I’m driving a 23 Defender while I wait for Scout to reemerge. Rover got a lot right about the Defender, so it’s a good one to look at for design ideas. Rugged but refined and modern interior. Matte finish soft rubber and faux leather interior, tons of storage, big handles, customizable gauges/display on dash, wireless phone charger, built in tire pump, adjustable lift, 22” wheels, etc. It even has “wade sensing” for up to 33” of water navigation, though I’ll never use it. As someone else pointed out, most of us (myself included) love the capability but won’t ever take it bouldering in the back woods. Side steps and other accessories are readily available from many manufactureres
At very little cost, so maybe some of those options could be duplicated to fit the Scout? i had a full EV prior to this hybrid, and personally loved it. No substitute for the reliability of the torque. I respect the practicality of a hybrid option, but think people will come around to full EV, so hope you’ll press on. The one thing I wish the defender had was Jeep-like roof removal capability. I’d be fine with just a removable targa top and maybe the back end. A double roll bar could be integrated into a permanent section between the front and second rows or behind the second row. Thank you!

I was shopping Defender when I got my Bronco. Still have only opened roof to 1st position a few times.

I guess I’m torn about how refined I’d like the new Scout to be. On one hand, I want a true off road vehicle. On the other, I already have a short wheelbase Bronco on 35’s with front and rear lockers, and it’s not going anywhere. And the Scout would slot in as the daily driver. So, maybe I should be ok with a four-door SUV that only looks the part, for daily duty. Still feels weird to think of Scout as anything other than strictly utilitarian, though.

Been thinking same thing. I have 4-door outer banks and love it but gotta say the issues never stop. Just had it in for several annoyance fixes including the soft top squeaking when folded open. They tried to solve and then added the soft top is showing premature wearing. Had it since December’23. RIDICULOUS. Needless to say it’s great but my wife just ordered a new Lexus GX. Gonna be a few months and not the same vehicles-per se- but the ride is great, interior is very nice and it’s still more than capable for anything we will need it to do. I’ll miss the Bronco!
Truly hoping Scout gets it right so I have a great, vintage inspired SUV.
The open air driving is so satisfying to me so I hope the Scout is open top or at least can be VERY open
