Please put extender in back and give biggest frunk possible!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Curious - is this standard practice for the PNW? In the NE, its pretty much frowned-upon everywhere to rip around on our trails when it's actively raining and when single track is vulnerable. We have been in a major drought here for the last year, so not much rain to speak of though.
Yep, this is definitely standard practice in the PNW like Logan explained. It does not destroy the trails. If riding was a no-go in the wet, there wouldn’t be much riding at all.

Yes, this is the nice thing about the R1T gear tunnel. I use that tunnel (and the seat for this purpose) all the time. And for putting on ski boots.
Good point! I often forget about the gear tunnel. Same concept and works great I’d imagine. A seat to sit down on and an out-of-the-interior-safe-for-wet/muddy-items storage area would be excellent to have.

I’ve lived this very situation many, many times in my life. I get it and I completely agree with you. I never want all of that nasty gear inside if I can avoid it. Less clean-up is always better so being able to avoid spreading it into the interior would be great. Thanks for bringing this to life with pictures for those who haven’t lived it.

Thats sort of why I wanted to post this. Having lived here for a while, its a big part of my life right now. But I have also lived other places where this would have been a completely foreign idea. So was trying to convey the "scope" of what it looks like, and why I remain interested in something with a frunk.

Last one, I promise. This is from the dirtiest ride I can remember going on, a few years back. This was the ride that made me realize that "I need a full change of clothes, and a trash bag to hold all the dirty stuff on every ride, or the ride back and cleanup after is horrendous ".

Now I'll promise to be nice, and stop posting dirty pictures ;).

I either dump trashed clothing from any number of activities (or kids activities) into a bin or directly into the bed. The gear tunnel has a removable rubber floor mat that spans the length of the tunnel and is easily removed too, so you can just throw stuff in it, then pull out the rubber mat and spray it down. Its pretty nice. It also holds 2 stinky lacrosse or hockey bags nicely.

I did not know about the removable mat in the gear tunnel, thanks for mentioning it! Makes a lot of sense, I’d definitely make use of something like that. Anything to make clean-up easier and faster is a win in my book.

That was exhilarating to watch, but yikes, that trail was shot to shit. That is not something that I, a person out of practice and of questionable balance, would want to hit up. Concur that having an easily-cleaned place for the caked-on mud and blood (ask me about my 100% organic earth-borne knee tattoos) and whatever other tragedies are borne of thinking “this is the day I give clipless pedals another try!” is clutch.
Aahh! Day one of clipless pedals. I remember those days. My riding buddy remembers it more 🤣

I sometimes carry tools to work and that often means having them on semi-on-display for short periods in my hatchback. The funk is going to be awesome for this!
I agree. The new era tool box! However, I would still hope to see some compartments to shove things in so they are not always rolling around in the frunk. Examples: straps, chains, basic tools.

It might be cool if the seat that slides out of the frunk had a tri-fold function. Basically it could spread its wings and make a table across the front.

Isn't there a compartment under the "seat" that slides out?

Or are you just meaning "more" compartments?

That could be neato as well.

Yes, there is another storage well under the seat that has a drain.
Think of the tub as a cooler and the seat is the lid. The lid slides out to allow seating with dangling legs clearing the front bumper. Thats what we were told at reveal but I never saw it demo’s-maybe one of the other guys that went saw it or have pics

I actually really, really like the idea of a frunk.

I think it's obviously a game changer in the truck, as trucks otherwise are usually quite lacking in the useable storage space for everyday items department. For instance, if you are picking up groceries, and the cab is mostly full of people? Thats usually a pretty rough situation for a truck. But the frunk would help immensely with that.

I'm actually thrilled to think about having one like shown in the SUV as well. I'm an avid mountain biker, and like most mountain bikers, the bike is on the vehicle with a bike rack out back. Which means that the main storage area of the vehicle, isn't usually easily accessible. Which means you end up tossing all your gear in the back seat, or passenger seat, and trying not to get all the mud/whatever all over the seats/doors/etc.

The frunk will let me have a place to sit to change out of my dirty gear, and keep it out of the main passenger compartment. Keeps the inside less "gym bag" and also cleaner. Thats a win/win in my book.
I agree. I can relate, I carry two-three bags to work each day, backpack, lunch, and gym bag and always stick in the rear of the cargo space of the Bronco but gets tossed in the front seat of the Tacoma because the bed is always occupied. I always feel as it my car is cluttered with bags, more so in the Tacoma. The idea of the frunk excites me because I can keep out of sight, out of mind. I'm hoping the Frunk has drain plugs for similar reasons you mentioned, I can toss in my climbing gear and muddy boots and give a quick rinse when needed. I brought up the idea of a small reservoir to hold water, although aftermarket could solve this too.

Yes there is a compartment under the seat. It has the ability to used as a cooler with a drain. I would look to keep it fairly clean, but could use it for some things in-between tailgating 🍻 . I was primarily looking for more compartments to store away those things that stay in the frunk.
