Keep the ol' Scout Too?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

So you heritage Scout (and other brands) owners, will you keep it when you get your new Scout? I'm thinking this is the best solution. Buy a very capable, comfortable new Scout for around town and moderate family off-road. But keep the old Scout for the more aggressive, narrow, overgrown, rocky trails where the abuse happens? But it sounds like that's where the new Scouts will excel!

Maybe I'm over thinking this, but I pucker up just a little thinking about hopping up a narrow, rough section of trail in a $70,000 vehicle.

I guess I have a couple of years to think this through.

Great question! I hear ya. I’d love to keep my current ride and get the Scout. Finances will be the big barrier determining whether that’s possible or not because I’m not willing to carry a huge truck payment. Either way if the Scout ends up being enticing enough and pricing is low enough for me to get myself into one, I promise I will not be able to keep it on pavement. It would be painful to not get it out there and do the things it was designed to do. I’d do my best to keep it away from damage and pinstripes of course, but at the same time any unintentional damage received on a trail is kind of like a badge of honor in a way. Long story short, my Scout would see trails and adventures either way. :ROFLMAO:

I hear ya. I think that will end up being me too. I guess it's like anything, meant to be enjoyed. IT's JUST SO PRETTY!

Depends in part on final pricing for me - I love my 2010 JKU Rubicon and really don't want to get rid of it - if end pricing for the vehicles as shown (35's, nice interior, etc.) ends up in the $60K range after incentives/tax credits I can probably keep the Jeep - but if it ends up more in the $75-80K range it will be a stretch (mentally, I grew up in the 80's so price of current vehicles just seems insane to me in general).

Nicely set up and not a scratch! Impressive!

We have 2 daily drivers and 2 classics for analog enthusiast feels. A new Scout would simply be replacing one of those daily drivers. I honestly can't imagine someone trading their old Scout for a new one as a classic serves a completely different purpose.
Yeah. I've just got to figure out how to take them both on my outings. Seriously though, I won't be selling the old Oil Burner Binder.
