  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Very cool. I love the top left corner
Sheet list date built: and under it says SOBER. Speaks highly of the guys building Scouts back in the day 😀
I noticed that too. I live in birmingham alabama and my scout was parked downtown and the Grandson of the International Scout guy was in town on holiday. He wrote me a note and put it on my scout and said "im interested in your Scout, Im the Grandson of IH and I want to buy your scout. If you dont sell it to me, I can at least provide you your line ticket" so so cool. I wish I had sold it to him in hindsight now.

That’s awesome. Thanks for sharing

SOBER (Howard Sober Trucking... still in business) was the trucking company that hauled the Scout from the factory to the dealer.

This is a Custom trim level 800A, hence the 'DOLL-UP" notation and 16023.9617 code. A top line build!

The 729PL paint is the Plum Metallic.. a very unusual color that I hope you will keep, or return to the Scout, during a resto. Just because you NEVER see survivors in that color. Very '70s! Would be a crowd pleaser for sure!

The LST you have is the one the dealer included in the owner's packet. The Wisconsin Historical Society has microfiche copies of the LST that followed the Scout down the line. You can order a copy. It has all the worker and inspector sign-offs, as well the date it was roll tested (last spot on the line) and the final inspection (which could be the same day or some time later depending on if the Scout had backordered parts, problems that needed o be fixed or if exited the line just before a holiday or a weekend and the final was delayed.)

The build month and year will be on the Federal sticker in the door jam and it will be December of 1968 (I predict mid-late December), so it's a fairly early build.

If you have specific questions related to the LST, I can probably answer them. Happy to!
