Exterior lights for camping or off road

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Any chance for a flood light that can be turned on driver side, passenger side, rear, or all at once, with dim and bright mode? Very helpful for working or camping or fishing early morning or late evening ...

I think I suggested this a while back? Either way, upvoting because I think this would be tremendously useful.

This is NOT a roof rack lightbar sort of light that we're talking about (or, at least that I think I'm envisioning). Instead, it is light for "around the vehicle" in all directions.

The use case here is "rolling up to a camp site at dark:30 at night".

You need to get out, and setup camp/wander around the campsite a lot. And its easy to trip over guy lines, small stones/roots/sticks on the ground, or accidentally step on some gear that someone else got out that you can't see in that situation.

So having some general lighting that extends around the sides of the vehicle, would be excellent. Again, doesn't have to be super bright. But having 50-200lumens flooding out around the vehicle, would be great. Think roughly like a headlamp brightness, going out on the sides/back.

Also would be nice for backing up in the woods/unknown places at night (backup lights are good, but you can't see to your sides as well).

The perimeter lighting could be included with the roof rack. Maybe even allow the driver to turn on lights built into the mirrors.

At the reveal they said an option for 200 lumens of color changing LED’s would be installed over the vehicle including the wheels. That option will also include polished chrome spinners

I had the same thought. In fact, when they released the images of it, the first thing I looked for were small LED's on the sides. Alas.

But there is hope :). LED's on the bottom of the door handles, and side view mirrors, and from the spare tire carrier/etc could get us close.

I’ll pass on the chrome spinners as they are a bastard to clean when muddy. You don’t want to show up to Walmart with muddy spinners. Really hurts a persons credibility.
