Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Ya 41k is laughable.
yeah, especially when they keep comparing it to the Mini Cooper Ev in every picture of comparison and when asked. The Mini electric 2 door only costs 31k and the gas option cost 28k. now yes I'm sure it's due to the small production that it will be and that they are ground up, with small funds.

They can go F themselves. Vultures. Still cracks me up!

"In the letter, NADA’s CEO, Mike Stanton, expressed that the decision by Blume and the Board of Management to distribute Scout vehicles directly in the U.S. was “misguided” and “violates well-established state franchise laws.” He also pointed out that Scout would have instant market traction if it utilized the dealership franchise system. Stanton warned that the alternative would be strained relationships with U.S. dealers and prolonged legal disputes across individual states....the letter requests a meeting with Blume to discuss alternatives to the direct sales approach. Stanton suggested meeting at Blume’s office in Germany, his own office in Washington, or another suitable location."

NADA's CEO is an excellent representative of car dealers. Tactical, not strategic, and completely focused on the needs of himself not the customer. This letter was his chance to sell the idea of a dealer network to Scout but he treated it like selling a Jetta SE to some schmuck. Instead of giving Scout legitimate reasons and a solid business case to change course, he called Scout's GTM baby ugly and misguided, reverted back to legal and contract threats, and ended with trying to have leadership sit down in office so he could strong arm them into a deal. Basically the exact thing Scout is trying to avoid for their customers. Good job Mike, you blew it.

I guess no one has seen that they have estimated 75,000 reservation, take like a few percent off of it. It has plenty of market traction in my head. And with marketing Scout Motors will be “bigger and better than (IH Scout) was ever before” if anyone gets the reference A+ to you.

Also they really believe that dealers are going to go out business from one company. Which would be adding to the already 3 brands that do DTC, meanwhile NADA has thousands of dealerships.

Hopefully Scott and Cody talked to Oliver.

Dealers are just mad that they won’t be able to jack the price up well over msrp and rip people off. I think most manufacturers are still mad over the prices during covid. It looks bad on the brand when your dealers are ripping people off.
That is for sure, Those greedy dealers in December of last year tacked on $35k to the price of the ID.Buzz, Unbelievable.

I guess NADA hasn’t realized that everyone hates stealerships.

There has been a lot of talk recently about the 12V battery. It seems this is a big consumer issue in both gas and EV vehicles.
I replace mine about every 80K miles. Current EV at 40K miles. I think some folks (gas more than EV) replace the 12V with the cheapest thing they can find at Autozone…not really looking at specs. Connections aren’t on tight and sometimes battery hold down isn’t put back in place. Modern cars have so many accessories and computer chips that always need power unlike a car in the 60s…doesn’t surprise me we don’t get the same mileage out of them.

In my BMW Group Cars, I run the Lithium Ion which last forever lol. And my friends Chevy I made her use a Marine Lithium Battery By Lithium Hub which is holding up.

If you want an interesting read and want to dig a bit start looking into vehicle dealership franchise laws. It really doesn’t take much to extend dealership franchises. Imagine this:
SM/VWAG contracts an employee as a Scout ambassador and pays them $30K a year and contractually allows them to “moonlight”. Part of their employment contract is signing an ethics clause both at SM as ambassador and future Ducati franchise dealer. Said employees then “open” Ducati dealership franchises as a moonlight gig (via franchise laws) maybe with backing from Ducati (via VWAG) and sell “motorcycles”. Then SM announces a partnership with Ducati as their dealer of choice because Scout is about adventure as is Ducati. Now there are dealerships strategically placed around the country to sell Scouts by ambassadors. And the ethics clause keeps them from turning dirty.

sorry for coming back to a topic that died off, but I’m reading that so far every time NADA has sent a Email to Oliver, he refuses to reply, and instead VW group says that scout is an independent American brand separate from VW. So good for VW, hopefully they will do the same thing and continue to tell the NADA that Scout Motors has no connection to any dealership network. And hopefully Scott will stand strong!

What is this the Mafia? Lol.

The company I work for gave me a new Prius Prime plug in hybrid a few months ago. The 12V battery goes dead if I don't drive the car every 3-4 days. Pretty much have to jump start it every time I drive it.

1,800 miles on the car. No, I didn't forget a zero.
That’s really weird. I’m thinking something isn’t right with the battery if it’s losing juice so quickly. 🤨 I mean, mine went dark during the pandemic a couple of times because I wasn’t going anywhere, but my Prius had upwards of 90K miles and is two generations behind yours. What the hell?
