Electric back window

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I look very forward to seeing ordering and purchasing a new scout. Gladly will preorder, again… I have one of the 2021 Broncos, and had a long wait time. One of many things that I wish it did have is an electric back window.

I am down (and up) for an electric window if it can work with the removable top and spare tire. I imagine a full size spare hanging on the tailgate or bumper.

@Jamie@ScoutMotors can we see some sketches of the front and rear?

I was behind a new Toyota Tundra and watched his back window go down just like in the 4Runner. So I guess you could use the same back window in the truck as the SUV.

Knowing many of us are hoping for a drop tailgate with a lift up top hatch I think it would be difficult in that configuration though I’d love to see SM figure it out. Wonder if the glass is attached in the upper hatch portion could it be pinned in the middle to rotate with an electric motor (kinda like an awning window). Then you could open to get airflow and also open to slide some things through the window, like a half dozen 2x4’s or something similar for convenience with longer items.
Other nice feature if tailgate configuration would be a reasonably priced woven bed extender like pick up trucks often offer. Wouldn’t need to be a heavy metal cage style but just something that could hook in with carabeeners and hold it like a sideways pouch. Then it could fold away into a storage area within the SUV.

No need for lift up hatch if rear window is frameless and descends cemetery into tailgate. The gate can even be hinged in 2 directions, swing down or swing right.

This tech is 60 years old and came in several station wagons. Bonus points if you know what a station wagon is without Google, and grand prize if you ever rode in rear facing third row station wagon seats- which folded completely into the flat floor, BTW.

For bed extenders look at the VinFast Wild or the Canoo pickup. The Wild may never come to the US but has interesting features. 4 full doors with rear opening suicide style. Fold flat rear window panel like an Avalanche.

Yes! The grand prize! All those trips in the "way back" finally pay off.
