conveniences.

While I can appreciate the looks of the drawing - I can only assume that the actual version will have some sort of display in the dash. I guess they can do hands free telephone - not seeing how any navigation will be easy without a display - but I guess some minimal navigation could be in the instrument cluster - but that is certainly not what the illustration indicates, it sure looks analog. Perhaps there are enough purists to make sales without ANY modern convinces - but it will be a hard sell for many. EV's and tech seem to go hand in hand... Honestly, that dash looks like it would be perfectly fit with an original Scout. Only thing I actually see missing is an ashtray.

In all fairness - if they really wanted to hide some hard core tech, it could have a HUD. But given the complete absence of buttons, even on the steering wheel - it would have to be voice controlled.

The lack of AC vents is also "disturbing" - heater vents only? That is pushing traditional a bit far - I am in Texas, I have not ridden in a vehicle made without AC since the early 70's.
The drawing is not the new scout, we won’t see that until Thursday. The drawing is a traditional scout with orange lines giving the slightest hint of the design of the new one. I’m sure the new one will have AC, a screen and plenty of buttons/knobs/dials.

Making a last call request for questions and or pics you want us to try and get. It was confirmed some of the design team will hang directly with us so any other question requests are encouraged. @LastDayScout will be there too and is onboard to get all the info we can for the forum group.
A request... since one of the things these older trucks excelled at was the great visibility from inside to outside, I would love some good pics of what it looks like if you are in the driver's seat looking out the front and sides as well as what it looks like if you're a backseat passenger (possibly taken from kid height) looking out the side windows.

Too many modern cars are like being in a cave, I think the essence and charm of our IH are that you really felt connected to outside.

I’ll do my best. I’m not sure we will be able to get in them but I’ll grab best angles a can

If the designs turn out to be ugly, my mom wants a photo of the moment a tomato or clod of mud hits whoever green-lit the designs on them.

Hee hee

I would really love to know if the seats fold flat in the Travler.
I put in my reservation before he quit talking. I have been silently wait since it was announced 2 years ago. Applying to jobs with Scout ect. I am a quiet fan until the said harvester then the hubby and I screamed. This is so exciting the range the comfort ahhhhh. I own a MachE now I have an R2 reservation I am hoping this is si.ilarly sized I would prefer it not be Suburban size.

Funny, I asked Jamie that toward end of night. He didn’t 100% confirm but said that was the goal and with the low battery pack it should be flat but still a “concept…”

The current dimensions are on the website, it's pretty close to the size of a Tahoe. So shorter than a suburban but pretty close to as tall and as wide.

Very comparable in size to Tahoe but the proportions and cut rear roof help make it look smaller in the best way possible. You can see how large /deep cargo hold is behind second row. I think the high belt line helps proportions to visually look smaller

Yes, they definitely don't look as large as they are. Having only two rows of seats in the Traveler leaves the cargo area open. The Terra is on par with other half ton pickups, which is great, but still a large vehicle.

"Looking smaller" than they are is great for aesthetics but the reality of garages and parking lots only cares about actual size. My standard 2 car garage has an opening 16'/192" wide. If the posted dimensions are correct and the Traveler is 91.6" wide, then 2 will not fit in a 2-car garage. Even if you brush each side pulling in, there would only be 10.8" between the vehicles so you couldn't open the doors.
91.6" wide is way too f'n wide.

We will have to wait and see, but that 91 is probably including mirrors. So the body is probably 8-10 inches less.
Either way, based on the dimensions posted, these are full size vehicles. Think Tahoe, Expedition or Silverado, F150.

@Jamie@ScoutMotors clarified earlier that the 208” is with the rear carrier. That puts it just a hair smaller than a Honda pilot which is 200”. Seeing the spare in person I’d say it projects about 16-18” beyond hatch so maybe 10” beyond the rear bumper

Jamie also stated in the “Dimensions” thread that the website width is incorrect. Actual width without mirrors is 79.9”. Don’t know how 91.6” got listed but my size concerns are assuaged.

The mirrors don’t look like they stick out in the dimension drawing because it uses perspective but the mirrors do project out

The 91.6 in measurement might be the correct width with the mirrors.

For comparison
The Rivian R1S is 82 in wide with mirrors folded. 79 in without mirrors and 87.1 in with mirrors extended
Bronco Raptor is 86.9 in with mirrors and 85.7 in without
Hummer EV is 86.5 in without mirrors and 93.7 in with
